Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
Hey, thanks for the appreciation
Ive been tinkering around with the Land count myself and personally think that 19 should be correct, but what im going to change is that i will cut the 4th usea for the 9th fetch because i felt like brainstorm locking myself to often with only 8 fetchies. As i said the key is to mulligan into a playable Land count / cantrip combination. The upside is the denser threat ratio since u dont really want more than 2-3 Lands anyway imho.
I will try that config and report how it felt after a decent number of games
edit:
and another 5-0. Those were the matchups:
Painters Servant 2-0
Aluren 2-0
Czech Pile 2-1
Neo Miracles with CB 2-0
Czech Pile 2-0
The Deck can play the tempo game as well as the grind game really well. Against the Midrange / Control decks i like to hymn them first before deploying my threats, cause usually they keep their removal up on the first turns unless i have a real tempo heavy draw.
PS: Accidentally put a Hydroblast into the Maindeck as 61st card and played only 14 SB cards
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
I've been playing with Mongoose and Spell Pierce instead of Goyf#3-4 and Stalker/Leo/Lily because of the popularity of Czech Pile and Grixis Ctrl in my meta. This change has greatly improved the matchup but has left the deck more vulnerable to Gurmag and TNN. I already play 2 Golgari Charm and 2 Diabolic Edicts in my SB so I've got TNN covered. With only 1 TNN main (+1 side) and 1 Dismember main I am not sure I am packing enough hate for Gurmag (especially when they pair it with Pyro). I've got a flex SB slot that I've been filling with Cage, Dread of Night, Bitterblossom, etc. and I want to know if Go for the Throat would be a reasonable addition or if it's too vanilla/underwhelming for a SB slot.
Here is my current creature base and removal suite:
4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Nimble Mongoose
2 Tarmogoyf
1 True-Name Nemesis
1 Dismember
4 Fatal Push
2 Abrupt Decay
16 usual blue cards
2 Spell Pierce
1 Preordain
19 Lands
Thanks!

Go for the Throat is a perfectly reasonable option. I've run it before, even if those were the days before Push was an option. It does what you need it to do and 2 CMC isn't unreasonable. It isn't great, but it gets the job done.
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
Against 4c leovold, spell snare is the answer. It stops hymn, snap and strix.
I played 2 snares in main by using rug delver. Really good match against 4c leovold.

Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
Hi nice to meet you. I'm suginamik from Japan.
I'm building a bug mongoose deck.
<main>
4 Nimble Mongoose
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Deathrite Shaman
1 Snapcaster Mage
1 True-Name Nemesis
3 Underground Sea
1 Bayou
2 Tropical Island
4 Wasteland
4 Polluted Delta
4 Misty Rainforest
3 Fatal Push
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Daze
4 Force of Will
4 Stifle
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Thoughtseize
1 Dismember
1 Spell Pierce
<side>
1 Spell Pierce
1 Leovold, Emissary of Trest
1 True-Name Nemesis
1 Diabolic Edict
1 Flusterstorm
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Sylvan Library
1 Invasive Surgery
2 Hymn to Tourach
1 Spell Snare
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Marsh Casualties
The reason why I build this deck, I want to play 4 stifle and 4 mongoose and 4 deathrite in main. I've played rug and grixis delver for a long time.
I joined a legacy tournament 2 week ago, and 5-3 finish with this list.( http://series.magiccardmarket.eu/201...nadian-thresh/ )
That rug deck is really good and match current metagame. 2 spell snare is really good against 4c leovold deck.
But deathrite is the problem. So that I build this deck.
This deck is based on rug delver. But I cut goyf because that will be a target of fatal push. Mongoose is very trustful clock.
If you comment for my deck, I'll be happy.
Thanks. :)

Hey dude, Geese are pretty sweet, and I always think about sleeving them when B&R updates, just in case DRS finally gets hit.
The one thing I'm not sold on with your list is both Thoughtseize and Stifle in your main deck. They're completely opposite in terms of tempo: tap-out vs. reactive. I might want to put them in the sideboard and play 2 more Pierce (or one Pierce and one Snare) in their place because the situation of: "should I hold up T1 Stifle/Pierce or slam Thoughtseize" has very different lines in game one.
It also makes the gameplan more like RUG Delver, instead of traditional BUG that prioritizes main-phase disruption. I also like the split on Decays. I want to play less myself, but every time I go below 3 I run into a bunch of moon//chalice decks.
EDIT: Also, Janchu88 has been doing really well on MODO recently, so anyone looking for Hymn-based list inspiration should look there. :v)

We have an EW win, boys and girls!

