Let's be serious guys. It's a good card and definetely a possible SB card for Death and Taxes, but why would you want to cut anything from the current Death and Taxes Maindeck list, if you are already favored against Miracles, Sneak Show, RUG Delver etc.
Matchups Death and Taxes has problems:
Jund, Esper TNN with Zealous Persecution, Engineered Explosives,..
It does nothing against Jund except being 3/1 and dying to any removal and creature.
Against Esper? The strongest card is TNN with Equipment, Jace is not anymore in the Maindeck postboard...
It's a good card. Definetely a SB staple and maybe a 1-2 of in the Maindeck, because i don't see anyone cutting cards like Serra Avenger, Flickerwisp, Thalia, Mother of Runes etc. Maybe the Mirran Crusader but i think the new legendary cat will get this slot.

It doesn't stop Top, it doesn't stop Jace really, just means that they can't activate one ability (of four.) What control deck even plays Ponder? It doesn't stop Ad Nauseam. Doesn't stop Stoneforge, doesn't stop Dark Confidant, doesn't stop Cascade. Doesn't stop Loam. It doesn't do shit to Emrakul, doesn't stop someone from just landing Griselbrand as a 7/7 flying lifelinker and beating your face in.
I think it's a very Legacy playable card, but it's not broken and it's not going to make blue suddenly not the best color, cool your damn jets.
Oh I was talking about D&T, that they could play both. For Goblins, they need Thalia. This vs. Thalia, I much prefer Thalia overall as a non-blue answer to combo.Quote:

Not impressed, at best it's used in Maverick in order to break the assymetry of Sylvan Library and Dark Confident in comparison to Brainstorm and Ponder, and that deck already has access to nine, virtual hate bears between Thalia and GSZ -> Teeg not counting any additional Ethersworn Cannonist from the board. It's not even fast enough to stop a combo player from playing his first or second cantrip, or powerful enough to stop him from going off as long as he chooses Past in Flames or Empty the Warrens. Golgari Charm and Dread of Night have greater utility overall, and decks like ANT with 16 cantrips will probably adapt by playing Thoughtseize instead of Duress in order to stop hate bears pre-emptively. I might have been impressed if it read, "your opponent's may not draw more than 1 card a turn" so you'd actually have a reason to play it over Meddling Mage but alas it's just one more hate bear for the pile in Death and Taxes.
It's an ok card that makes the cut in Legacy, but it's not a new, format defining card like Deathrite Shaman by any means.

Altho' in all fairness Sneak Attack has a serious problem on its hands, if that deck has to rely on Daze in order to stop a MD hate bear then it's going to become significantly weaker vs the format as a whole and unlike Meddling Mage they can't just SB in Pyroblast over a more linear card like Pyroclasm. If WW.dec can drive down the numbers of Sneak Attack in the format, the card seems like a positive contribution to the format.

I mainly play Miracle and i have like 100-200 games against GOOD Death and Taxes pilots. The problem of this matchup is that luckily for me the majority of Death and Taxes pilots play like shit, but if you play against a good Death and Taxes pilot Death and Taxes is slightly favored.Quote:
