Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
here is my updated list
4 imperial recruiters
4 painters servent
3 ssg
2 magus of the moon
2 goblin welder
1 jaya ballard
1 peacekeeper
3 e tutor
2 lotus petal
1 ensnaring bridge
4 grindstone
6 blast effect
2 SDT
1 koth
1 ee
8 sol lands
5 fetches
2 plateau
3 mountains
1 great furnance
side
4 rip
1 helm
1 stoneforge
1 jitte
1 SoLS
2 ensnaring bridge
4 firebolt
1 viashin heretic
I played deredge, merfolk, dredge, the mirror, lands(kurt speis), patriot, and Rug delver. Won those first five, drew with ben freidmen and his patriot list and lost to rug delver, making top 8 of a 114 person event. Lost inthe top 8 to BUG, I probably played the second game wrong but the first I just lost to a resolved delver as i could not find any answer of grind stone for the win. overall the list was tight all day. the great furnance needs to go. I always hated playing it and i think mana stability with all the wastelands is worth it. I will risk the duals as without it, I would have lost to dredge. the ability to fetch and fire off an e tutor in response to discard was amazing all day long. Overall the deck is tilted towards the combo.
The sideboarding is more fluid. It depends on what happened game one, the match up and time left in the round. In general against delver and deathrite and death and taxes, firebolt is the best card you can draw. it is card advantage and a great source of removal. I would generally run something close to this in an open or evolved meta or a big event. It is the fastest version to strengthen the most important aspect of the deck, the combo. I could even be convinced that e tutor should be four of in the deck, and i have thought about it many times. EE is basically the best catch all you can have. ratchet bomb can get bigger things but the fact that EE is active out of the gate is pretty important. I think one of these type of spells is importnat for an open event. the stone forage package has done what i wanted, but it wasnt needed for much. RIP is the BEST grave hate in the game.
Overall I would say you have to shuffle up so many hands to get a sense with what is keepable and what isnt. without cantrips it is hard to control the variance of the deck, but with repeated play throughs you will see the various permutations. Storm is a bad idea right now, so we are one of the fastest combo decks in the meta, which is a great place to be. We don't care about True Name as he is just like any other dude. My advice is to hold off on first turn moon game one, especially if you are playing the white splash. Land it turn two as you keep the E tutor open and sometimes you need the speed of the sol lands. I still think that a great strategy is to force your opponenet into a corner and make them counter your cards. I lost against rug as he had 4 daze and 2 fow with 2 lightning bolt in one game. and the second saw three fow and me short on land. I will take those losses as most of the time they will have some dudes you dont care about and you are eating through their cards. I love playing against fow as you will win that war of attrition. throw goblin welder out there first. they have to kill him and they will waste importnat spells on a card that is super strong, yet less important than almost everything else.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Glad to see this list Seth. I was looking at Jack's and really want to push a 3rd Enlightened Tutor, but didn't know if there was a specific reason not to run three. He obviously had very good success with 2. But if I splash white, I really want to push the strong white cards both MB and SB.
I sleeved up the Rw yesterday during the snow storm and is very similiar to your list. I referenced Jack's top 8 from SCB Baltimore when building mine. Went with 1 less gobling, 1 more ET, 1 less top, and a few other very minor adaptations like a MB peacekeeper from talking to you last weekend.
I do like the EE though, hadn't thought of that.
I really want to run 1 plains in the list. I know you guys said it's not nessassary, but I HATE being color screwed, or wastelanded outta a precious white source. If my hand is fetch+mountain, I see no reason not to fetch a plains in many instances (when threat of WL, or wanting to play a moon)
I'll refine and post for thoughts.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Somewhat big event coming up tommorow for me. I'll post a tourney report shortly after. Quick question for you gentlemen though. Thorn of Amethyst; brought in against Miracles? I'm leaning towards bringing them in, but if I could get some more insight on this that would be great.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
At GP Paris today, I picked up my 3rd loss in round8, so I did not make it to day2. My losses were vs. Elves, d&t and pox. My wins were vs. Merfolk, mono-b reanimator, BUG delver, and d&t. I have some notes I'll share with you when I'm back home.

