A friend of mine said to me that he had seen tom ross playing two lands during the match vs Landstill.
Don't know exactly when, but he said that the sequencing was like this:
Tom ross plays a land, cast crop rotation that is countered by a Force of will, then he casts treasure cruise and replays a land.
I don't have acces to the video right now. Did anyone witness that? I have a hard time believing Ross cheated...
It's a ridiculous position to imply that a mistake in the game is always a result of cheating. It's cynical and perhaps nowadays even an understandable position but ridiculous nonetheless.Quote:

I actually remember noticing that when he was playing, I did not think a whole lot of it. Thought, maybe I had missed something at my end, so much was happening.
Seeing how much was happening and that this is an isolated incident, I am willing to say he fucked up, not he had malice intent. There is, as far as I know, no pattern of this. A one off is sloppy play, not cheating. I know I myself have done far worse.
Pretty sure Ross just got confused over the span of his turn, as he had some serious considerations going on.
Didn't look planned, at least.
Is there a thread, which discusses the winning deck (uwr stoneblade)? Maybe I am blind.
It looks very strong, because it utilizes the strength of UR delver decks (mainly Treasure Cruise with cheap spell spam), while also having a superior plan against said deck(s) in the SFM package. It is also interesting that he picked Young Pyromancer over Delver.
He dropped the drawn Inkmoth and the Tropical he returned to Daze the turn earlier in the same turn. I'm not sure if it really mattered for his hand or the upcoming turns.Quote:

Started 5-1, made a misplay against Owen Turtenwald game 3 to barely lose. It's been 1.5 days and I'm still disgusted with myself.
My friends got to play human disasters during the first few rounds, all of my opponents were pretty reasonable. You need luck to win events like this.
The logistics of the event made it very unenjoyable to me. Maybe I'm too old for this shit.

Why? Are you a childhood friend? The guy has won an inordinate amount of events in a game with a high degree of skew. I don't understand this white knighting for these people. I err on the side of cheating, if anything if he's such a pro you'd think the chance of playing two lands is even lower. You might say, 'he wouldn't risk his e-Reptuation by cheating on camera' but look at the evidence to the contrary.Quote:

I can't believe Wizards hasn't found something to prevent people from playing multiple lands in a turn especially in the top 8 of an event with 200 judges. If you'd to play your first land with a marker or turned 180 degrees it would reduce the odds of playing additional lands in a turn.

Tom Ross has been under the cameras a lot lately. I highly doubt that he was interested in cheating under those circumstances. It was a very long tournament. Anybody here who thinks they haven't done similar or worse things when they were tired at the end of a long tournament is certainly mistaken. I'm betting nobody is more embarrassed by the footage of the double land play than Tom Ross.
