I really don't like Consuming Contract. Since the draw 2 lose 2 is relatively painless, it's just a big Phyrexian Arena with upside of maybe destroying creatures or whatever blank is. A draw engine that strong with upside would have to cost 5+ for Standard, thus causing my eyes to glaze over in disinterest.
The number of two, three card combos that would win the game in formats like EDH would be staggering. Not even necessarily infinite ones, you're just talking about a huge amount of potential cheap card advantage with no drawback.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
You may cast creature cards from your graveyard for 3 mana would be obscene. And they don't even exile? Memnite and all those other 0 mana creatures, meet squee in terms of fogging a creature. It makes unearth as a mechanic look like a joke. In order to print that card, it would probably cost some ridiculously high cost like 7 mana/hello EDH and standard, goodbye to everything else.
I hope eldritch rites gets there and with an aggressive casting cost. If the end result of this YMTC is another vanish into memory...big sigh.

Eldritch Rites is a bad card. Having to sacrifice a nontoken creature to give flashback to one black instant or sorcery slaughters it. Note that Yagwmoth's Will draws you your entire graveyard for one turn, so it gives you an absurd amount of card advantage, while this one suggestion is always card disadvantage and has a lot of hidden costs (having to have a creature card in your hand, having to cast it, having to pay the manacost of the spell in your graveyard). Eldritch Rites is a (probably worse) pseudo-Holistic Wisdom. Don't let R&D fool you. This YMTC is already another vanish into memory, IMHO, because no matter how aggresively you cost them, these cards will be worse than other options that are already available to us.
The most playable card from this (rather poor) selection is Double Down, though modern players might prefer to vote "Blood in the Watering Can" instead.

One thing to keep in mind is that the card will still go through Development. There is a possibility that it can be improved - either to flash back any card, or allowing the sacrifice of tokens.

I wouldn't count on that - see Vanish into Memory.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Spanish Inquisition (robots + Culling the Weak-based storm combo) could be extremely happy with Eldritch Rites if the cost isn't completely absurd. It's a really niche deck though.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
I think spanish inquisition players (me included) have a losing battle against all the casuals playing milling decks that are right now drooling over Double Down.

I would love it if the card cost B. Would be insane in mirror/mirror-like match ups.

But who knows. The minimum casting cost on most of these is probably like 2BB or worse to appeal to the EDH crowd.

Most of these could actually fit the :1::b: Johnny-Black rare slot.

Agreed. Most of those cards wouldn't completely suck in the 1-2 mana range. But I still get a feeling that they're going to overcost them just because.
At the end of the day, it all comes down how deep Maro has his dick buried into the design decisions.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
At first I thought all the choices were terrible, but after giving it a few days I think some of these might be ok.
Contract - If the 3rd ability is something like "target player discards their hand" or "look at target players hand and they discard 2 cards of your choice" I could see it in the sb of a combo deck. Draw 2, kill a hatebear and clear the way. Mana cost would have to be BB at the most though.
Double Down - This card could be great. Board it in against Dredge or play with it as dredge. It would have to cost BB at the most.
Eldritch Rites - I could see it being used in pox. You have bloodghast and nether spirit to sac. You can flash back innocent blood, small pox, pox and hymn. If it costs B I could see it getting some play.
Demonic Bargin - If the X is a set number like 5 or is pay X life to add X counters I could see it being played. Its mana cost would probably have to be B.
Watering Can, Mass Mummification, Soulfeaster's Rising and Revenge of Necromancy are unplayable at any cost.

They've already confirmed on twitter that X will be in the mana cost.

Well, you can move that one to the unplayable category then.

I'd play the shit out of Double Down or Revenge of Necromancy at :1::b:.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Revenge of Necromancy could make black based discard decks very good. It breaks the symmetry of Pox potentially, and gains resources or card advantage from playing their discard spells, or ticking up lily.

The main thing I dislike about it is that it does nothing on its own. If you have no discard or both players have empty hands, it's quite useless.
I also hate the land mode. Aside from most modern discard excluding discarding lands, you would also have to find an immediate use for the mana or it does absolutely nothing. If Revenge wins, I hope that gets changed.

Revenges main application imo isn't to turn Liliana of the Veil into a carddraw engine or turn discard spells into cantrips but is able to create a new combo Engine with Reforge the Souls and Whispering Madness in Modern ... for at least 3 months till the banhammer lol

Agreed, the land part is a downer and largely a waste. Hymn or Lily only can hit lands. Good part is Duress/Seize/IoK become 2/2s or cards drawn.
If either of them are over 2 mana they hurt their chances of seeing play in eternal.
Contract hugely depends on what the missing part of the clause requires a player to do.
Edit: Lemnear^ Your deck already sounds fun.
Re: WotC Presents: You Make the Card 4
Eldritch Rites got disqualified because the creator is from Finland.
