Also, if you take a single LED with thoughtseize, I don't think your opponent can win by playing swamp + petal -> tutor, and crack LED in response. Like HoneyT (congrats on the finish btw!), I'm not advocating one over the other but just pointing out what I believe to be true. I personally also really like cabal therapy and thus run 4-0 split. However, I can see why others would prefer using thoughtseize instead. I'll usually name what card I fear in the given situation (i.e. LED/tutor vs. storm, FoW/reanimate vs. reanimator, etc.) and flashback to hit any remaining cards that would limit the opponent's line of play, not necessarily the card that appears most in his hand.

Played a side event to a local WMCQ today, 10 players decided to sleeve up some legacy cards

Round 1: 0-2 against Reanimator, he had two turn 1 fatties...
Round 2: 2-0 against Burn. 2 quick games, my opponent lost first round against Elves as well^^
Round 3: 2-1 against Elves. His list had NO+Progenitus, no Zenith or Deathrite shamans, and played Summoners Pact and Elvish Spirit Guide
Round 4: 2-0 against RUG Cascade with Deathrite Shaman

Semi: 2-1 against same Elevs-deck
Finals: 2-0 against Affinity, turn 3 Craterhoof for lethal is kinda good:)

I left the venue with a new Savannah:)

I haven't played Elves recently, but I notice Ross Meriam just made the top 8 at the SCG Invitational with 2 maindeck Craterhoof Behemoths and 0 Regal Forces in his 75.

Random SB plan idea. Living Death/Patriach's Bidding? Like, board into heavy Therapy plan, go nuts, Bidding, win style things. Too horrible?

Both sorceries cost 5, with double B. I doubt that it would go well, but test it and tell us the results. I wouldn't do it, because NO is so good and a lot easier to cast then Bidding/Death. The boarding of Cabal Therapy is something I do almost always and have never regretted it.

In conjunction with his loss in the semifinals - what do we board against Esperblade? Abrupt Decay, Ooze and Zenith-Targets like Pridemage/Sliver etc. - but is the Natural Order/Progenitus Plan an Option if they bring Perish and additional Supreme Verdicts against us? Or do we pray, that we are fast enough?

I think it´s a tough matchup and we should be better prepared to beat this "deck to beat".

I'll generally board out 1 heritage druid, 1 quirion ranger, 1 priest of titania, and 2 crop rotations for the playset of therapies and single pridemage. If it is early in the game, I'd name stoneforge mystic (or jitte after they've fetched it) in order to prevent them from wrecking our board. Once seeing their hand, I'd flashback to get the supreme verdicts, perishes, or e. plagues if they have those.

I think it's better to board some Decays / Krosan Grips, isn't it? Since you don't know, what you should name with Therapy (Verdict / Explosives / Perish / Plague?), it's better to play around those things by trying to never go 'all in'. Decay / Grip is also a good answer for Plague anyway (even sometimes for Explosives). I also would like to play Pithing Needle in this Match Up, but i can't find a slot for it.

Though I wouldn't fault anyone for boarding in abrupt decays instead of therapies, I don't consider naming stoneforge mystic (or jitte after they've revealed) as going all-in since most stoneblade decks run 4 mystics. That was actually Riley Curran's sb plan when he won SCG Columbus. While it may be personal preference, I think therapy is more versatile in the matchup since it can also discard hate cards (i.e. perish) your opponent has brought in with flashback.

For your main deck, I don't think the 3rd bayou is necessary and I like horizon canopy better than pendelhaven as a crop rotation target. The rest seems fine and is personal preference. For your sb, I think empyrial archangel should be angel of despair if you're planning on bringing that in against SnT/hypergenesis. If it is a NO/gsz target, progenitus would be better. I'd rather have the 3rd decay before k. grip too. Don't know if o-ring is necessary but I think it's fine. Good luck!

I like the idea of siding in Therapy against Esperblade. One thing I've found absolutely miserable playing vs. them is the lack of information - living in the dark, afraid to cast NO in fear of FoW is not very pleasant. Granted, I may be spoiled info-wise due to ANT, but still. When we have an autowin card, I'd like to play it as soon as it is safe. Therapy is pretty rad for that, and gives extra value to the non-combo draw engines in general. Gotta test that next time I play.

Now, I guess standard will have 2 glimpse effect(3 counting Mentor Of The Meek) in the format. I`m curious to see if that card will bring some new strategies in regards to classic Combo elves.

Hey guys, quick question. How do you board against Sneak and Show? I'm going to the GP and that MU is the only one I've faced only twice and each time I've been obliterated by their fast hands.
My SB is:

1 Mindbreak Trap
1 Gaddock Teeg

4 Cabal Therapy

And my list is the standard list with 3 NO MD.

After yesterday's local weekly tourney, I'm a firm believer in 4xCabal Therapy. Do it. And Do It Often.

I have a buddy who only plays Sneak and Show, and sometimes Hive Mind, so I've jammed quite a bit against that deck. You honestly have to hope they don't have the fast hands. Also, you are more afraid of Sneak Attack than Show and Tell. My boarding plan is +4 discard, +Gaddock Teeg, +Karakas. You may want to squeeze a Karakas into your SB. Teeg really slows them down unless they Show and Tell a Sneak Attack into play. In which case, fuck em. They had the hand. Also, anticipate Grafdigger's Cage coming out of their SB to mess up your NO/GSZ. So bringing in Pridemage might not be a terrible idea either.

I would board the same way as danyul. If bojuka bog is in your sb, I'm assuming you're playing 2-2 cradle/rotation split. If so, definitely get a karakas in your sb. If not, bog isn't worth running. Pridemage is also good if they dropped sneak attack without being able to use it right away. The cards I would board out are: -1 forest, -3 visionary, -1 regal force, -1 NO. If you bring pridemage in too, I'd shave a 2nd land, 4th visionary, or 2nd NO. Hope this helps.

Th 'new glimpse' would be cool with wirewood hivemaster, though. Getting double carddraw is awesome, and the beatdown plan will be so much better with tokens. Furthermore, the synergy with wirewood symbiote and hivemaster is cool as well.

At the very least, i'll be testing it!

Oh my. Wow. "Cool" is not exactly the word I would use to describe Beck + Wirewood Hivemaster. More like borderline broken. I'm not really up to date on Elves lists, but it seems like that + the now-stock Crop Rotation and multiple Cradle plan + the old tech of Mirror Entity seems like a very strong build. I don't know where to make room, I'll leave that to people with more experience.
