Since I see a uptick in combo-decks I will switch to Ports and SoR as well.

@chatto try trinisphere as well, it's always nice when the oppo plays s&t for omniscience and put it into play :-)
I will always remember one game I had vs omnitell back in the DTT era where my opp went turn 1 show and tell while i had trinisphere in hand. I'm like ohh I got this!!!
He went directly to emrakul....I did not top deck a karakas and crop rotation would of been doa with the trinsphere.
It was my first or second round in my first tournament w/ Lands.
Best memory of Trinisphere:
This was a friday Trial at GP Lille. Second game, opponent is on three lands, casts SnT, drops Omniscience. I drop Trinisphere, his eyes roll away, I manage to Port and Waste him into oblivion. He concedes, on to g3.
Game three, opponent casts SnT into Omniscience, while I drop Trinisphere. Again, my opponent isn't happy at all, and I take the turn. I cast K-Grip, my opponent concedes.
hi all,
i'd love some help tuning my list to my meta with an eye towards the 4c loam, d&t, and reanimator (both black+red and blue+black) matchups.

2 Pithing Needle
4 Tireless Tracker
happy to answer questions about the meta, my list, or anything else that's helpful.
Try boseiju main, it will help a lot your g1 against miracles. With crop for ring/p.fires/vortex you should have enough g1 against d&t to cut seismic assault (great but hard to play). I suggest to reserve 1 sideboard slot for a sweeper (k.return or sulfur elemental) and to have at least one trinisphere for combo (chalice could not be enough to stop omni or ant).
What are people's thoughts about Karakas nowadays? I haven't been impressed lately. Same goes for Thicket: went from two, to one, and then swapping it for Horizon Canopy. Any thoughts about both cards?
I have found I want Karakas more than Bog of late. R/B Reanimator, Leo, SnT... I am eating graves a lot less, thinking of benching Bog in the sideboard.
As for Canopy, I still want instant speed interaction against Surgical they can't see. But I can understand the wish to drop it. I still prefer Canopy from my first builds. It's just binned right now because of Surgical.
Just to explain, I normally want Karakas over Bog against Reanimator these days because they are so much faster than they use to be and can reload so much easier now than they could when playing Blue. They just run too much business over the dig.
Karakas is a sideboard card for me atm because they could interact with it (like drawing 7) and couldn't do anything with public enemy n1: their tyrant.
I don't like canopy and I always mained 1-2 thickets but with surgicals everywhere I switched to a 4th fetch with the 4 chalices-4 trackers sb plan and thicket suddenly became a comes-into-play-tapped forest.
Same here, also on 1 Canopy 0 Thicket, Bog MD, Karakas SB.
D&T, Leovold and other applications make you want Karakas. But the SneakShow matchup is still terrible. I don't like cutting Karakas completely (as Daryl Ayers did) but it's something you can do.
Tireless Tracker ''outclassed'' Tranquil Thicket, you just want untapped solid lands or other utility MD because you will draw cards with Clues anyway.
I really like Bog main, can occasionally make a Storm, Aggro Loam or Grixis player stumble & is your best interaction with BR Reanimator IMO
- you can easily GQ or Waste your own Bojuka Bog to re-use it (this seals the deal basically)
- Mox Diamond plays around Chancellors nicely to get through T1/T2 Crop Rotation
- unless they Thoughtseize you (which they mostly play on themselves), Crop Rotation into Bog is almost unbeatable. After the first Bog, you usually have a small breathing room to deny their mana or set up a 2nd Bog.
This is just my experience. After boarding, it gets even harder for them with Sphere of Resistance. If you mulligan correctly etc. it's a good matchup.
Karakas I found to be almost useless against Reanimator (compared to Bog)
- they get Sire and you have to topdeck Maze of Ith.
- they get Griselbrand and draw million cards to go off with other creatures, probably Tidespout.
- they get Tidespout Tyrant
- they might have Archetype of Indurance
- they just reanimate Chancellor which is easier to play through but can be hard
- well, in case of Iona you're good if you draw a natural Karakas...but you see where this goes.
- it's still an important piece, especially post-board when they might use Sneak Attack or Show and Tell.
Just some of my thoughts :)
Karakas is a sideboard card for me atm because it's almost useless against omniscience or sneak attack and even with reanimator they can interact with it (like drawing 7-14 and win anyway) and doesn't do anything with public enemy n1: their tidespout tyrant.
I don't like canopy in general and I always mained 1-2 thickets but with surgicals everywhere I switched it in favor of a 4th fetch. With the 4 chalices-4 trackers sb plan thicket is often a comes-into-play-tapped forest.
Thanks for the replies. I'm playing Bog main (I agree it is pretty sweet vs most gy-dependant decks, Storm -if you time it well-, including BR Reanimator), and Karakas in my sb.
Same goes for maindeck Canopy: EtB untapped is relevant. I will leave it like this for now.
Does anybody followed yesterday's "snapcasters" Legacy streaming? There was a guy in top 8 with a U-lands deck but was 1am my time and I felt asleep...I was curious about the list and how well it performed
Iirc he was playing a pretty a stock RUGb list, I don't know about any other spiciness but I did see a walking Walking Ballista watching him play.
Been seeing Ballista popping up in RUG Lands, Turbo Depths, and Tezzerator lately as a tool against D&T and Miracles. Makes me kind of jealous that RG doesn't appear to have a good way to leverage it as effectively as the other decks thanks to a lack of Academy Ruins/Volrath's Stronghold or Tolaria West.
We do have Buried Ruin, which I was thinking about because of the four SoR, and two CotV in my sb. Still, isn't the same as RUG Lands, of course.
What would you say are the hard match-ups these days, beyond ANT, Imperial Painter, and TES?
