If you wanted to move this for the sake of non conflicting with the washington tournement, then the weekend of June 14,21,28 and July 5th, would be no good for us. Postponeing it two weeks, or bumping it up 3 weeks would be fine.

Re: 06/28/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
July 12th-ish seems to make a lot of sense. Neither a GP nor an EPIC road trip nor another previously scheduled event seems to be occurring within 2 weeks, which would give your tournament priority & make anyone later be the interloper. Just beware that it might pose a dilemma for all the Spanish players having to choose between traveling to this & GP Madrid on 7/26....
-
Re: 06/28/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
Moving it earlier is better than later I think.
-
Re: 06/28/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
so july 12th is looking like the best date... and its official i will be changing the prize support to top 8 cash payouts, i will be updating the original post. thank you all for in puts!

Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
Heres a crazy thought. why not have it the week before the GP in indianapolis. Im not sure howe many legacy players want to attend the GP but if I have a chance to win some of my travel expenses to Indy Id totally be there. This may be the best strategy. Heck event those going to Washington mightmake the trip to try and win extra travel cash.
-
Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
Sweet, I might make this. A few weeks after the East Coasters get stomped in Washington, I can add insult to injury and take prizes from your home turf!
Is anyone going to this from the Long Island area? I'd be willing to split gas.
And/Or will anyone put me up for a night or two that weekend in Syracuse? Mapquest says it's a five hour drive. Will I have any luck trying to get a train between those two places?
-
Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
There is a train station literally 1 minute's walking time from Carousel Mall. I have taken said train to NYC in the past, so it shouldn't be a problem.

It looks like you have to cross 81. Is this feasible on foot?

It is if you use the overpass bridges with the sidewalks...otherwise you takes your chances....
-
Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
81's actually an elevated highway at that point - you'll walk beneath an overpass getting to the mall from the station. No troubles.
-
Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
AngryTroll:
yes its walkable from the train station across the way. take you about 5ish mins total to walk from there to the mall. if i hear of anyone coming from the Long Island area i will pass on that you're looking for a ride/gas split.

its about a 5 Hour drive, but about 4 of Team Hammafist's members should be making the trip and spending a weekend in Syracuse.

Syracuse will never be the same.

I can't think of better place then to spend your entire weekend in Syracuse.
Have a safe drive and I'm sure you'll have fun up here.

Just make sure you bring it because this is the place where Legacy was born.

Don't worry about that, we're coming from MA, you know the state that perfected legacy  [Isn't trash talk fun  ]

All of MA should be going.

Left Field will dominate this event, as usual.

Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
If anyone needs a place to crash for this, let me know. I have a huge apartment with a bunch of couches. PM me first.

I have several questions:
-So far the prize structure looks really great, so this is going to sound greedy. If many people come up from MA and VA there could be a big turnout. Would it be possible to have a prize structure in the event of turnout of 40-70 people?
-What does pre-registering entail? Can I just say please pre-register (insert my name here)? Or do I have to pay in advance?
EDIT-PRE-REG LINK:

-What are PGMCKU points?
-Will there be side-events? (It's a bit early-I know )

Based on history, it's unlikely the support will increase past the advertised, regardless of attendance. That's fine though, remember that the store is a business, and has bills to pay.

It requires you pay in advance. There's a place to do so on the website (or will be, closer to the date), which is linked in the opening post.

It's a competition that runs locally all summer; you gain points for entering and doing well in events, and gain store credit based on your ending results.

It's way early, but there's usually a draft or something.

Thanks for the quick response Nightmare.

Does this mean that PGMCKU points are of no value to those only in town for this particular tournament?

Pretty much.
By the way, it stands for "Play the Game Master of the Known Universe," or something like that.

Play the Game Magic Championship of the Known Universe

That title is irrelevant to me. I want to win the whole damn thing.

Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
I don't know if this event is still going to be held as scheduled, but the Eventide Pre-Release is this same weekend. Rob is already aware, but I figured I would put it out there for those players who may be traveling because of the event. I am sure there will be an update soon.
-
Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
I feel playing Legacy (with cash prizes) > Pre-release.

You might feel that way, but any time an event has been held in Syracuse the same weekend as the Pre-Release, several people voice the same opinion, yet most end up at the Pre-Re instead.
I just felt it necessary to give a heads up that there was a conflict. If Altered wants to risk losing the money by holding the event the same weekend as Eventide, then so be it.

Sweet. I wish you the best of luck Trevor. Hopefully you'll be able to make another impressive top 8 performance.
I think the date works much better, can't wait for this tourney.

Re: 07/12/08 $1000 cash prize Legacy Play the Game
So, is this a definite change? We should find out as soon as possible so we can take time off for it from work.
