If you do that I resign !
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
When emidln eshews DD in favor of TES, you know shit's going down.
I'm 50/50 about running TES at GP:Ghent (though that's obviously farther away), between this and Reanimator or something with Delver.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I just won three byes with TES last weekend, so I'm considering going now. It is still a way off, but I'm thinking either TES or Grinding Station. I'm constantly tempted to play Belcher at large events, but I really need to hold myself back. :)
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I was going to note that I've probably been playing TES off and on for longer than anyone in this thread minus Bryant, but I'll instead make it known that I haven't had a lot of time to play Magic recently. TES's decision trees aren't as complicated for me as Doomsday decision trees. Less complicated decision trees and a similar (maybe even higher) powerlevel over a long event without much practice gives TES a higher EV than Doomsday for me.

I had the same analysis and guessed already all that since I knew you don't play that much currently. I was joking.
However don't forget to add to the equation that people will make more mistakes against doomsday and that they'll probably put you on another deck G1.
Also I would see you make mistakes with DD only in very complicated situations and they don't happen that much often.
TES is a bit safest but think about how it would be to top8 with TES and how it would be to top8 with DD.

emidln actually lives to combo out through complicated situations. Its the easy ones where he brain farts. ;).
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Testing a bit and ran into a hard decision.
After a Tendrils for 16 and 2 fetches there at 2,have 2 flipped Delvers, 3/4Goyf,a untaped Volc after recasting top and activating it. With no cards in hand they attack putting me to 16.
I have Sea and Volc in play and no cards in hand.I untap draw a Infernal Tutor. I Tutor for Burning wish hoping to untap draw 1 of the 4 LEDs or 1 of the 3 Rite of Flames to be able to Grapeshot for the win.
Unfortunately they Toped end of turn into Wastland. They Waste my Volc and attack. After scooping i look to see if it was there,it wasn't lol.
Wondering what others would have chose?
Please constructive criticism only :)

1.) What does our opponent have in hand?
2.) Why do we have zero cards in hand?
3.) Flip the table?
tldr; concede

Presumably we don't believe they have a counterspell in their hand. Their Sensei's Divining Top potentially lets them spin a counterspell to the top and draw it, though.

I suspect the Tendrils for 16 had something to do with it.

If we Infernal Tutor for something other than Burning Wish, our outs go from seven to four. The only other option is to pass the turn with Infernal Tutor in hand, and go to 7. Then we have no outs at all, I think.
So it looks to me like the play was correct, but it seems like it had very little chance of succeeding.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
It was correct to go infernal to wish; if you draw any mana spell since you probably have a rite of flame in the graveyard you just win assuming your opponent has 3 or less life here from a fetch or something. If you tutor for LED, you have 4 outs those outs consisting of 4 burning wish, or brainstorm/ponder cracking LED in response for red hoping to draw into burning wish in either the top 3 (brainstorm) or top '4' (ponder, shuffle, drawing burning wish would be the definition of lucksacking for the record). Either way, the odds of you succeeding are quite low unless you draw perfectly and besides he wastelanded you so there's literally no way for you to win unless you run grapeshot maindeck, which I have never seen.

But blind flipping tables is like blind flipping Counterbalance... it sometimes just gets there...
Edit: Would it have been just better to EtW for 16 tokens here?

No. The tokens require two turns after the one you cast EtW in order to win, and without the life gain from Tendrils, you only have one turn if you chump block Tarmogoyf.

maybe not Etw for 16 but depending on the SB and the original hand, it may have been possible to make a better line of play. Maybe a bounce spell on the delvers and then a tendrils the next turn, or a combo of pyroclasm and grapeshot. It is hard to tell because we don't know the list or what was the setup to the combo turn.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I'm strongly considering cutting the 4th Chrome Mox for a 14th land (3rd City) just because I'm sick of getting Wasteland + Dazed out by RUG. How much worse will this make Ad Nauseams?

They will still be really strong... 3 or 4 chrome moxes is just preference for land totals.... Most people who cut the 4th will run a 3rd city and barely makes ad nauseam less consistent.

Isn't chrome mox just better against them though? Turn one lay land and lay out a chrome mox and you have an undazeable unwasteable mana source

I'm not a fan of the 14th land only because I've found it more awkward when you can't get hellbent because of that extra land versus the hands with too many moxen.
Ad Nauseam with zero floating and winning everytime is just the sickest.
tldr; no
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
I'm the biggest advocate of four Chrome Moxen. In my mind, any less than four is sub optimal. This is an explosive deck that wants as much fast mana as possible.
Not to mention, I've been doing fairly well against RUG Delver - Better than 50%.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
If you go off with a high life total, having a land over Chrome Mox doesn't matter. A huge benefit of TES over ANT is that it can safely AdN from relatively low life totals (I've had a lot of success with 10+ life). This is entirely due to a critical mass of free initial mana sources in the 8 moxen/petals.
Re: [Deck] T.E.S - The EPIC Storm
Ari, you mentioned cutting the maindeck Tendrils for an Empty the Warrens in your article. Maybe I'm being narrow-minded, but that seems sort of crazy to me. Ad Nauseam flips that don't present a Burning Wish or a way to get and cast one seem common enough to me.
With respect to cutting a Chrome Mox for a land, I played with 3 Chrome Mox and 1 Badlands for a while and didn't notice a big difference. Your Ad Nauseam gets a little worse but your opening sevens get a little better.