Yes you are right there should be four blood moon also.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Again I really like the list Seth, did you ever come across a need for basic plains? T1, T2 moon makes casting anything W from a Petal. On the other side if you land a T1 moon your doing well and might not even care. I have always been fond of Viashino Heretic, did he perform better than Manic Vandal? I agree RIP is ridiculous and I like the 4 of in the side. What mu's did SFM perform well in?
EDIT: seen you already answered my basic plains question xD

I will be testing 1 plains. My reasoning: matchups such as DnT. I still want to be able to slam an early moon, and be able to consistently pay Peacekeepers upkeep. I can imagine other scenarios where slamming blood moon is really good but not back breaking and still wanting E Tutor. Or after sideboard access to white for many other cards.
I may find I'm completely wrong... But have to try for myself at least. I'm just stubborn like that.
Here's what I'll be trying; and will discuss results after a local today:
Deck: legacy - Rw Imperial Painter.dec

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
2 Seperate painter decks on stream at both feature matches.
Stawbery shortcake and another R/W variant that seem to be running no imperials recruiters
Edit to not double post

That there had to go 3 years before a iPainter deck should go into another top 8, sad....
The fact that there IS a iPainter deck in the top 8.... AWESOME!!! :D

Just please don't make the name "Strawberry Shortcake" stick. FFS

One Strengh on this deck was the mana base with a lot of basic,
now isn't too hard against tempo and stifle/waste ?

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Hello!
Had a great time on my first GP last weekend in Paris! I played jandax's monored list with ratchet bomb replacing Martyr on the sideboard..
7 Mountain
1 Great Furnace
4 Fetches
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
3 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Grindstone
4 Painter's Servant
1 Lotus Petal
4 Blood Moon
4 Pyroblast
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Magus of the Moon
4 Imperial Recruiter
4 Simian Spirit Guide
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
2 Goblin Welder
1 Koth of the Hammer
3 Ensnaring Bridge
Sideboard:
4 Grafdigger's Cage
3 Thorn of Amethyst
2 Sudden Demise
2 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Koth of the Hammer
1 Ensnaring Bridge
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Manic Vandal
In Friday's trials i went 3-1 beating merfolk, mud, sneak 'n' show and losing to omnitell and 2-1 beating UWmiracles and sneak 'n' show (again) and then lost to another monored painter so no byes for me.
Friday's top moments:
-In the match against miracles i comboed out early on game one. In game two i countered Counterbalance and stuck two grindstones and one ensnaring bridge to the table. The match took long, but two grindstones milled his library little by little. I think i blasted one Jace and other one was the last card in his library.
-Painter mirror was horrible. Game one i played bad and he comboed out. Game two there was a board with 4 painters (all naming white), 2 welders, 4 revokers (naming stone, top, welder, koth). The game ended when my opponent activated the stone on his turn, in response i activated my own stone and he activated his second grindstone.
The main event:
First round vs Affinity 2-0 total 1-0
Game one i was struck to 4 life while opponent being in 22, mostly due to Vault skirge. Finally i found E.Bridge, emptied my hand and welded his ornithopters to graveyard bringing Master of Etheriums to play so that even a single thopter could not attack. Then i waited for combopieces.
Game two i blood mooned and notes say i beat him down to zero. I remember him having 5 ancient den's in table and i blasted his mox opal.
Second round vs RUG 0-2 total 1-1
I wasnt able to stick moon to table and mongooses & tarmos did their job.
Third round vs Elves 2-1 total 2-1
I lost game 1. I had a chance to choose on turn 4 should i play moon or bridge. I chose moon. I chose wrong. Behemoth <3
Games 2 and 3 cage, bridge and sudden demise. Combo finish. Enough said.
Fourth round vs Esper Stoneblade 2-1 total 3-1
Game 1: Blood moon
Game 2: No Blood moon
Game 3: Blood Moon
Fifth round vs Dredge 0-2 total 3-2
Game one i was one mana short from comboing, while he Flayered me out.
Game two i tried to mull to Grafdigger's cage. Mulliganed to 4 cards: mountain, fetch, fetch, top. No cages were seen.
Okay if i beat the rest, i'm still in for day2
Sixth round vs BUG 2-0, total 4-2
Game one i played magus of the moon with blast backup.
Game two welder did things.
Seventh round vs Junk? (WBG) 1-1, total 4-2-1
I went to look the pairings and went to sit on my seat. My last round opponent (Michael from England (thanks!) came to inform, that our results were input wrong so that he had 12 points and i was in 9. So we got that fixed and I played against Michael's opponent. He was a local, not very good in english and kind a rude attitude.
Game one he beats me down with Stoneforge mystic with SoFaI.
Game two i sit behind the E.Bridge. I play Painter and he want's to respond to it's trigger. I say there is no trigger... JUDGE! I'm not sure what he wanted to do but after the judge clarified him there is no trigger he destroyed Painter and Surgical Extracted all copies. He also had a revoker on Koth. I grinded him with two stones like a boss.
Game three cost me (and for him) place in day 2: I sat behind the bridge, having stone online but drawing only lands even with a top. I start milling him like in the last round. So time ends and we draw. He ask's me if i concede. He was so rude i didn't even think it for a sec. After the results some guy who was looking our game pointed out that i should had grinded myself. I couldn't believe i was so stupid not to do that. I'm still unexperienced with the deck and hadn't eaten after breakfast so maybe that was the reason. Next time i remember for sure.
Me and my friend decided to play to get PW points, but didn't need to take last rounds too seriously.
8th round vs URW delver 1-2, total 4-3-1
I had so much fun playing. The opponent was from spain and spoke enough english to joke around.
Game 1: Turn 1 lotus petal. Turn 2 Blood moon and blast to FoW. GG
Games 2 and 3: I had great sevens with one Ape on both. That was the only red source in those games and it costed me the game.
Game 3 my 7 was: City, Tomb, Stone, Painter, Moon, Ape, Bridge. Turn one moon was countered and tomb was wasted. On the same game i tapped my only land, City of traitors for 2 mana and played Top. He spell pierced it and i asked if it is okay if i pay just half of the spellpierce's cost. He said it's okay if i only get to look the top card of my library with it :D
What a nice guy.
9th round vs Merfolk 2-0 total 5-3-1
He had no answers to a resolved bridge.
End of day 1, end of the GP for me.
Loved Blood Moons and Ensnaring Bridges, also Welder did amazing things. I think i have to try also the whitesplash but overall this is definitely my favorite legacy deck (excluding crabfeast.dec which mills opponent with Ad nauseam / Hedron Crab / manabond combo and has Dark Depths backup ;) ). Congrats Lejay for top8!

