True, both coming down on Turn 3 - Meekstone is Daze and Spell Pierce proof, where Bridge runs head first into both. Meekstone has a much better chance of answering their T1 Delver.

I won a 20 man tournament today with DnT.
I did not take good notes but I ran this list:
Land: 22
10 Plains
4 Karakas
4 Wasteland
4 Rishadan Port
Creatures: 29
4 Stoneforge Mystic
4 Phyrexian Revoker
4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4 Mother of Runes
3 Fliskerwisp
2 Mangara of Corondor
2 Serra Avenger
2 Mirran Crusader
2 Aven Mindcensor
2 Mangara of Corondor
Spells: 11
4 AEther Vial
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Batterskull
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Umezawa's Jitte
Sideboard:
2 Ethersworn Cannonist
2 Ratchet Bomb
2 Sunlance
2 Wilt-Leaf Liege
2 Rest in Peace
2 Oblivion Ring
1 Pithing Needle
1 Spellskite
1 Cataclysm
Round 1: I played a budget mill-ish deck. Effectively a freebie 2-0
1-0
Round 2: UR Delver 2-1
Lost by getting my creatures burned out.
Won by Death and Taxing him. Thalia and Stoneforge Package were the stars here
2-0
Round 3: BUG Delver
Lost to a resolved Tombstalker
Won through Stoneforge package and mana denial. Mirran Crusader is a complete HOUSE in this matchup
3-0
Round 4: ID with Reanimater 2-1
Played it out for fun and both of us played very loose and probably kept hands that we wouldn't in a real match.
Lost to Tidespout Tyrant
Won with the hate in the SB
3-0-1 cut to top 4
Round 5: Enchantress 2-0
Mana Denial and slow beats took both games easily. Port, Wasteland and Thalia were the keys here.
4-0-1
Round 6: Merfolk (Finals) 2-1
Lost to 2 TNN with a lord pump game 1
Won with Vials and equipment games 2/3. Stoneforge package and Thalia w/ Vials were the important cards in this matchup
All Stars:
Thalia, Stoneforge package, Ports and Wastelands
Didn't use much:
Mangara, Flickerwisp (sort of)
This was my first time playing the deck and it was a lot of fun. I would make a few changes to the deck. I would add 1 land, probably a Horizon Canopy and I will add 2 Brimaz when the price drops on that card. I didn't feel a need to get Brimaz at $35 a piece and while it appears to be a great card, I don't know that I **needed** them. Cuts will likely be 2 Aven Mindcensor and 1 Flickerwisp or 1 Mangara of Corondor.
The sideboard was for a random meta that I new nothing about. Ratchet Bomb, Sunlance and Rest in Peace were great. Didn't see and/or use the rest.
Andrew Shrout at the SCG open played a list with a full set of SotL.
Someone saw the coverage? Did he have a feature match? If so, do we have new data on the impact of the spirit?
- L
Well I saw the match vs esper blade. Game 1 could have been played better by shrout i guess.
He kept not using wasteland and I think that gave the opportunity to its esper opponent to develop.
Also, I think that in game one, he draw multiple spirits of the labyrinth, that would have been way much better if they were Flickerwisp :p
Game 2, he was a little short on mana, so not so many things ot say about that.
I wasn't impressed by Andrew shout playstyle with D&T.
MD Spirit seems rather terrible and Shrout admitted in the deck tech that he didn't test SotL.
I wouldn't read too much into it. He tried it out and it kinda sucks. End of story.
What might have some merit is the black splash, though. Zealous Persecution protects against enemy -1/-1 effects, leads to blowouts in the mirror, fights Elves and kills TNN. Sounds pretty good on paper. And as long as you have a low Scrubland with a higher white fetchland count, it shouldn't make the deck much more susceptible to Wasteland. Stifle doesn't see too much play right now. Blood Moon (especially on T1) becomes way stronger against us this way, but hey, we can't have everything. One guy in the Salvation thread suggested running Bob as well. His creature configuration looked like this:
4 mother of runes
4 stoneforge mystic
4 phyrexian revoker
3 thalia, guardian of thraben
3 dark confidant
3 serra avenger
3 flickerwisp
2 brimaz, king of oreskos
Who knows, Bob is a pretty strong card and gives the deck some CA engine which we rather lack outside of SFM equipment fetching and SOFaI draws.
