Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
It would suit black better to have one that wins you the game if you have twenty or more cards in hand, though maybe that one is too easy to achieve.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Whoever thinks WotC's going to give us a playable Engine card better than Null Profusion (effect and manawise) or anything related to Necro or Bargain will be disappointed.
I'm sure after Necro, Bargain and Griselbrand WotC has enough from the "Life for Cards" engines
I'd expect nothing more than a 3cc/4cc enchantment with 1BB or 4 Life as activation cost for a Terror

Hm.
Atropotence
BBB
Enchantment
You can't gain life or draw cards.
Whenever you lose life, put that many cards from the top of your library into your hand. (Damage causes loss of life.)
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Yawgmoth's Ritual
BBB
Enchantment
As an additional cost to cast Yawgmoth's Ritual, sacrifice a creature. When Yawgmoth's Ritual enters the battlefield gain control of target planeswalker, artifact or creature you don't own.

I like this. Seems playable, yet not broken.

This is a sorcery.

You could add a when this enchantment LTB clause or something.

It's just O-Ring that stays around even if it gets binned. You sacrificed a fucking creature after all ... unless your opponent Show and Telled. Honestly it still isn't powerful enough and would only see fringe play. Gives black an actual response to planeswalkers.

The flavour text and possibility of an awesome picture make me want this so hard.

Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
There is a reason black only sees utility play in Legacy: it used to have no all-around good creatures besides Dark Confidant. And even Bob has come a very long way trying to find his spot in Legacy.
What black needs is a Stoneforge Mythic. A flying Tarmogoyf. A Baleful Strix with flash that lets you Careful Study when it enters the battlefield.
Something to give black more playable permanents. Deathrite Shaman was an excellent card to start with.
And don't make it cost BBB or something because monoblack is so far from playable, it would be a waste of a potentially good card.

If you don't make it BBB it'll just be a blue card. I don't want another powerful blue card.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
1BB? But I agree, you need it to be colour intensive or attach an anti-blue clause if you want it to be Legacy playable but also not another tool for blue. I wouldn't mind printing cards that can't be used with Islands, etc. but that wouldn't fit well in Standard.

Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Maybe I just think Mono Black is that bad that I can't see it being playable any time soon. Without ridiculous casting costs like (G/B)(G/B)(G/B) or something like that.

Black has Dark Confidant and Liliana of the Veil for black permanents. That's nothing to scoff at.

Black makes a good secondary color. What I feel it needs is more stuff to make it a primary deck color outside of combo.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
WotC has tried many times to print a black Sylvan Library, but cannot do a straight reprint because it's so easy to cheat with it. Because of that, I think there's a higher chance of success submitting a Sylvan Library than a Necropotence.
Black Sylvan :1::b:
Enchantment
If you would draw a card, instead draw two cards, then put one of them on the top of your library unless you pay 4 life.

That's fair. A card like the one I outlined above solves a couple big problems with playing mono black right now.
1) No answers to planeswalkers out of combat (or just awful ideas like Drain Life -> Redirect). I've played Gate-ish mono black decks and controlled the early game with point discard, man removal and decent creatures. Then, like the shaved apes Stoneblade players are they just cast Jace off the top of library, bounce my Tombstalker and beat me like I stole their mothers hymen.
2) Show and Tell Derp. I point discard an SnT "player" and they derp (via Ponder) into a Show and Tell or they Brainstorm to hide from point discard and just cast Show and Tell. Outside of fringe artifacts you are generally fucked. There are things that are great to drop vs. Omniscience (Trinisphere, Nether Void, Chains), some things that are OK vs. Emrakul (Disk, Shriekmaw, Fleshbag), almost no things that are OK vs. Griselbrand (Griselbrand). You have to go into other colors.
It's a fair cost when you have to actually cast it, but if somebody cheats you play it a little cheaper. Also they can't bounce it for any real value, you keep the thing you bargained for. Going Ritual this is fruitless.
It also might have a place in some other legacy decks like Veteran Explorer decks, black heavy Deadguy decks etc..
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
BB
Enchantment
Enchant Player. When ~ enters the battlefield name a non land card. The enchanted player reveals their hand.
If the name card is revealed that player discards all copies of the card. The player plays with their hand reviled as long as ~ is in play.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Macabre Bloom
B
Enchantment
When a creature is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, add B to your mana pool.
Discard Macabre Bloom: Add B to your mana pool.
Edit:
Back and forth between when a creature goes to grave versus exile a creature from your graveyard. That seems more powerful as an engine and would require a higher cost. This works with tokens so you could use it with thrull tokens. I have been trying very hard to come up with something that generates thrulls. But nothing viable yet.
