Hey DrJones,
You got some more info regarding matchups etc on that finish?
There's info about deck, matchups and tournament data on the deck's thread in this spanish forum:
http://www.factoriademishra.com/phpB...php?f=10&t=763. The people that post in that thread are very active and constantly test changes to the deck. The posts are in spanish but the news about the Top 4 are in Page 53, in a post made by Pin_Vic.
From what I read, he lost against Magus of the Moon, so he might have faced DragonStompy, which is a bad matchup for this deck due to Trinisphere main. He also lost in Top 4 against the Team America deck that won the tournament.
He hasn't posted anything yet about the other decks, but it's funny reading about the matchup against reanimator and Show and Tell decks, and how Kavu tramples over Emrakul for the kill, lol.
I get in top8 yesterday with following list. It was 23 player local tourney.
Cure 2.0
3 Bayou
1 Savannah
1 Scrubland
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
1 Dryad Arbor

Deck was really solid and i didnt lose single game before top8.
Good to know! :)
Hi !
I'm Pin_Vlc, iīm new in this forum though a lot of for time I read it, also Iīm a player de False cure from his beginning, and friend of Dr. Jones. with him i have discussed enough on deck-
It does little I did top4 In a tilt and I see that they have asked to do report...I do not remember very much the rounds, but the fitting was :
r1 1-2 Team America.
r2 2-0 Astral Slide
Very easy round for the deck, since it is a slow deck and does not manage to control ours false cure.
r3 2-1 Alluren
In the first one he surprise me with a fast combo, but in the 2 following ones my sideboard gains the round (duress+gaddok)
r4 2-0 Reanimator
In the first one Im more fast, and in g2 again duress+loaming shaman They delay him and it has time to kill .
r5 2-1 Imperial Painter.
T1 ancient tomb painter,t2 ancient+ancient grinstone gg.
I win the second one with swords+missteps.
In the last one magus of the moon t1 and gg.
r6 uw control 2-0
Battleskull is a nice wincon, but with kavu predator isnt a good idea.
En g2,Thrun eats it.
Top8 2-0 Astral slide.
Easy, fast combo and gg.
Top4 Red Blad 2-0
Fast removal,lavamancer,counters and i lose
G2 fow fow swords and ... top 4 !
I like so much the deck,my mana base is strong and im happy with her.
Misstep, for the present they have not given me the height.Almost no item that I gained, was thanks to them, and for sideboard against control there are better solutions, as discarded cards or Thrun. For the present they fall of the list, and his place it enters inquisition of kozilek.
I hope that you have liked and sorry for my english.
i was wondering why this list is running 3 bird of paradise, can anyone explain?
It's justified in that the deck plays 3(4) colors, Green Sun Zenith, and Sensei's Divining Top.
But it doesn't have to be three. I play only one bird and keep the quirion rangers.
Hello everybody,
Iīm following the thread now 2 months and started to playing first Kavu 1.0 with tainted strike it was in the early game very strong but in the midgame you canīt handle with this deck.
Last Sunday I played on a big tournament with 100 players my decklist was like kavu 2.0 but i cuttet the mm for berserk the Ooze main and the tops were cuttet for vines of vastwood
I have to say that i liked this deck a lot played in 7 rounds 2-1-4 that was because of some misstakes because this version was very new for me.
First round was agains Manaless dredge the Ooze is doing tīs job very well 2-0 won
the second game was against Natural Order Rug I just loose because of some misstakes but if you know how to pla against this deck you can easely win this matchup
the third game was against a selfmade deck he named it dark ***** it was just full of counters and removal i had no chance because i couldnīt play anything and this just because of the removal
then i drawt against enchantress this is a easy matchup but when he plays so slow i hadnīt a chance to play a 2-1 in 50 minutes....
the fith game was against countertop balance this sucks a lot because i got everything countered this was very demotivating because his jace killed me
the sixth game was aginst stoneblade i just saw betterskulls feast and femine swords and counter got nothing out that was very sadly
the last game was against TES this was very funny because i killed him with false cure in the first game in the secon game he killed me in turn 1 and in the last game i killed him with berserk so i finished my day and iīm happy to play again on saturday with the deck.
so with greetings 4r71k =)

Hey, do you think splashing red for Grove of the Burnwillows and Punishing Fire would be good? The Grove also pumps Kavu a bit.
