You're right. I overlooked a few things and the life loss of Remorse loses me the game on the play.
I knew that life loss would end up being relevant somewhere... I only saw that after I sent myself the deck.

I had seriously considered playing Words of Worship and Slyvan Library. But I was worried that there was a real Kavu Predator deck I wouldn't beat, or some other sort of combo. So I just picked an even worse deck instead, haha.
No matter how grindy I think the meta will be, it’s always 5 times worse.
8. Reeplcheep: Murderous Rider , Volrath’s Stronghold, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth , Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
Stronghold was to beat non-exile discard or counter spells without land interaction. Alas...
Too much pauper bannathon (and talk of banning trophy) had me convinced sinkhole was banned last time.
DECKS FOR ROUND 9 OF SEASON 9: Deviant Legacy - Part 2
The entries:
1. Asthereal (TO): Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Maze of Ith, Fountain of Renewal, Agonizing Remorse
It’s kinda weird that lifelink damage prevention is not considered lifegain prevention. I lose regardless to exile based discard. LL 0-6
2. Wrath of Pie: Sheltered Valley, Orzhov Basilica, Soldevi Digger, Vindicate
LD :( LL 0-6
3. alphastryk: Khalni Garden, Selesnya Sanctuary, Kavu Predator, Armadillo Cloak
You can’t beat infinite removal or tabernacle. WW 6-0
4. Tylert: Sheltered valley, Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth, Sinkhole, Dismember
LD :( LL0-6
5. GoblinSmashmaster: Remote Farm, Shuko, Daru Spiritualist, Diamond Valley
Shuko isn’t vulnerable to removal or tabernacle so you can go off in 1 turn. LD 1-4
6. dte: Pox, Swamp, Dark Ritual, Firemane angel
I can’t beat double discard or LD. LL 0-6
7. jhhdk: Peat Bog, Call the bloodline, Innocent blood, kozilek, Butcher of Truth
You have to chose between cycling removal (which I redraw faster than you because of no filler card) or 2 threats (which I beat with the bigger body and every once in a while you will need to rebuild).
WW 6-0
9. H: Subterranean Hangar, Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord, Licia, Sanguine Tribune, Chancellor of the Dross
I can always attack until you cast something, let rider die and then immediately redraw it to kill the thing. WW 6-0
10. maxx!: Peat Bog, Sheltered Valley, Smallpox, Firemane Angel
Valley forces me to act, and then I lose to smallpox. LL 0-6
11. silkster: Plains, Starlit Sanctum, Nomads en-Kor, Daru Spiritualist
You can’t make infinite toughness AND sac it though tabernacle. WW 6-0
12. FTW: Sheltered Valley, Pithing Needle, Force of Negation, Disrupting Shoal
Built to beat this, but you ran needle :(. LL 0-6
13. Serguei: The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, Sheltered Valley, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Murderous Rider
Lose the mirror. LL 0-6
25 points oof. Probably more than the deck deserved though.
Did anyone consider Punishing Fire for this round? Seems like Sheltered Valley, Mountain, Punishing Fire, and some good 4th card (Petrified Field?) could have been a good deck. Resilient to discard and stops the creature-based life combos. Doesn't race Scepter-Helix or triple Firemane, though.
I considered it because it was going to trigger quite often, but I figured that land hate was going to be prevalent enough that it was a bad idea. (Does Punishing Fire even beat life combo?)
Funniest win condition in the format is Karn Liberated, for obvious reasons.
Part of the reason I played Clerics was because it beat triple Firemane, which was looking surprisingly good in my meta for beating all of the grindy decks and for being resistant to pretty much every piece of hate. I think the only hate it would have faced this round was FTW's Pithing Needle when Firemane.dec is on the draw.
Punishing Fire only slows down Clerics by a turn by forcing it to play the Spiritualist first. I considered Karn very briefly, but couldn't think of a fast way to play him than Tron. I didn't foresee the land hate that this round would have, but I did think discard of various types would show up. I actually thought creature hate would be minimal because I thought creatures in general would be quite minimal. Boy, did I read that wrong.
Daru Spiritualist survives infinite Shocks and Heliod, Sun-Crowned can't be burned. I didn't expect stuff like Punishing Fire to beat creature-based combos so didn't give it much thought. Even Murderous Rider ignores it.
Scepter-Helix seemed like a better version of that (Lightning Bolt does kill Daru). Even if Scepter is weaker to Duress and Spheres OTD, overall I think it stops more and races more. But it's weak to land hate. I missed that so many people would play to kill Sheltered Valley.
3xFiremane was a nice find. I completely missed that, and would have just lucked out by having flexible answers.
My deck came from the the thought that most lifegain is bad and viable strategies faster than Sheltered Valley would rely heavily on activated abilities and/or noncreature spells. So playing to beat those would stop the DTBs I expected plus other random stuff I hadn't thought of. You probably expected (and played around) Duress for the same reason.
I knew I'd lose hard to random stuff like Karakas, Serra Ascendant, Serra Ascendant, Serra Ascendant but like you I gambled fair creatures would be unpopular. alphastryk would have done really well in a meta like that, with Kavu Predator trolling Ascendant really hard. He also beats 3xFiremane.
I’m a moron and did not realize that Punishing Fire can’t ever kill Daru Spiritualist. Glad I didn’t submit that.
I actually felt like creatures were going to be a total non-factor this round. I assumed that some people would submit life combo, but aside from that I did not expect any bodies. Kavu Predator was totally off my radar, and Call the Bloodline is a card I didn’t even know existed.
I would probably just scoop to life combo and go double storage land. (There is the option of going for Sea's Claim in the fourth slot with good old Island which may very well be better, because outside of life combo most of the good options aren't particularly fast at getting to 100 life, which lessens the need for fast Karn.)
I did not really think about what to play this late definition of the round and format.
So a very classic entry