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
How's the Grafdiggers been working for ya?
I mean... it's boarded in against, elves, dredge and the likes?
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
You know, Stils, you can grind yourself if you have a top out and you know you have nothing but lands coming...
And those were some tough breaks on some of the matchups. But hey, Magic: The Gathering, right?
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
phoenix 4: Cage's are awesome. It shuts dredge and elves like a boss. You just have to find one....
jandax: I knew I'm able to mill the crap to grave, but i was too exhausted to come to think about that at the moment. And yes, this is Magic and yes, this is Legacy :D
Should one side out the Welder's when siding in the Cages? It craps the synergies, but it Welder's come handy, when A.Decay hits, especially against elves.
Siding in is easy, but it's always hard to take something out.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Hi all,
Was at GP Paris running monoR list almost the same I ran in Strasbourg last year with SDT replacing chrome mox.
9 Mountain
3 Red fetch
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
4 Simian Spirit Guide
4 Imperial Recruiter
4 Painter's Servant
3 Magus of the Moon
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
4 Red Elemental Blast
4 Pyroblast
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Grindstone
4 Blood Moon
3 SDTop
SIDEBOARD
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Pyroclasm
1 Welder
1 Vandal maniac
4 Ensnaring Bridge
1 Vexing Shusher
Was 7-1, lost agains Elves piloted by Alexandre Darras but game were really really close. Lost last round against Strom game really close too (Cabal on 2 thorn turn1, 3rd game left me no hope)... regrets, might have been undefeated. Won against, BUG, D&T,Strom, Patriot, MonoB.
Dropped day2 at 1-2, lost against Patriot (close) and Jund (no hope).
Happy with the deck, would have liked to have Cage in Sideboard but luck I never played dredge or reanimator.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Hi all,
What tips for a new iPainter player? Are there any good videos? Whilst I will study up on each card are there any common rookie mistakes I should focus on?
I have just put together the white splash list, I had most of the pieces for this deck, having previously played UR Painter, and managed to pick up a playset of Imperial Recruiters at a good prices, so I thought I would give this a go. My past year has been on Death and Taxes with which I have had some success but recently TNN and Jitte has infested my meta and whilst I can pull the win out it is all becoming same-ish. The learning curve is flattening out and I felt a whole new perspective that would get my neurones firing again rather than just going through the motions. What better way than a rare but competitive combo deck to make my local meta panic?
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Kap> What's the sideboard plan vs miracle with Rw List ?
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
I have always focused on the early stages of the game and distruption (I.e., bombs and moons). I tend to jam threats with as much protection as I can. If miracles is allowed to sit back then you usually lose.
Two points to note, koth is really good, so protect him. And most decks are light on 3's for counter balance.