No one? Alright, here is what I was thinking for the main 60:
Lands - 20
4 Bayou
3 Grove of the Burnwillows
2 Badlands
1 Taiga
3 Verdant Catacombs
2 Wooded Foothills
2 Bloodstained Mire
1 Forest
1 Swamp
1 Mountain
Creatures - 16
4 Kavu Predator
4 Dark Confidant
4 Skyshroud Cutter
2 Birds of Paradise
2 Scavenging Ooze
Other - 24
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Hymn to Tourach
4 False Cure
4 Invigorate
2 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Punishing Fire
3 Lightning Bolt
2 Reverent Silence
Grove + Fire gives you a late game strategy, takes out other creatures, and pumps kavu. Bolt provides reach and more creature removal. Ooze is just an amazing creature and provides another win-con. Everything else is self explanatory.
I was thinking Liliana of the Veil or Garruk, Primal Hunter could work but idk what to cut for them. Lilly would help to clear the opponents hand and board. Drawing 12 off of Garruk and Kavu will pretty much seal the game.
What do you guys think?
EDIT: I don't think the mana base is quite right, but I'm not that good at figuring that out, sorry.
So is the deck 100% dead, not that people can just choose not to gain life from anything? Kavu and False Cure are like useless now...
just wondering, for those who still play this deck, is it best to stay with the 1.0 build of The Cure (quiron ranger/lotus petal/elvish spirit guide) or is the recently discussed 2.0 build with Green Sun's Zenith significantly more viable in the current meta?
my understanding is that the 1.0 is more explosive than 2.0, with turn 1 kills possible (and that is what i played about a year ago), and most of the times that i won was during the first few turns. however, with prolonged games, i found that it ran out of steam quite quickly. the 2.0 version seems to have a reliable mana base, but the trade-off seems to be its explosiveness. originally the premise for this deck was to be explosive to get damage through with kavu and false cure before the opponent can get set up.
i guess the question i'm trying to ask is:
does having the more reliable mana base of 2.0 outweigh the explosiveness of version 1.0?
You can play Green Sun Zenith on the explosive version, too, and I would suggest anyone playing this deck to fit at least 3x Green Sun Zenith in the decklist, as it's that good.
The 1.0 version was tweaked to get the best results in an old meta. In the current meta you can trade off some speed for stability, as a rule of thumb, the bigger the tournament, the more stable you want your deck to perform (unless you have byes, in that case you can allow yourself to lose one game to a bad shuffle if that means you are more likely to win all the others)
This deck was much stronger when Mental Misstep was around, because all the decks were slow, faster combo decks were dead, and you could play 4 free time walks that also countered swords, duress, and spell snare.
I would like to update the deck one of these days, but I currently don't have the time to play tournaments (girlfriend, jobs, etc.)
Hi!
Some years ago i heard about this combo and made a very cheap version of this deck. No berserk, confidants, goyfs or bayous... (just casual with friends, well... i kinda lost very often :P)
But now i want to build a more serious legacy deck with this combo.
So, is here anybody who still tries to improove the deck? I really love this concept!
After reading all the posts i'm a bit confused what solution is best (at the moment).
Hope someone's still alive here :P
Stuhl
Hej!
i also after hearing of it and liking it years ago build this deck 2 weeks ago on MTGO.
My current list is:
3 Bayou
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Forest
4 Lotus Petal
3 Elvish Spirit Guide
3 Birds of Paradise
3 Quirion Ranger
4 False Cure
4 Invigorate
4 Skyshroud Cutter
4 Reverent Silence
4 Dark Confidant
4 Kavu Predator
2 Wild Mongrel
3 Green Sun's Zenith
2 Eternal Witness
4 Chalice of the Void
SIdeboard:
2 Carpet of FLowers
3 Nature's Claim
4 Xantid Swarm
3 Abrupt Decay
3 Compost
I love playing it, however i often feel like i need more beaters that are goo dwithout the lifegain cards, so i probably should invest in some Tarmogoyfs.
Furthermore i find it really difficult to decide what i want for the mana package, right now i have 12 land 4 petal 3 ESG 3 birds 3 rangers, but i'm not sure if i need this many, that i should cut the birds again and get back Berserks.
Chalice of the Void mainboard really helps against StP decks, they're hard to beat without it, which is also the reason i cut the Berserks in the end, because i value the Chalices alot higher :)
I dont like your list. You play chalice with sooo many cc1... I change :
-3 birds
+1 GSZ
+1 Elvish spirit guide
+1 dryad arbor
And maybe 1 or 2 land more...
Eternal witness ? :S.
It's actually only 6 cards, all of which you generally drop T1 or can Zenith into if needed.
I've found the witness to be really usefull in the mid-late game, which is why it's a 2-off. Getting back False Cures when countered or Kavu Predators when Abrupt Decay'd can be really usefull against grindy decks.
