Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Scroll Rack man. It was $5-$6 a year ago if I'm not mistaken, speculators hyped it up with the Miracles. Few people still try to make it work even less succeed. Yet it is stable at a comfortable $30 and probably never going down again.

Well it's not reserved list, like Rector ... If Scroll Rack got a big reprint (in a duel deck) it might go back down.

I have a playlist of Scroll Racks yet I want a reprint of them. I wanna see them in foil.

I know right? It's playable in Pox and Tezz, not aware of anything else.

that is a load of crap, the abyss was only 100 not too long ago... and i still think 100 was way too high.
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Nice, using their won players (Caleb) to make a deck archetype good, then buy up all the copies and raised the price of the stock that they own and will own? Sure sounds legit.

Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
I may be a bit biased due to the fact that I have only been playing since Alara block, but I would like to see some sort of Masters edition reprints of non reserved list cards. I have only broken into legacy as of recently, but it is by far the most fun format I have ever played and I would really love to see it continue to flourish. Are Onslaught Fetches on the reserved list? If not those at least could be in the packs. Fetches seem to be the most important part of decks anyway... Also stuff like the Abyss and Moat and such would be nice, or at least something on a comparable power level, because while they are definitely powerful effects there is no way they would hold that insane price if they were to be reprinted. I guess the Magus guys will be the only types of effects we actually get...
Edit: I am in favor of this not as much for my own benefit, but to get more legacy players in the format. The bigger the tourneys the more fun they are!

Can this be confirmed? I'm very interested in how someone was able to figure out that SCG did the purchasing.
Also, I don't think Caleb is affiliated with SCG, at least as far as I know.

That's because The Abyss and Moat are on the reserve list.

I put an Abyss on the Market like a week ago at 45€. It was one of the cheapest at the time and there was like ~20-30 Abyss, maybe more.
Then this account bought it.
And then, here is the number of Abysses on the Market now : 0.
I think it is pretty safe to assume SCG bought all, especially with their selling price of 139$ & 199$ (105€ & 150€)..

SCG are Hoarders? I'm not sure I'm fine with SCG manipulating the Legacy market to this extend.

I'm not happy with the cost of these staples going up to what seems like unjustifiable prices, but if it's the result of regular supply/demand as he states, then I can't really argue against what SCG is doing. However, I'm hoping that they're unable to sell any copies of The Abyss at the price and end up taking a loss on these, which would provide a disincentive to buying up cards like these in the future.
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
Well, I have been looking around in regards to upgrading my Italian copy for an English copy, and plan on doing so at the SCG event in St. Louis in 2 weeks (along with upgrading to an Alpha or Beta Timetwister); I have been in contact with Ben regarding this recently. A week or so ago the price for English SP copies of The Abyss were $139.99, so we're looking at a, what, 35% increase? Not as big as some cards experience, but pretty significant. Now I am unsure if I want to bother to upgrade it at this point, considering the increased cost to do so, although they did increase their buylist price for the card by 33%, so it isn't as bad as it could be.
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
I can't believe me piloting 2 x The Abyss @ GP Atlanta to a 5-2-1 finish didn't drive the price up this much
Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices and Reprints Thread
SCG addressing their own supply/demand issues by buying available copies in the market? That's unheard of!
