Got really stoked about the deck I came up with for this week, double checked the spreadsheet last second and somehow I missed that Peat Bog was banned in season 7. Totally killed the idea. Time to submit some other piece of jank before the manabase gets banned out from under me :D
Yah I lost multiple matches last round because great furnace was banned in season7 :(
Losing lands is tough. I had to shelve some ideas in both Pauper and Peasant because of the early loss of Peat Bog. Use the good lands while you can!
This exact thing has happened to me several times. And I don't just mean about cards in general being banned. I mean specifically Peat Bog. Oh, and I see this happened to FTW too. It seems that Black just has so many more goodies than the other colours, as confirmed by its prevalence on the ban list.
Question: Are we going by MTGO pauper or paper pauper? Basically do online-only commons count as commons? I didn't see it mentioned in the first post or at the start of seasons 7 or 8.
Related, but entirely irrelevant: Renaissance printings? Not that anyone is likely to include Cosmic Horror in their deck even if there is an uncommon printing in Italian
If a card is common in an official set, it counts as a common.
I usually check Gatherer, and if there's a set mentioned in which the card is common, it counts as common.
I'm not sure which sets are online only. Do you have more examples?
If I check Cosmic Horror, Gatherer says rare in Legends, Fourth and Masters Edition III.
That's interesting that Gatherer doesn't show the Renaissance printing. Here's the scryfall entry: https://scryfall.com/card/ren/52/fr/horreur-cosmique
I think the paper and online versions of Pauper merged together with the larger card pool of the online version, so stuff like Anaba Ancestor that only have paper copies at rare are still playable because of the online common version, here: https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/C...verseid=201315
So, yes to online cards, especially because they're listed as commons on Gatherer. (Shield Sphere was played as a common in round 2.)
It's interesting that Renaissance seems to have uncommons that were never otherwise printed as uncommons, but it has no such commons, so this question didn't have to be answered by any Pauper community. The good thing for us is that Cosmic Horror and its friends are hilariously bad, and I don't think foreign language printings of any other sets changed rarities, so I don't think it matters. But I'm not an expert on this.
Deadline has passed, but I'm missing two regulars. I'll give you a few more hours.
And we're complete, so here we go!
