Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
Proud to announce this will be my first 24-k sanctioned tournament.
Been an advanced level TO for a while, but waited to put request in for higher K value until a really special event came along that warranted it. For me this was it. I was approved and as a result this event will be 24K.
While it's competitive level rel, the emphasis will still be on fun.
I'm sincerely looking forward to this one more than anything I've run since becoming a store owner.
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and see you on the 12th.

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
Attached a miniature version of my flyer to the original post in case someone wants one. Posting flyers around the store. Very excited for the combination of RI States and this back-to-back.
Still working on some last minute additions for The Big One. Have a couple things in mind but for now they will remain surprises.
Stay tuned.

Looking like a few of us from CT should be showing up for this thing.

sounds good =D
It's the holiday season, and I like giving away stuff :p
So I decided to add another $50 in bonus prizes...
DHG Bonus prizes: $50 for 50!
If 50 or more entrants show, $50 in store credit will be added and divided as follows:
$30 Thanks for always being there prize:
There have been 4 players who attended all four of my Saturday legacy tournaments since I took the store over in May. Sam Wang, Tom MacDonald, Rod Cordoba and Dana Renfrew. The highest placing player of these 4 will win $30 store credit in addition to any other prizes won.
$10 Kird Ape prize:
Highest placing finisher with Kird Ape in their deck or sideboard will win $10 store credit in addition to any other prizes won. You can even play just one copy if you want.
$10 Nice to meet you prize:
Highest placing new player will receive $10 store credit in addition to any other prizes won. New player is defined as someone who has not played in one of my prior 4 Saturday Legacy tournaments this year. If you've been meaning to come down but couldn't for whatever reason... come on down!
--------------
Saw local tourneys not getting the crowds they thought they would lately. I'm confident this will be my biggest Legacy tourney ever, but I wanted to add a little more prize just to sweeten the deal.
Thanks again for supporting my events.
This will probably be my final update before the tournament.
See you Saturday

Dave Sadly I don't think I'll be able to make this one :-( finals are here and it just doesn't seem like it is going to happen.

Just think if you win store credit, you can celebrate by buying cigars!
You just won't be able to use store credit on them since I don't sell cigars :p

Speaking of side events, I have some special ones planned.
Will do mah famous $12 sanctioned drafts. For those not familiar, I usually pay out to top 4 people in these single elim drafts. I do a goody table of type 2 prizes and we have alot of fun on Wed. If any go off Sat, I will pay out prizes to all top 8 of each draft.
Also if I don't get 60 people for the main event, I plan on doing side events for those fetchlands. The hope is I just get 60 so I can pay out to top 16.
Remember past 60 people I'll add even more prizes
One final reminder on the time:
I'll be starting at 12 noon sharp on the button. For real :p
For past tourneys I'd be able to wait for latecomers, but it can't be done for The Big One. I'm opening doors at 10, a full 2 hours before start time. I would recommend being here by 11:30 to give yourself time to do decklists, trades, buying things from me :p
Round 1 will go up at noon, so please be here before then.
Was able to get additional room for this event should I need it. Have my staff ready. Have prizes ready. I'm ready
See you Saturday.

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
So Dave Feinstein, guess what, I AM going to make this one. I think Ben Lukas should get some kind of door prize for making me go.

Nice Job Ben, just better hope I don't have to rape you in the Swiss again.
24K + My Rating = bad times for you

It's weird to win a tournament and lose points.

I never had any doubt you were coming
As I type this it's 3AM. I have gotten hordes of cards just for tomorrow.
Loaded up on singles. Will do whatever I can to help people finish decks.
Just please come early, because parking will be a challenge thanks to the farmer's market. My building had like 6 different parking lots but it will still take you some time to park more than likely.
Give yourself time to settle in, do your decklist (if you aren't bringing one) and whatever else you need to do. I'm encouraging people to get here by 11:30. Round 1 will be up at noon.
That's all I have. I must go back to sorting cards for another hour or so, then sneak in some sleep. I normally don't sleep much for my big events. This is my biggest event of the year so it's only fitting I get no sleep
See you in the morning

Tourney was fun. 40 people on teh button.
Top 4 split all the blue duals.
5th-8th got more duals,
I still gave out bonus store credit prizes despite not getting 50 people.
top 4 was:
Jon Ma /w Merfolk
Kevin Correia /burn
Sam Wang /w Enchantress
Jason Bourque /w Goblins
I'm so very tired. But had a great time and I hope everyone else did.
Will have pics/decklists up in a day or two.
Thanks :)

This was a very fun tourney, and Daves prize support was nuts. I REALLY hope he has another. The meta was very fun and diverse.
I played
Round 1 Brassman top artifact crap with annoying Academy ruins :frown:
Round 2 Ichorid
Round 3 Fairy Stompy
Round 4 Combo
Round 5 WGB control/agro
Round 6 Zoo
@ brassman, sweet altered cards man! Keep it up!
This was durring finals and Xmas mania for everyone I knew, so many people didn't go. Also there were some big vintage tourneys which I think sponged people from this shit.

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
Oh another deck I just remember that was in top 8 was GWB Rock

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
I was playing Zoo and made top 8.

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
Thanks Dave for another memorable competition & for the set of Savannah. It was unbelievable when my Stingscourger's bounced Dreadnought turns 2-4 but only to delay an inevitable trample due to a 4th stifle! That was my favorite predicament among many epic battles.

Re: 12/12 Die Hard Games: THE BIG ONE
I was playing Sam Wang and would have made top 8 (playing Tempo Thresh) but I fail at keeping Goyf's power updated and he ended the game at 1 life. I feel like a noob

At least the whole day wasn't a fail bro. I continued my streak of losing rating points at these tournaments - except this time it wasn't with a top 8 finish  .

That's some savage prize support for the Vintage event! I'll definitely try and make it down for that one.
