I lent a random new guy my Highlander before the event because he had no deck and just wanted to play - he actually went 2-2 defeating Landstill. Twice.

And no, I didn't participate in the event - watching the games was so much more fun than anything else imaginable (especially the one game where the Highlander player actually lost a game to Meddling Mage (chanting Eternal Witness) due to him ripping the named card of the top in his last possible draw was truly epic).

Reading a few reports from that thread to get an idea of the metagame, the more common sights seem to have been Thresh, Red-based aggro and Green-based aggro-control (Survival, Loam, or Deed). No Storm, but a fair bit of other combo decks (Aluren, FEB, Ichorid).
