Just another success story with my UG ebola deck.
Took 1st place after 6 rounds.
R1 was MUD. G1 he keeps a riski hand as he said, if i had the force, but i didnt and he went turn one lodestone, turn two lodestone.. taxing and clocking. yadr.. I have som inkmoths and elves i try to race with, but died to exact damage even after putting 3 -1/-1 counters on the big robots. G2 we have a very tight game with me playing around chalice and trinisphere and lodestone. eventually i get there. G3 i have clock on the board and he goes all in with forgemaster which i let trigger and he finds Blightsteel to kill me with infect (GOD, i hate infect..). I've been sandbagging the STP, nuked the robot and went on with lethal next turn through Bimmense and berserk.
1-0
R2 RUG. I slowly beat him to death as he misplays a bolt into an invigorate on attack. Game 2 he super waste me, but only ever saw 1 nimble which had to block my elf. I get there in the end.
2-0
R3 miracles. Normally i love this matchup, but this guy draws so well all the time and i've never represented a threat against him the times we played... Well has triple plowshares and snap, and i only have some dudes and not enough protection. G2 He wear+tears my null rod and sylvan library (auch!) and i never get back into the game.
2-1
R4 Merfolk. I have a fast agent and an inkmoth. He is relatively high on poison after an agent attack with double exalted trigger. I have bimmense in hand as he draws jitte and plays it. He attacks, gains counters, shoots the agent (as i had hoped) and says go. Before exalted triggers he tries to shoot my inkmoth with the last jitte counter, but bimmense with force back up halts his plan. My dude grows to 8/8 and puts him on 11 PSN. G2 He mulligans to four and the game is over. I just played my cards and threatened him quickly.
R5 Omni. I have a turn 1 elf and attacks for one. He goes cantripping. I attack him to 1 PSN in second turn. Next turn i use two invigorates for lethal, he flusterstorms, i pay for all of them with force back up. In retrospect this was a mistake, i should have used 1 invigorate both attack phases, so the storm count wasnt so high. On the other hand if i had kept and he cliqued me the hand was less prone to run out of juice as i could draw either beserk or invigorate for the kill then, rather than having no pumps after clique. G2 he plays xantid swarm which is ever so annoying. I have Elf again and starts to threaten him with exalted trigger. At some point he has to block with it to not die. I waste his tropical, and stifle his fetch next turn to keep him off show and tell. Next turn he tries with a new land from the top, but i kept daze in hand. I berserk my elf and win.
R6 Painter. the worst matchup in the world. He fights me on all fronts; moon effects, the combo, freaking 4x sudden shock :O :O, and much more. G1 i only ever play force, force, pierce, daze. Never saw a second land, and succumbed to the second blood moon after piercing the first. He beats me with small dudes... G2 I keep a hand with elf, berserk, invigorate, trop, krosan, and stuff i couldn't use. Knowing he does not run bolts and only few interaction 1-drops (he could ramp tho...) i decided to keep. I faked some hesitation when playing the elf, instead of quickly slamming it and make him predict i had the combo kill. It worked it seems, cause he did not play his welder to block, and i turn 2 kill him. yay. G3 we both mulligan to 5 and opponent offers me a gentlemen draw (which is actually legal in tournys.. didnt know that): we draw the third game, and restarts a 4th with new opening 7. He laughs abit too much for my liking as turn 1 moon wins the game for him. However he goes top, go. I have an elf i think which he cannot answer, and dies to combo turn 3 or 4. pwew.
Great games, great deck.
Was considering running sylvan main, but didnt know what to move to the board.
MVP was bimmense, stifle and STP.
Thanks!