Any thoughts on the inclusion of Last Hope Lili over Lili of the Veil?
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
@Goddik Congratulations. I'm just wondering why did you replace Liliana of the Veil to Liliana of the Last Hope maindeck? What were your expectations on the EW meta that made you choose Liliana of the Last Hope?

Maybe Death and Taxes and Czech Pile? Lots of X-1's there. Not to mention the pain that is Young Pyromancer (which is seems many Grixis lists where on).

I'm still using 2 LoTV maindeck and I have 1 LotLH in my sideboard, but thinking if I need to buy a second copy and try to use it in the main deck instead? I'm also thinking of using 2 Vapor Snag and 2 Snapcaster maindeck with 19 lands since my meta is heavy on Reanimator/Eldrazi/Depths. My greatest weakness though is Elves.

I think Diabolic Edict would be much better for you than Vapor Snag. Vapor Snag is better in a deck like UR Delver, which can afford the card disadvantage because of the aggressive nature of that deck, and their lack of better options due to being in only blue and red.

I've been on this split for a few months now, and it's been good.
I guess if you're expecting a lot of X/1s (like others have said) it's a good repeated removal. Strix is everywhere right now, and it might have been a meta call expecting D&T--that sideboard is stacked.
Congrats, and hope to hear from the dude himself. :)

I'm sure he'll be back. I don't think he lives in the US though, so he might well be traveling at the moment.
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)

Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
Thoughts:
61 card maindeck for delver feels wrong. Especially with only 19 lands.
I am not a huge fan of Leovold in Team America. In my games, he feels slow and clunky. Love the card in other control/bigger midrange decks, but have not liked Leovold vs Liliana and other three drops. It also proved more difficult to cast since you can't use wasteland to cast it (has been relevant for me).
Dismember is a card that I am off of now. The life is relevant against other fair decks and I lost too many games with Dismembers when I could have had another Fatal Push. If you have a ton of Eldrazi in your meta, sure I might run one. But in an open MTGO or GP I am not playing it.
I would be curious how your results are with Thoughtseize main. For me, Thoughtseize is a sideboard card. Hymn to Tourach plays much better with a deck that wants to trade like TA. It essentially gets you and an opponent to a spot where you are both top decking, and your top decks should be better.
I do like the cut down to 2 Decay maindeck. The card isn't the most mana-efficient, but it serves an important role. I like 2.

Agree on maindeck Leovold. I play one in the side though as he really hoses some decks and you can fetch accordingly.
Disagree on Dismember. With all the delve creatures running around, Eldrazi and corner cases I've really enjoyed the card and usually never pay more then 2 life after T1. I do agree it is local meta dependent and I don't know mtgo's meta. I'd take it to a larger tournament though.
Also agree 4 Hymn before first TS main, if any. I also run 2 AD right now and enjoy that number.
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
I like Dismember as a value card. It's "colourless" so you can kill a Magus of the Moon with one DRS out, whereas Decay is tough and you'll have a hard time triggering revolt for Push. Also kills just big dudes that can clog up the board. But I like my sideboard removal to be good vs Elves, and unfortunately Dismember really hurts there.
I still play one, but can see the arguments for both sides.
Also Decay has been less and less impressive, which is interesting since ~3 years ago the core cards were 4 Hymn 4 Decay 4 xxx. Glad to see people feel similarly, and I'm not too much of an outlier.
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
So I played Thoughtseize in the main because my meta is pretty combo heavy at the moment so I wanted to be able to take a combo piece out of their hand while also playing counterspells. And the Leovold probably could be moved to the side, I just thought it was main-deck worthy. Dismember I only got to cast once so I'm not sure if it's really good or not. I'll come back with more info after testing more.
Thanks for the replys
Re: [Deck] Team America (BUG Delver)
Why would you be more worried about Magus of the Moon than regular Blood Moon? It seems a fool's errand to fight the less common half of a 2-card issue...
