Yea I always wondered if it's a good idea to just take out the 4 Mox Diamond? You bring in so much vs DnT anyway & this way you keep your land count high(which is good for Tracker, too). Rifstone Portal seems good here, I agree.

To add to this, the recent Recruiter-focused lists these days will sometimes even go to only two Revokers so there's even a less chance of seeing them. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they start keeping them in more often against us now because they know we're more likely to pack Molten Vortex to combat Prelate.
Two other things on the SB plan on the other page vs. D&T, I like keeping in Karakas and Ghost Quarter. Karakas can be good against Thalia GT/HC and Ghost Quarter can get their own Karakas/Wasteland.
Also one thing on the Lands mirror sideboard plan, I'm not sure I'd add in the Dark Depths because they kind of jam up your hand since you can't lay them down without knowing your opponent doesn't have a Stage in hand. Might keep in an additional Maze of Ith instead to force them to have to deal with that before attacking with a Marit Lage.
I play 3 Depths in my 75 cards and I always side two of them out in the mirror. They're a liability and if your opponent has Crop Rotation you can just lose if you play Depths out.
Win the mirror with your creatures like Primeval Titan and Tireless Tracker. Or on the mana denial plan with Ghost Quarter and K-Grip.
Your plan needs to be twofold in this Matchup.
1. Bring in Grips for Blood Moon
2. Bring in Pithing Needle and Chalice. Chalice on 1 will lock a large part of their deck out and you can plan on Loaming to Riftstone if you are missing green or drawing Krosan Grip if you are under Moon.
Chalice on 1 deals with Grindstone as does Pithing Needle. Chalice also cuts off Surgical, Top and their Rebs when Painter is active. I play two Chalice in the Sideboard. It is very very good in this matchup.
3. Bring in Tracker. You can cast this with your Forest, Portal and 4 Mox. It still works under Moon or Magus. And will beat them down when the Lage plan is not happening.
4. Remember that Phyrexian Revoker can cut you off green if your only green is Mox.

so i've been running ghost quarters instead of ports due to ridiculous mtgo pricing on ports. I must say that they have more game against miracles for more reasons than mentioned. had several games where they put the top on top of their deck to stop a crop rotation, allowing me to quarter off a basic like it was a sinkhole. Also had a game where the guy messed up and searched for the basic anyway out of habit.
I have ports for paper magic; don't think I can give them up for quarters, but that may just be because it is out of my comfort zone to part with them.
Even price aside (it's a moot point for me since I own both online), I think the 4 Ghost Quarter strategy is very legitimate.
1) You can actually wrath D+T in a long game now if necessary (usually isn't, but it's nice to have the option to do so).
2) GQ alongside Boseiju is excellent versus Miracles.
3) GQ versus Port against Delver, GQ is superior.
I've been actively trying to find reasons where Port is better. (some really basic heavy deck that I can't think of...?)
Nic Fit and Burn are the two that come to mind.
I ordered the 3 foil Quarters I was missing a bit ago. I like it. I have an event on Friday, I am still undecided on the build.
I'm running one GQ now, but reading the last couple of posts: just swap Port with GQ, or do you guys think a split (something like 3/2 or 2/3 -P/GQ-) is also reasonable?
honestly, with burn or nic fit, i don't find myself porting that often anyway.
1 Forest
1 Glacial Chasm
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
1 Windswept Heath
1 Wooded Foothills
2 Taiga
2 Tranquil Thicket
3 Maze of Ith
4 Dark Depths
4 Grove of the Burnwillows
4 Thespian's Stage
4 Wasteland
4 Mox Diamond
4 Exploration
4 Crop Rotation
4 Punishing Fire
4 Gamble
4 Life from the Loam
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Riftstone Portal
3 Ghost Quarter
2 Molten Vortex
1 Manabond
SB: 4 Krosan Grip
SB: 4 Sphere of Resistance
SB: 3 Chalice of the Void
SB: 1 Karakas
SB: 1 Boseiju, Who Shelters All
SB: 2 Boil
Thats how I run it with GQ right now. 3 GQ no ports leaves room for the 2 Molten Vortex.
One issue I can see is that GQ is worse when the graveyard is removed and they have fetch targets. Its smaller when you need to align those two issues together, but it is worth noting.
That's why I asked if it is better to have split, rather then going all-in on the GQ.
I'm leaning towards a split myself.
I can't find enough space for a split because I already have 3 utility lands in my md (bojuka, boseiju and barbarian ring)
Hi everyone!
I am having some trouble with a few match-ups I know, in theory, should be winable. I've been taking losses to Shardless BUG, and Eldrazi (both variants). As I'm relatively new to the deck, I feel like I might be navigating these match-ups incorrectly. Any advice from some more experienced pilots would be helpful.
Thanks!
For reference, I am running a stock RG lands list with a 2/3 split between Molten Vortex and Punishing Fire. The sideboard has been updated since my last posting:
4x Krosan Grip
4x Sphere of Resistance
3x Tireless Tracker
2x Choke
2x Chalice of the Void
I won't be giving you a SB plan as its better to learn what you need rather than just be told.
You need to think about the way you are loosing to Shardless.
In game one you are heavily advantaged. You have inevitability. They cannot interact with you just playing Land drops and making a Marit lage Token other than through Wasteland.
Their only plan is based around Deathrite and FOW for some tempo and a couple of Goyfs to end the game quickly. With perhaps a wasteland to put your combo back a turn. But they need all of this to go right to win. Just hit your land drops and don't make Marit Lage into Liliana/Jace or Wasteland.
Post board it is harder as they can bring in a large variety of hate. Leyline of the Void, Nihil Spell Bomb, Pithing Needle and Meddling Mage are the most common ones although I have seen Vendillion Clique as a last ditch blocker, Disfigure in multiples to give them an extra turn and even Surgical Extraction, apparently ignoring the fact it is a terrible idea in a cascade deck. It should be said these last three examples are bad cards for them to bring in/I wouldnt expect to see them, but it also is an example of how much the matchup is in your favour as Shardless players scrable about for cards even remotely relevant.
Post board you need to be much more aware of their way of winning; protecting a hate piece, Deathrite usually, and then beating down quickly with Goyf. They will also prioritise wastelands if they are good at the MU.
This should lead you to three main things to remember from the Lands side of the game.
1. Protect Loam / Fire from Spellbomb, Leyline or Deathrite.
2. Have a plan to deal with Goyf beats. Tabernacle, Maze, or aggressively attacking their green mana are solutions.
3. With their superior selection, Brainstorm and Sylvan Library (PB) they can often leave a Wasteland up while developing their board. Remember that you can make a main phase Marit Lage if they can't play Liliana or Jace on their next turn.
There are plenty other tips and tricks for this MU but practice with someone who is good at the Shardless side should start to give you some ideas about what you should be valuing and what roles you each have at certain parts of the match.
Hope this helps

P.s. Shardless often leave in Abrupt Decay for your Moxen and Explorations. This should give you a tip for your sb plan.