Koth, ratchet bomb, extra blasts definitely come in. If you have stone forge that comes in too since all your creatures become large threats by themselves. Maybe canonist, maybe vandal.
As far as out it depends on what you see game 1 and what your opponent sees from you. If welder goes to town on them and/or you don't see snapcasters or they're running helm then you can hedge rip will come in. If they're running e tutor then vandal can nab a needle or something. I usually always take out magus. On the draw shaving a moon or two and/or the petals isn't the worst since they will fetch basics and your early turns will be spent dealing with counterbalance and whittling them down on cards. I'd always keep at least one bridge in.
The most important thing is just countering their forms of card advantage and holding their removal hostage with grindstone while beating down.
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
In match ups where beatdown is the strongest line of play, has wurmcoil engine been considered? We used it in the UR version because with welder it poops dudes and can be etutored for.
-
Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
There really shouldn't be a match up where beat is the best line of play. Sometimes you go that route by default after you lock out their mana but it is never the best plan in any match up.
Seth

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Now... I don't know how aggressive you guys play the deck (in various versions), but I can tell you one thing:
- Playing the monoR list... You wanna play it gung-ho style.. I can't say if that particular playstyle fits on your local meta, but I peaked last night, going 6 and 0 in a 6 round swiss tournament. :D
Beating decks, I've never won against before, lucksacking a little (As one does) and playing the tightest, I've ever played. I ended up with 45 euros on a giftcard to the local shop and an additional Wasteland.
- Round 1:
Playing a good friend, who's trying to foil out his beloved goblin deck. He's been known to have Esper Delver as, kind of a backup deck, so I didn't know what to expect, but seing that a turn 1 Blood Moon OTP, resulted in him scooping, I knew it to be Esper.
Game 2 was all about him beating me, until I could pull the combo together.
1-0
- Round 2:
Mono U OmniTell. Now I don't know what you think of it, but I've played it 2-3 times and never won, so I had the weird feeling of being 1-1 after this round. And rightly so: 3 turns into game 1, I couldn't answer his S'n'T -> Omniscience -> Enter the Infinite. Now I know, that they usually run around 3-5 sollands and Xx fetches, so I decided to keep the 7 MB moon effects in, board Thorn of Amethyst in and going all in on 8 blast effects..
Games 2 and 3, were the heaviest counterwars, I've been in on, with this deck :O Eventually beating him to zero in the 2 games, going 2-0.... Long time, since that has happened to me.
2-0
- Round 3:
Playing against all of my friends it would seem. Up against MUD, who manages to stick a Chalice @1 and @2 -> InstaScoop for me. Games 2 and 3: Again.. probe turn 1, see nothing so threatening, that I couldn't go: City of Traitors -> Painter's Servant, turn 2: Ancient Tomb - > Grindstone: Activate :D
3-0
- Round 4:
Up against BUG Delver. Not really so much to say. He wins game 1 with a Delver, I can't handle. Game 2: I probe him, seing that the coast is clear for a Blood Moon -> No FoW from him.
Game 3, he goes Polluted Delta, Underground Sea, Ponder... I probe on my turn, seing Maelstrom Pulse, Brainstorm, Ponder, Force of Will and 2x Abrupt Decay.. From here, the game basically went: I play a threat, he HAS to answer... Ultimately he's sitting on 1x Bayou, 2x Underground Sea and 1x Polluted Delta, with only Maelstrom Pulse in hand and NOTHING on the board.. I draw for the turn: Magus of the Moon, and playing it: "Wanna scoop?"... "Y'ah!"
4-0, so far, my best result ever! :D
- Round 5:
Death and Taxes... I've played this MU 3 times before.. 1x against the samme opponent as this round and 2x Thomas Enevoldsen. All 3 previous encounters resulted in losses... I'm not gonna go so much into details, although: game 3, he did throw Karakas, Horizon Canopy, Eiganjo Castle and Rishadan Port out, with only Thalia, Guardian of Thraben on board.... Time to play that bloody moon and get the good old Servant into play, with 3 blasts in hand and ready to conquer this MU so hard..., I ended up, only using one, before slamming the combo down and going online!
5 and 0, on a mission to dreamcrush that tourney! :D
- Round 6:
ANT, while having 4x Thorn of Amethyst in the SB and 2x Phyrexian Revokers in the MB, I would say that this is a fairly good MU. Winning 2-0 on a crazy intuition in game 2: He goes first, playing Scalding Tarn -> Island -> Brainstorm, I instantly reacts by throwing a Pyroblast and a SSG his way. My turn is an Ancient Tomb into Thorn, setting him back a little.. He plays Polluted Delta and taps the Island to play a LED. Nothing exciting goes on, until I, at my fourth turn, sticks another Thorn, putting Magus of the Moon on the table turn 5. From here, it was a simple game of just beating him down with critters, until he scooped, being on 1, seing he couldn't possibly win.
6 and - motherf(¤/%"g - 0!!!
Not only winning the tournament with a perfect winningstreak, but going into prizes for the first time ever at that shop in a legacy tournament. I'm on top today! :D
Which brings me to my opening comment.. Back in the days, last time I had the deck assembled, I didn't know, what I was doing... Playing wrong all the time and blindfolded run into even the simplest of Dazes, Spell Pierces and FoW's...
But getting the deck back together again... Replacing bolts with g-probes, focusing more on playing that (In all the meta's these days) devastating turn 1 moon effect, with backup or the ability to change your gameplan accordingly to what the OP has in hand... I'm falling even more in love with this favourite deck, than I used to be :D
Being monoR by heart, I can't see myself playing the white version, though I recognize the strength in the build. I may decide in the future to try it out, but as long as I can continue to push this version I'm playing.
My gut feeling is that we're gonna have the possibility to punish the meta at least another year, before we're such a big threat, that all the top Tier decks are gonna board for us :D