WL 3 pts
total 39 pts a lot I think for a very expected deck
For some silly reason, I had Swamp, Sheltered Valley, Call the Bloodline, Squee, Goblin Nabob as one of my decks (cause, ya know, an endless stream of 1/1 lifelinkers is good and Squee is card advantage with discard outlets, of course), which is hilarious because I usually try to force Smallpox/Eldrazi every round, but I somehow forgot to this time.
For the next round, I was super confused for a while and had no idea what decks made sense. Then I thought of one and suddenly I have 5 or 6 very different setups. It's funny to think that I'm probably sitting winning cards that just haven't been put together correctly yet (as are most of us, really).
Storage land, Karn, Island, Sea's claim makes so much sense, and I'm amused at how wildly far away I was from thinking of it. I did not read the Land-Destruction-matters theme this round.
I have the most hilarious submission ready for the next round. (Probably won't be good, but the comedy value will be worth it.)
Scores for round 9:
1. maxx!: 60 - 5

We're back to the normal schedule.
ROUND 10 OF SEASON 9: DEVIANT LEGACY - PART 2 has started.
This round we play Turtle Up: Until the start of the 6th turn, spells can't be countered, permanents have hexproof and indistructible, cards in graveyards have hexproof and players have hexproof. Damage does not cause loss of life, and players can't win or lose the game. Players may choose to ignore effects controlled by an opponent that would cause a permanent they control or card in their hand to change zones. Turns are counted as follows: player one, who is on the play, plays the first turn, then player two plays the second turn, then player one plays the third turn, player two the fourth, and player one the fifth. Then the limitations are lifted with the start of turn six, which will be played by player two (who was on the draw that game).
I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 10, so you can start sending me your decks.
DEADLINE: Wednesday the 24th of March at 11:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time zone. Pacific Time it'll probably be something like Tuesday night a bit past midnight, so keep that in mind.)
PLEASE NOTE:
The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Swamp, Swamp, Dauthi Slayer, Black Knight.
So with card tags around each card, and not above eachother, and with your Username and 4CB S09R10 in the topic.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the banned list. You'll find it in the second post of the thread, or in our Google Spreadsheet.
After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.
Also, if you've been lurking on this thread and looking to join, you can step in anytime, any round. That's no problem at all. Just send me your deck before the deadline, and I'll add you to the competition.
Happy deck designing everybody!
Your copy and paste method failed you, we don't have an extra day.
Am I correct in understand that you are essentially using the five turn procedure for matches going to time as your basis for the turns?
I think Asthereal stated earlier that the turns are counted the same way that 5 turns are counted when a match goes to time. So if you can resolve a Time Warp, you can change who will get the first non-Turtle turn. I can't actually figure out how to make any use of this whatsoever, but I will gladly take a loss to see the beauty of such a thing.
