Keep in mind too that this was the first full production of foils disbursed in boosters. There were a higher frequency of foil-cut lines and other printing errors.

Wow, didn't know about that. Thank you very much, that helped.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Well.. after a long time in the mail, those finally came back to me :)
Though I am extremely grateful that he did sign them, this wasn't the nicest experience I had with an artist. Getting them back with four different signatures and in a (at least I think so) slightly worse condition doesn't help, too.
But oh well, I got them back, so that counts ;D

Yes, mine have dots.

Matt, if I make it to Denver I'll bring a deck. Are we using http://oldschool-mtg.blogspot.com/p/banrestriction.html rules? Reprints (except for unlimited) are not allowed.

Important question re 93/94.
If I am at one life, can I use a city of brass, go to zero, then mirror universe for the win?

Of course you can. Also, REB from alpha is unplayable. Interrupts are strictly enforced.
The time wasted in 1997 learning the Interrupt Bubbles will finally pay off.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
So I have been testing 93-94 magic on Cockatrice and its a blast. I would probably drop Type1 for it if there was a stronger player base here in the US with tournaments and such, but for now it wont happen.
I have a small pile of stuff for it, but unfortunately all of my duallands are revised as I didn't care to spend the extra amount at the time I was picking them up. But here is some of the other stuff I have..
http://i675.photobucket.com/albums/v...-05-28_139.jpg
Why is it that revised is not one of the sets allowed? I mean, it was printed in early 1994 wasn't it?

It was, and it was also printed before Legends and The Dark.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
I think looser enforcement is fine if your player group can't afford the other versions. I'd rather have fun than have zero players.

Ditto! Here in Halifax, there is a group of 10-12 people who have interest, but only have Revised duals. We've added Revised as a whole, just to ease the cost of entry.

Here in Toronto we will allow any reprint in order to have enough players. If you can organize a tournament in Hallifax I will definitely come to play it. 93/94 format is way more fun than Type 1.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
I think that our homepage might explain it but basicly there is no "real" reason why Revised shouldn't be allowed. The creators have choosen not to allow it simply because of the "pimp"-factor. They wanted more of an old-school format and I personaly hate the look of rev-duals but I can definatly understand why people choose to play with them.
Also, here is my decklist from our recent event, I made it to the finals but we didn't have time to play the finals (but it will be at a later event, I'm trying to get people to film it). We were around 25 players or so.
4 Tundra
4 Volcanic Island
2 Underground Sea
4 Mishra's Factory
1 Library of Alexandria
1 Strip Mine
3 City of Brass
1 Maze of Ith
4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Disenchant
1 Divine Offering
4 Mana Drain
4 Counterspell
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Braingeyser
1 Mind Twist
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Lightning Bolt
2 Fireball
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Sol Ring
4 Fellwar Stone
2 Disruptive Scepter
3 Jaymaede Tome
SB:
1 Disenchant
1 Divine Offering
2 Greater Realm of Preservation
4 Red Elemental Blast
4 Blue Elemental Blast
1 Control Magic
1 Balance
1 Giant Shark (This is a requirement since I won a signed one in a tournament before, every time you win a signed Shark you have to play it.)

So i have been playtesting many 93/94 decks recently, this format is wicked especially thanks to the simplicity and normal pace of games:
The aggresive red/white posted on 93/94 oldchool last tournament:
http://fd.fabiensanglard.net/mtg/red...k/DSC_0006.JPG
The "prehistoric school" Brian Weissman's The Deck from mtgsalvation:

(Notice the 3 strip mines allowed at the time).

And the more recent "The deck" from 93/94 oldschool from the deck to beat section:

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Wow... in all my time here, I think I can say those are the most beautiful decks I have ever seen!!!
Having played back in '93-'94, it is great to see such beautiful "old school" decks - well done  There's just nothing that compairs to original pimp. Thanks for sharing.
Take it easy,
Jared

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Wow the 93/94 decks are great and aside from the 10-12 white border cards they really do look stunning.
Cheers and congrats on putting them together.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
It's almost a year since I finished my completely signed Beta set. I continued collecting signed beta cards (naturally) and this is now my current state...Somewhere around 900 signed Beta cards
I present it a bit differently than the previous sets to make it more interesting...Each signed card has it's own space...
I hope you like it (it took quite some time to scan this whole thing and to write this post) :-D

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Picked up some cute none foil japanese cabal therapies yesterday.
The player was a foreign exchange student from japan. His trade was full of beta duals, 2x english seals, + other high end stuff. I asked if any was for sale or trade. He said no, but I asked if I could see. He told me they might be fake.
Back story, I had a buddy run into the same guy a few weeks back. Ended up getting a moat, seal, sea and some other stuff from him. Upon further inspection, we found out they were fake, luckily he got all his stuff back * I might have told this story*
The Japanese player bought a collection for a decent chunk of cash * he didn't specify total price* in japan.
So, continuing with the story, we continued talking. I pulled out my beta stuff, and the unlimited/beta power I had with me * the stuff I'm selling for a buddy* and we started comparing. You could easily tell the difference once you see a real card. * I knew right away, they were all dark prints and semi low res stuff* Everything * 30+ beta duals, power, moats, seals, etc* ended up being fake.
Funny thing was I compared my beta scrubland to his, he held both in hand and said he could tell the difference, then places both down on the table, the fake more towards me implying that's my scrubland, and the other towards him. I obviously noticed and switched them around. I imagine on accident, but still sketchy.
On a serious note, I might be picking up a beta ex volcanic island soon. :)

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Picked up a playset of russian Ponders, a russian Angel of Despair, and a russian Seachrome Coast from a guy that wanted some of my commanders arsenal. Now to find a home for all of the cards :/ Thought about picking up a german foil Seismic assault but didnt want it at the time... now I want it!

So, are we allowing revised/foreign for 93/94 in Denver? If so, my deck will be much better, lol.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Hi All,
I never have any cards worthy of this thread but since people post playmats, sleeves, and similar, I figured that some of you could appreciate these.
I included both the image used to advertise them as well as a poorly lit picture taken from my iPhone. Neither of which do them justice in person.
I work for an online retailer and I'm afraid I can't provide a link since we have stopped selling them and I couldn't find them elsewhere online after a half-assed search.
"An outrageously luxurious pair of shimmering, Swarovski-studded, silver-plated dice, paired with a piano finish wood box. Each sparkles with tiny crystals cut by the legendary Swarovski company. Includes 2 pieces of 17mm metal cubes, 23K gold plating with sapphire Swarovski crystals, in a glossy wooden box."
They're a good size and heavy. Nice box too.

Sorry to intrude, but if you have the card in a more recent edition I would suggest to use a high quality proxy done with a color printer in order to not ruin the "nostalgia" factor. This is the direction we are heading to in Toronto.

Proxies seem more anti nostalgia than revised dual lands. Most of us who were playing back then had revised duals, and it is probably more nostalgic to play with those than with the beta dual lands that I own.
-
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Proxies are the polar opposite of pimp.
