GSZ reprinted at rare, not bad.
We're (most likely) not going to see Merfolks in EMA. According to this article, the only tribal strategy that survived the development scrutiny was Elves. Also, GW is going to feature an enchantment theme. Reprint of Argothian Enchantress (not mythic...) would be sweet. UB is a reanimator theme, so I expect Reanimate to get a reprint as well :). So far the fatties are not really that present though, and the usual suspects are all mythics which is pretty much excluded now, so I'm curious what kind of targets we will be seeing.
Come on! Give some love to the Goblin-Tribe! Where is the love, I ask ya!?Quote:
Finding these strategies that have a significant amount of overlap was difficult, but also one of the most rewarding parts of working on Eternal Masters. One of these challenges had to do with finding the right amount of tribal for the set. Tribal strategies are really cool, and one of the best ways to link "Eternal" cards and "Modern" cards. However, it can be difficult to link up tribal strategies with each other. The first Modern Masters did this with changeling cards, but we did not want to repeat this. The design handoff had lots of tribal strategies, but in the end, only Elves survived. The competitive success of Elves in Eternal formats helped inform our decision to keep them, as well.
You asked, so here you go:

Should I get some "I bought a $10 pack and all I got was this stupid Goblin Trenches" shirts now?
I have found memories playing Trenches in Type 2. Man, that was really sweet. Art isn't quite as sweet as the Wayne England art but it's pretty solid...
Fucking god damn it is that Jace on my fucking Counterspell again?! It's kinda amusing but the card would probably look pretty cool if you just subtracted Jace from it. I bet WotC added it after the fact. Kek.
At least Hydroblast and Pyroblast look incredible. The art even looks like something from Ice Age or Coldsnap.
This set has a ton of value at the uncommon slot, just like MM1. Made opening packs of that pretty fun. Looking amazing. I think the only things I'd say really needed to be reprinted are Imperial Recruiter and Rishadan Port.
I still do not feel like Port will be in this. That's what my gut says. (Happy to be wrong, hope I am wrong.)
I think Port, Berserk, SfM, Jitte are the last real $ cards we're gonna see. Port's price online actually warps the meta, that's reason enough to expect it.
Seems crazy they left out Recruiter, but it's hard to imagine them printing a $200-$300 card at rare and giving us Worldgorger at mythic.
There is only one green mythic left, so no place for Jitte, since it would have to be Mythic for Limited purposes. And without any equipment support, SFM doesn't make sense, either.
Edit: Sinkhole is back.

Oh I thought there was a colorless spot left. Regardless, they can print limited playable uncommon/rare equipment. I believe SfM was one of the cards mentioned by the guy who originally spoiled EMA.
Sinkhole. Who wants a card they will never play?
What wants to bet that last land is Yavimaya Hollow?
Sinkhole now available.
I could see an uptick in Pox decks from entry level players, as Sinkhole is an minorly expensive part of that deck that had no other applications in Legacy.
A lot of these cards see common play in Cube/EDH. And you know how much that crowd loooooves alt artwork/black borders/foils. I suspect the Cube/EDH crowd will be the true driver of sales.
I can understand either GSZ or Natural Order, but what does adding them both add to the limited experience?
Sinkhole looks good, I have an alpha playset, if I didn't I'd probably go for a foil playset of these. The art is really good in this set, so far.
They want actual Elves, or very close approximation, to be a thing in Limited, just like they're pushing actual Shardless BUG very hard too.
