I'm also playing 2 Wear//Tear in my SB. I really love the card as it is so flexible.

If you play black Kolgahn's Command has been good IMHO.
What are the chances of that happening though? That seems like a corner case in a world of 4x Dig Though Time, 4x Cunning Wish, etc.
This is not a great thought, but did anyone ever look into Feldon of the Third Path? He can let you for a pretty ok fee get additional triggers out of our triggered ability creatures. Not perfect of course, but tutorable and does some really silly things with Goblin Welder. Biggest drawback is I think you'd want him in a Welder Heavy Mono-Red list.
Hedgemage against Omnitell isn't at its best, however, in that matchup you're often playing a hard control game where you're slowly but steadily closing doors.
Typically, successful postboard games usually entail tutoring for canonist, then recruiting or tutoring for jaya ballard. Once this happens, you want to dig for ensnaring bridge and more REBs, and picking up a hedgemage along the way is fine as a beater or last ditch if they go for an omniscience, whether or not you have Canonist still out. I can't stress the importance SDT and not cracking your fetchlands to cast mostly irrelevant stuff is, even if you're sacrificing your clock. Recruiter chains are also nice once you have Jaya and Canonist in hand. I almost never play out my threats, and prefer to let SnT resolve. E-tutor is without a doubt the best card, as putting in canonist from SnT with e tutor in hand lets you get bridge on top of your deck in case of emrakul. If this line is a possibility, I never waste blasts on countering SnT.
Hedgemage is worth bringing in here, because in long games, the likelihood of a SnT resolving, but without much to do with the omniscience is likely, and extra effects like this help squeeze out wins in situations you otherwise might lose over the next couple of turns.
Yes, I've played the Omnitell match up many times and it's definitely all about Canonist. The few times I've relied on Hedge-Mage it never works out. They either wish in response or I don't have two plains out to trigger. That's why I'm wondering if seal would actually be better because you can crack in response to spell played so they have to possibly play the wish first. It is also something you can play proactively and then when you drop the Canonist with show and tell you have the answer to the omniscience already in place.

I agree with both of you on how this matchup plays out and how to approach it. I also agree that Canonist is key to the match up.
I'm still not sold on the Hedge-mage in this matchup because franky it could be any 2/X for 3 (or better) based on how this match actually plays out and what is going on, so if we are running Hedge-mage for a reason it's not Omnitell. Against what other decks is the possible enchantment trigger relevant?
IMO: Clearly the game plan is Canonist, but after that's done I'd rather have a more relevant card in the matchup, or something that closes the door faster. Kargan Dragonlord, or Figure of Destiny, or heck something like Eidolon of the Great Revel or Scab-Clanberserker might be better.
I've had the mage blow it up plenty of times. There's a fair share of times all they have is the emmy in hand. Also you can put in canonist, untap and cast mage. In the past two weeks hedge has blown up omniscience, counterbalance, library, and a leyline for me
Upside vs. Counterbalance is the main reason I like hedgemage over vandal, and it's occasionally useful in other scenarios as mentioned above.
I just find it is improbable that you are casting the card without two mountains. Obviously its possible but in the majority of cases it's going to either be manic vandal or a better manic vandal.
As for Feldon, I was actually just thinking about that card as he was one of the exemplar promos. People in the thread talked about him when spoiled but I don't know that anyone really tried him. I was thinking he could be sweet in the r/b list we were talking about. If you are sac'ing recruiter to cabal therapy it seems like you should be able to get some sweet value there. I'm not sure he does enough to really warrant a slot though. Also 1RR is a really frustrating mana cost in my opinion.
IMO, the small upside from Hedge-Mage isn't worth the small risk of him being blank when you need him to be Manic Vandal. That said I don't think Hedge-Mage is a inheretly a bad choice, I just think it's a choice that adds more varriance to the deck. As I said a few pages ago, personal choice.
I agree that Feldon might be best in a r/b list. He's a bit on the expensive / slow side, but he has some powerful interactions with a few of the cards in our deck. He can do a good impression of Goblin Welder when it comes to getting Painters out of the Grave (a bit pricy). He has a really funky interaction with Goblin Welder which reads 2R put a artifact from your graveyard into play. He lets you Recruit from beyond the grave... he seems pretty good with the Pia and Kiran Nalaar, because he nets you two thopters on each activation... Plus I'm sure he does some good stuff with other odd ball cards that I can't think of right now.
The problem with Feldon is that he doesn't really advance your game plan that much. He doesn't really help you combo out and just seems
Like a really expensive goblin welder. Having said that, if you tried to play a black/red version with a strong reanimation strategy then he seems pretty good.

