No, because she is an ability granting effect and not a type changing effect herself. She'll always be applied after in a later layer.

Neat.
We'll have to wait for the conditions that meet "defeat" but I do think it's new space and not the worst.

I imagine that they'll turn out to be something that could have been implemented as planeswalkers without loyalty abilities.

who cares if it could? Battle is thematically better and oh hey look a whole thread for this take of yours already exists:

I assume you can knock down the number on it with combat damage, which makes it a cross between Planeswalkers and Monarch/Initiative.
That would make the most sense, at least.
I don't get why you have to jump through the hoop of casting it again, though, giving it an extra round to get countered.

There's a few things you can do if you template it this way, like putting instants and sorceries on the back

Whether or not the mechanic turns out to be any good, this execution is good and is a far cry from some of the "just Kicker with a paint job" things we've seen before. New card type justified imo
Re: March of the Machines Spoiler Thread (or 'What if we put all our lore in a blende
I sort of wonder if each Subtype of Battle will have slightly different ways to transform them though? That is, if we see anything besides Sieges.
Re: March of the Machines Spoiler Thread (or 'What if we put all our lore in a blende
I heard talk of three different modes:
Siege is where they defend and you win by attacking
The reverse where they attack and you get paid out by surviving
Then a neutral "capture" mode where both players attack and whoever gets there gets a thing

I appreciate any accidental admission that damage should just be the ubiquitous way to destroy things and absolute destroy effects rare, which would also in turn just make white magic more generically powerful.
Re: March of the Machines Spoiler Thread (or 'What if we put all our lore in a blende
Just as a lark I'm going to guess the other types are raid and melee
Re: March of the Machines Spoiler Thread (or 'What if we put all our lore in a blende
I feel this could have been somehow templated as enchantment similar to sagas, but this design seems ok.
What annoys me is that this card type seems to rely entirely on DFCs which I don't like.
It's the usual trap of "thing is popular, lets do as much of thing as possible" until people grow sick of it.
If they have to do DFC at all, at least reserve it for sets where it makes sense and not every other set now.

...maybe?
If you reveal 1 dragon you can dome for 4, which means you're only missing out on 1 damage when you attack this instead of just your opponent, assuming you're always attacking for exact amounts. It'll feel bad if this is at 1 and you can only hit it with a 3/3.
Additionally, unless they implement some dumb planeswalker inherent legend rule that's baked in, with 4 mana and 3 dragons in hand, you could play 1, dome for 5, play the second and flip the first one right away.

We've been told that removing the the last counter is what you need and when you factor in Queen Marchesa that was spoiled (a six mana "complete your battles...battle") I think it's safe to say that's how it works.

I feel like damage putting counters on it would have been better templating but that probably makes it "too good" with proliferate.
At least "removing the last counter" makes it not work with "can't have counters" stuff and makes it good to Stifle.
