Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
I've been playing Drop of Honey for awhile now. I like it a lot. I am unfortunately unable to test it in a large field like GP Vegas due to familial obligations.
I like Drop of Honey to deal with Leovold and True Name Nemesis. It is good to 2 for 1 opponents. It is also sometimes good against Show and Tell, but it just depends on what they put into play. Does nothing against Sneak Attack and Omniscience. It is also good against any deck we like Tabernacle against.

Welcome to high society! If you're like most of us, you'll never look back.
Lands is a deck-to-beat, and I just learned The Canadiens picked up Drouin. Good birthday so far!

I think I'm going to try a 3rd EE in my 76 - especially if that new Magus becomes annoying.
I'm leaning more and more to wanting to try out Drop though...

How much DoH(!) do you play?
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
So, I've been travelling a lot for work this year and haven't had the chance to play much for 6 months. Just decided to play in a small event and checked the banned and restricted list to find out that Top had been banned for a couple of months now. I'm just blown away. I don't disagree that it ate up tons of clock time but I am surprised that they acted on that. (on MTGO, I used to run spells into counterbalance counters on purpose to eat the opponent's clock time and force them to activate top 2-3 times in a turn. Because of this, I have a really good win percentage against the deck type on MTGO; far better than my paper win percentage against the deck)
Frees up less sideboard space than I would have thought though, going to 3 grips and dropping the boseiju.
I run a pretty stock R/G list with 4 depths, 4 grove, 4 Pfire and 2 manabond
SB now probably going to;
3 grip
3 tracker
4 sphere of resistance
2 chalice
2 Kozilek's return
karakas
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
So, here's my first video in about a year:
Building a Fortress #170.
This video features all five matches in a recent Legacy League event, so enjoy. Unfortunately, the sound is screwed up until mark 9:45, so just skip to that point. You only miss out on the first couple of turns of the first game of the first match. Otherwise, the sound is good.
Enjoy!
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Jody Keith is on camera at the GP right now with Lands in round 12 against Merfolk, both at 10-1.

What a match, too. Very inspiring. I was just about to sleeve up RUG when this inspired me to stick to RG for a bit longer.
@Gigapatrick - looking forward to watching them! Thank you for the content!
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Jody drew into top 8 according to twitch chat. Hope that's true.
EDIT: First match on stream of the top 8!
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Grats to Jody for the top 4!
EDIT: Jarvis in 9th too!
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
I can't wait to watch the games. It's also nice to see the list is so tuned. We are at the point now where there is very little flex in the build. An extremely well tuned deck.
Drop has been bought out on ebay it seems. If you guys want it, look on MKM. I think it's a good card, but I ain't spending 400 au for two. It's not that good a card.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Finished 11-4 at vegas. Pretty happy with the results although some of my losses were just mulling to oblivion which sucked. Love the deck overall.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Was it the same list you posted recently? I played a little with it online and it felt great.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Worth buying now Drop of Honey or its just a metagame call? dont want get something expansive and be useless soon.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Congrats to those who piloted successful finishes at Las Vegas!
I went an unimpressive 5-4 in the main event. Unfortunately most of my matches were uneventful. I found myself being the victim of some critical Wastelands against my only delver opponent. Other than that, played vs a ton of combo. List for reference: https://deckstats.net/decks/16827/749587-rg-lands
R1: 1-2 vs BR Reanimator
R2: 2-0 vs ANT
R3: 2-1 vs BR Reanimator
R4: 0-2 vs DnT (miserable mull to 4 game 1, mull to 6 game 2). Palace Jailer with no targets was completely insane.
R5: 2-1 vs ANT
R6: 2-1 vs Burn
R7: 2-0 vs Red DnT (Molten Vortex was absolutely insane, I'm glad I included at least 1 in the 75 because I was expecting to face at least one blood moon deck in the day).
R8: 0-2 vs Bug Delver (he drew 3 wastelands game 1, and actually remarked how terrible my deck treated me in the match)
R9: 0-2 vs Painter ( )
Unfortunately, I don't really have much to takeaway from this event. I'm playing the normal number of colored sources that most people are playing (4 mox, 4 grove, 3 fetch, 1 forest, 2 taiga, 1 sheltered thicket), but I'm considering finding a place for a 3rd taiga due to too many openers with only colorless mana producers.
It was a bit disappointing to start 5-2 and lose both win & ins for Day 2, but what can you do when you get paired against Painter in Round 9?
I liked the idea of some number of Pithing Needles in the sideboard (like Jody Keith was running). Drop of Honey is cute but I wouldn't feel pressured to buy one right now.

I'd probably wait until the spike wears off in any case. The price on this card is so inelastic that probably a couple of folks buying it after seeing it in action in that top 8 Lands list caused it to rise. Had Jody used it on camera (or maybe he did and I didn't see it, I was caring for a baby that day), the spike might stick.

The spike is also caused by Old School. I'm not sure about DoH, and would like to know if the card is indeed as good as people think. Sure would like to read a tournament-report.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Is it possible to sideboard a Savannah and a Porphery Nodes to get the same effect? It might be stretching the mana base too thin...

It would be terribly clunky in :w:; Savannah or not.
Re: [DTB] R/G Combo Lands
Personally, I am looking more at Earth as a card. That's the one that has my eye.
