Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Against Miracle I think we are slightly favorable, sometimes we just play weenie aggro for the win.
Omnitel is in my experience unfavorable, since I myself play mono-red version...
The main reason that I give up playing this deck now is because my meta is also infected by UR/Grixis Delver, which has too many removals and is too fast.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
I've been really bad at making it to tournaments lately.
Here's my 2 cents anyway.
My take is that Miracles is entirely winnable but I wouldn't say its a great match up. If you are crushing Miracles it's likely that you are playing subpar Miracles players.
That said, the match up also hinges upon proper identification of what's important and what role you are taking. Getting the combo kill is going to be hard, killing them slowly with incremental damage is easier. Cast those SSGs... Make them beat you, don't beat yourself. You've got all the time in the world to craft the perfect hand / beat them down with 1/1's.
U/R delver: I played U/R delver once ever and won 2-0, my deck was stacked against them with 2 MD Spellskite and 3 SB Pyrokinesis. I'm not saying this was a great matchup because it isn't, but I am suggesting it wasn't unwinnable if you warp your deck to beat it.
I've not played a lot of Grixis Delver... but it seems like the deck folds to Bloodmoon / Rest in Peace (not as badly as RUG, as it as to be early) / Ensnaring Bridge and seems far better than U/R for us...
Omni-Tell is hard, but all you have to do to win is never let Show and Tell resolve. This is easier said than done of course. I've thought about splashing Black for Slaughter Games... seems like casting Slaughter Games = game over for them. This is sub-par because it's not great in other matchups and doesn't develop our game plan, and takes sideboard slots that might be better allocated else ware.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Actually quite intrigued by the Slaughter Games idea, ty gonna think about it.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
I've been trying it - it works. I cut the great furnace for a badlands, and added a 6th fetchland. I play 20 lands and 4 lotus petals. Assembling your colors for canonist and slaughter games is something to be extra careful of though.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
In my experience miracles is 60/40 in our favor. Resolving an early moon almost always won me the game, because they need double blue and double white for their best cards (counterbalance, jace, entreat) and they have a hard time fighting both are aggro plan and combo plan when a lot of their lands are mountains. Also they can't use fetches to shuffle which is crucial. We obviously almost always lose if they assemble countertop, but we have 8 blasts to prevent it from happening and koth may save us anyway.
I didn't play a lot vs omnitell but i feel like it is the opposite of miracles.... 60/40 in their favor.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Painter would almost be garunteed to be blue splash if it was Gstone wording

@ringo
I really want to try this strategy against omnishow (the one with slaughter games) but I'm afraid of leyline of sanctity. I asume that to be efficient, you need to win one of the 2 first game, in order to 'hide' slaughter games and avoid leyline.
what's your experience about that ?

Who on earth plays Leyline of Sanctity in their miracles deck?

I don't think that Omnishow has space in the Sideboard for Leyline of Sanctity. There board is pretty tight with there wishboard.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
each omnishow sideboard contain 3 or 4 leyline of sanctity (in france)

Omni used to play Leyline a lot, but I haven't seen it in recent lists. Honestly there isn't as much discard in the format as there used to be (Hymn to Tourach died a Dig-Through-Timey death for example).
EDIT: I will specify in the USA. Apparently that's not the case in Europe ^
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
In my experience, most don't bring leylines in because grindstone isn't really scary and you don't target them with anything else. I have yet to encounter it, but I guess you'd have to REB it with Painter in that case.
I should also add, running 1 Slaughter Games isn't enough, run 2, or you'll never see it in time.
If this works in game 2, maybe you would see leylines game 3, I suppose, though my impression is that most lists don't run them.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Anyone going to SCG Baltimore? Want to discuss updated sideboard strategies? I'm going with 99% of Jack's list because it's what I'm used to.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Has anyone played with Hanna's Custody? That's card seems decent out of the SB against hate. Just curious if anyone else has any experience with it.
As for MUs against Miracles and Omnitell, Miracles is totally winnable now. It's certainly no lands MU but I would much rather see that than Omnishow. Just bring all your haymakers and hold blasts for the important spells or land a moon and blow up plains with blasts if possible. That makes it very hard for them to win.
Omnishow is tough. Gotta have canonist + blast/jaya. Jays is the real ticket for the long game 1. Games 2-3 I play containment priests, RiP, and 3sphere which all come in. I usually bring in hedgemage as well and hope to snag omniscience. Remember to fetch your plateaus. Still tough though. I am also now running 3 main deck magma jet as young pyro decks are very popular right now. That has helped a lot for that MU and stage delvers, stoneforge, deathrites, etc.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
I'm going to Baltimore, but still working on my list. It's pretty close to Jack's, though the SB is a bit different. I'm also pretty high on Magma Jet at the moment, really helps the consistency of the deck against creature pressure.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
So for those going to play in the Permier IQ this weekend in Baltimore how popular do you think BUG and Grixis will be?
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Perhaps Jack and Mapson can shed more light on that being from near there etc., but my understanding is that Lands and TES are rather popular in that part of the Mid-Atlantic.
Grixis is definitely a good deck right now, and I'd expect to play against that for sure. BUG decks seem a bit outclassed at the moment to me though, but people play what they're going to play regardless, and that deck is both old and popular.
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Miracles....there's always miracles. Haha
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Lands has a decent showing. Tes is hit or miss. Some of the best storm players in the world frequent show up. Otherwise I would say a good mix of rug, bug, and miracles. Enough delver. I am a little unsure the amount of omnishow these days. Also elves and death and taxes gets played plenty. Overall I would say the break down is a fairly well defined and varied meta.
Jack and I will be slinging and talking shop before hand.
