Basically the same. I bombed out with it at the last big event here and put it down to play Aggro Loam for a while. Might bring it back soon, but I'm not really planning any major changes. This actually made me think back to Tim "the Enchanter" Frank's Deadguy lists from a couple years ago. I recall one he had one or two E.Tutors main and I always thought that was pretty cool. I think if anything, I might move Batterskull to the board, then drop a Sculler and possibly a SFM for one E.Tutor, a Canonist, and....something. Maybe Spellskite?
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Gonna try out poor mans Black and Taxes this week. No ports for me unfortunately :/
4 Mom
4 Bob
4 Stoneforge
3 Thalia
3 Revoker
3 Tidehollow
2 Spirit of the Labyrinth
2 Serra Avenger
4 STP
3 Thoughtseize
4 Vial
3 Equipments
22 Lands
3-4 Plains, 1 Swamp, 1 Karakas, 4 Scrub, fetches
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Played the list with a few changes above to a 1-2 finish last night, though it shouldve been at least 2-1 plus a top 8 appearance. In my game three vs Bant, I accidentally drew a card off of SoFaI with a Spirit of the Labyrinth out while I had 2x Bob, 1x Thalia, a Spirit, and a Revoker plus SoFaI to him being Hellbent with a Rhox War Monk. So yeah. Moral victories. Adding Confidant to Death and Taxes is actually really sweet, because it allows your Vials to still be good late, and of course unchecked Bob just wins the game. Still don't know if this should be here or in the DnT thread, but I'm not active in there so I decided to post here about it. Deck is really powerful, and I now see why DnT is so good.

Yeah there are definitely a shitload of triggers to remember in this build. I mentioned it over in D&T, but it just got brushed off because "BW = Deadguy", even though it's clearly more of a D&T deck. I get it though. D&T is performing very well right now, and while I prefer my build, I don't really have sufficient evidence to start telling people they need to change up a DTB. This group is more receptive because there hasn't been one successful Deadguy build in the last several years.
Edit: Ports can sometimes make a huge difference though. I'd suggest borrowing some or proxying them up to test and see. Basically any matchup where Thalia is good.

I actually borrowed Ports from Tyrio. Agreed, they were insane. Were definitely the difference in whether or not my Merfolk opponent ever got to 3 mana to cast the TNN rotting in his hand or not after I revokered Vial.
Also Agreed. I don't know if this is better than DnT or not since I have never played DnT, but it certainly felt extremely powerful. Now I just have to buy my own Ports... Stupid price spikes.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Tried out a misers Spirit of the Labyrinth. It was alright. I did get to stop a sylvan library which was pretty sweet.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Now's the time to buy them on SCG (not that they aren't super expensive anyway).
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
So like... What's a good card to board for burn?

Hahaaah so glad I didn't go this week. So much hunter. So many price.
In a deck with Stoneforge / Deathrite I like Mark of Asylum / Absolute Law. If you can just protect and equip you should be OK. Vortex is then Wal-Mart burns primary out. It also means RUG can't remove your creatures unless they bring Submerge in against a deck with like 1 forest.

Yeah I got hunted... The real issue is that in game 3 he drew all 4 of his Smash to Smithereens. I kinda am leaning on Warmth, but with it only being a 1-of (albeit being a tutor target) if I don't draw it, I can still just die if I don't draw it or my single ETutor early enough. Thalia actually was really helpful, I just found her to be meh against all non storm combo.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
This list managed to top 6 a ~75 players open here.
Creatures [13]
2 Mother of Runes
3 Stoneforge Mystic
4 Dark Confidant
4 Deathrite Shaman
Instants [4]
4 Swords to Plowshares
Sorceries [11]
2 Lingering Souls
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
3 Thoughtseize
3 Vindicate
Enchantments [1]
1 Oblivion Ring
Planeswalkers [4]
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
3 Liliana of the Veil
Artifacts [5]
1 Batterskull
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Umezawa's Jitte
2 Sensei's Divining Top
Lands [22]
1 Temple Garden
1 Verdant Catacombs
2 Plains
2 Wasteland
4 Arid Mesa
4 Marsh Flats
4 Scrubland
4 Swamp
Sideboard
2 Enlightened Tutor
2 Extirpate
1 Humility
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Ethersworn Canonist
2 Engineered Explosives
1 Manriki-Gusari
1 Zealous Persecution
1 Rest in Peace
1 Serenity
1 Thorn of Amethyst
1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
It never occurred to me to play Mom in this deck, same with going below 3 Souls since I've always considered one of the things that make this deck work. 4 Arid Mesa seems weird, I can't see why you wouldn't play more verdants than mesa if you're already at 4 flats. I'm not a fan of playing only 2 wastelands but it's likely that I just love the card too much.
What do you guys think? I'll try to test it out and see what I like about it, but Mom seems like it could be good.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I like Mom, but I'd rather have a better dude. As for the weird lands, it may have something to do with accessibility. I assume he would rather have had a Savannah over the temple garden as well.

3 Vindicate and an O-Ring? That seems like a little much for me. I'd be in favor of cutting 1 Vindicate for something like Zealous Persecution or Council's Judgment, just to provide a bit more diversity.
He's pretty dense on 3 drops so I don't particularly mind the drop to 2 Wasteland, the Vindicates can sort of make up for that if the opportunity arises and the inclusion of Mothers means that even if your opponent has the mana they won't be able to cast their removal on your Stoneforges and Confidants. Wasteland is good at capitalizing on your opponent's removal. If you can force them to choose between a threat and a removal spell, you're often able to gain value either way. Mother presents a similar situation, allowing you to act with the knowledge that your opponent can only interact with the board in one manner (in this case blanking their removal).

If burn with guides and eidolons then kor firewalkers is the way to go but warmth if using a ETutor. But would love to play that worship XD
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I found that my dudes basically all die because of the searing blood plus searing blaze. So worship would basically be useless. Our number of dudes unfortunately can't support worship. Because if a dude sticks, I usually win.
Been thinking of cutting revokers for spirits of the Labyrinth. Putting me to 3 main board. Good or bad?

Been liking the labyrinths alot specially with the discard and liliana. Will put them into a spot thats hard to draw out of. We arent running thalia so some hatesbears are welcome. Waiting for that monocolored meddling mage still :P
Like having needle / revokers in the 75.

I vote for "Bad". This guy is more "narrow" than Thalia and Revoker. "Bob and Taxes" has significantly fewer flying creatures than DnT, so creatures with flying would be first choice to fill the slot.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Just played a 14 man tournament. Had to play burn twice, ugh. Did beat it both times but it's not a good matchup. Went 3-1 in swiss and lost in top 4.
Luckily, they didn't draw searing blood at all. Killed Eidolon of the Great Revel with a Shriekmaw. LOL, no 2 damage for me. Hymn to Tourach and Liliana were insanely good. Hymn is obviously a 2 for 1. Even when I would edict a creature and then have her get bolted, it's still a 2 for 1. And a pseudo Healing Salve since that's one less bolt to me.
Tested out a singleton Council's Judgment. Only saw it twice, granted I only played 5 rounds of magic. First time I saw it I didn't need to cast it since I was winning. 2nd time was to kill a Tarmogoyf. Kinda of meh to me so far. Getting double white can be hard at times as well. But I'll leave it in for now.
Haven't tried out Spirit of the Labyrinth yet so not sure if it's better main than Revoker.