Just got the cards to build this deck!!!! Thinking about an aggro route instead of mango (mangara and flickerwisp)

This is just a rough draft. Sent while watching TV so I apologize for watching Big Bang Theory and not caring about the English language. Bazinga!
I can only agree with this.
Flickerwisp flies over TNN, and it can remove a blocker for a full turn at end of turn for the aggro route, with the additionnal side effect of being good in a lot of situations...
Need to remove Jitte from TNN? flicker it!!
Need to get rid of that batterskull token? Flicker it.
Damned, my karakas is tapped because of back to basics and my opponent just played a show and tell... flickerwisp it and bounce back emrakul into his hand!! :p
You need to port your opponent's land, but you don't have rishadan port? flickerwip it during it's upkeep!!
etc... etc...
Also, i'd remove crusader before Brimaz i guess. BRimaz can survive an encouter with TNN... Crusader is good vs jund/BuG and those two decks are less prevalent than Lightning bolt decks like UWR or RUG.
I'd swap a Brimaz and two crusaders for either 3 Mangara or 3 Flickerwisp. Both give you outs to problematic bullshit; Flickerwisp is more immediate, flies and is 3/1, but not a permanent answer; Mangara removes anything he can target and synergizes better with 4 Karakas, but won't be attacking anytime soon.
I'd sooner do Mangara, but that's a personal preference thing.
Revisions to board plan are in red.
I've been playing this deck for a while now, and always thought Mirran Crusader was subpar most of the time. What is the general concensus concerning switching the 2-3 Crusaders for Brimaz? What do we gain from this?
I would definitely play Brimaz over crusader, since Brimaz's durability, vigilance and Karakas-synergy all make him better than Crusader. The tokens null Liliana's -2 and on a completely empty board, Brimaz does more damage over time (4-5-6-etc vs crusader's 4-4-4...)
Sent from my mobile phone; please ignore spelling errors or grammatical laziness.
This might be a little cute (read: narrow), but has anyone done any testing with Serene Master? My local meta is a probably a little more creature heavy than most, but it has some pretty decent applications. It blanks Batterskull and Jitte holders not named True-Name nemesis or Insectile Abberation and holds the ground against everything. Plus, it makes StP a little better. Thoughts?
I did a while back and for a long time, but sadly real life keeps me from doing it anymore...
Seems like DnT had trouble against the field in Paris, although a handful (8/186?) made day 2. Counter/Top isn't exactly pretty against us, and Terminus is pretty harsh, too...
I'm pretty happy with 2x Brimaz. I ran 3x Karakas / 1x Eiganjo Castle, and the latter is worth it now. Against Delver, it makes a big difference as it saves most of your important dudes from chump block / bolt.
Just got my 2 copies of Brimaz, and I just have to say the card is insane. Playing several locals/testing with my play group there was never time he was not an immediate impact. RUG cannot kill him, he survives a half the removal in american delver and he laughs off punishing fire. he single handily stole me several game ones versus my jund friend, and sideboard games were just a joke. One game two i played, (i was on the play) went turn one mom, turn two thalia, turn three brimaz, turn four wilt-leaf liege. My jund opponent just cried.
mirran crusader has been my favorite card for so long in this deck, but after testing this week he is just no where near as good as brimaz. I will be moving the one remaining crusader i have main to the sideboard to make room for a second aven mindcensor or mangara.
secondly has anybody been running celestial flare in the sides for tnn? I have moved three to my board and they have just been amazing for me. I wanna know if anyone else is having the same success with the card.
I played with 2 Brimaz maindeck for the first time and I have to say it was REALLY good. Its an all in one stabilizer. It dug me out of a hole against fish and affinity. It ability to block attack and make guys is just bonkers. That being said I dont think you want to go above two, but running less than two in a non combo heavy meta has to be wrong