Everyone,
I'm trying to find time to complete this report, but it's taking forever - sorry about that. The cliff notes version looks like this:
2015 Legacy Championship
RD1: BUG Delver [W 2-1]
RD2: Elves [W 2-0]
RD3: Enchantress [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt on Emrakul in game three sealed the deal once Grindstone was activated.)
RD4: OmniTell [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt again sealed the deal on Emrakul.)
RD5: LED Dredge [W 2-0]
RD6: Grixis Delver [L 0-2]
RD7: OmniTell [W 2-1] (Tormod's Crypt late game finished off Emrakul with Grindstone activation for the third time on the day.)
RD8: RUG Delver [W 2-0]
RD9: U/W/r Miracles [L 1-2]
RD10: Junk [W 2-0]
RD11: Merfolk [W 2-1]
Good for 14th place (9-2) with 742 coming out to play. The MVP of the tournament was an unheralded hero out of the sideboard:

Tormod's Crypt not only cleaned up against LED Dredge, it was also instrumental in sealing the deal against all three Emrakul-based match-ups where Dig Through Time was also nullified in multiple situations, as well. My Enchantress opponent was locked under a Moon effect early on, and once he found his third land drop of a basic Plains I immediately Blasted it and kept him locked out of additional pertinent resources. Crypt also ate his graveyard with Emrakul's trigger on the stack.
The other match-ups were fairly elementary: Moon-lock an opponent out of their mana (BUG), Red Elemental Blast and toast the fish (Merfolk) and Pyrokinesis out the little green men (Elves) before turning their deck sideways. My only two losses were to Miracles and the eventual champion (Bob H.), but I still felt confident enough to win. The Miracles match went deep into game three with each of us drawing for our lives; he just found a way out in time.
All in all, a hell of a tournament. It's good to rock the scarecrows again.
Not that I'm all too worried about it, but how exactly does Devoid work with a Painter's Servant in play?
Painters effect should overwrite it. So it will no longer be colorless if I remember correctly.
The key to knowing how painter affects the board is that color effects happen on layer five, which occurs before state-based actions are checked, and is below layers that have to do with things like taking control or text changing effects. For a good reference on layers, see this article on the Mothership

So after some of the recommendations above for an extra piece of artifact removal, I tested a few different cards and have come to realize that Kolaghan's Command is actually really good. It is very versatile and not dead against any MU. The instant discard affect is actually really good against some of the combo decks. For example, if TES doesn't sequence perfectly you can get them to discard their business spell (eg. tutor) in response to their 2nd to last card played, such as a ritual. It might even be main deck worthy as a one or two of. It single-handedly won me a game against a null rod. Being black is the only thing that is keeping me from sticking it in the main.
I've been getting facebook messages about how good k command is in the deck. I haven't tried it myself yet because I've been worried about it with blood moon. You're really making me want to try the r/b list though as I love the card in other decks.
On a different topic. Top 4'd a local event today. For funsies I decided to try playing a dualcaster mage in my maindeck revoker/canonist slot. I figured it would be bad. I wouldn't want to search for it with recruiter and I think 1RR is very inconvenient but the card was solid. It got dazed the first time I cast it which was pretty punishing as I had used a SSG on it. Other than that I was actually pretty happy with it. I've never been upset to have my shardless opponent cascade into brainstorm rather than visions before this event. Still don't think it warrants a slot but at smaller events like this 20-30 people, I'll probably keep doing it.
I was also wondering if you guys have played against the ur delver list that had two copies top 8 the invitational. It was my one loss for the event. I feel like we should be favored but my match history disagrees. I think I've been on the wrong side of variance when I've played it, but I don't like to use that as an excuse. So I basically want to know, should I be worried and does anybody have tips for that matchup?
Lastly, I had chill played against me today. Do you guys think that's good against us? I did the first time I saw it. But today my plan was pretty simple. I chose to put painter on red so that all his removal would be uncastable. Does it usually work out like that? Only my second or third time seeing the card.
I have been quite concerned with grixis delver as of late. A smart opponent has soooo many ways to interact with us. Especially post board.
Ideally game one we protect and resolve blood moon.
Game two look shaky after surgical, therapy, and friends come in.

I don't think chill is that great against us; however I think your opponent simply felt there were enough bad cards in their main that they needed to take out that the sided in some of their other hate. For all we know they could be testing it to see if it's realistic against us and as you demonstrated painter on red can ruin their day due to the symmetrical effect. On UR delver I think it's always going to be tough.
Alright painter players. Post your board in and out for your omni match up! Please include any relevant maindeck cards.