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Is white the only good splash?
Is a splashing a couple blue viable? Trinket mage or intuition maybe? I have some blue fetches/duals, the reason for asking.
thanks

Personally I think the white splash is the best solution for the deck. I've seen a few guys play the U/R version, but in my oppinion, it seems it lacks raw power, compared to the monoR version and stability compared to the white version..
But I can't say for sure... But if you like to play with counterspells, you should go for it (y)

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
Went to a local event today where I usually play Goblins. Went 2-2 for my first time out with the deck.
My list (similar to jandax' monored with some tweaks where I am still waiting for some cards):
7 Mountain
1 Great Furnace
4 Fetches
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
3 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Grindstone
4 Painter's Servant
1 Lotus Petal
4 Blood Moon
4 Pyroblast
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Magus of the Moon
4 Imperial Recruiter
4 Simian Spirit Guide
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Jaya Ballard, Task Mage
1 Goblin Welder
2 Koth of the Hammer
3 Ensnaring Bridge
Sideboard:
4 Grafdigger's Cage
3 Thorn of Amethyst
1 Sudden Demise
2 Phyrexian Revoker
1 Koth of the Hammer
3 Ratchet Bomb
1 Manic Vandal
Match 1: 2-0 against WU Stoneblade
Game 1 I am on the go and get a moon out turn 1 which keeps him on one island + x mountains for the rest of the game. He plays 3 snapcasters and still brings me down to 6 before I stabilize and combo out. Game 2 I keep a 6 with Koth, 3 blast, 1 ancient tomb and top. Play Tomb > Top in my first turn and see Painter, Tomb, Grindstone :) He gets a pithing needle out turn 2 on grindstone. I play a painter and blast his needle. Combo out my following turn.
Match 2: 2-1 against Bant
Game 1 I keep a hand with Painter, Grindstone, 2 pyroblast, one land. T1 on the go, Mountain into grindstone. T2 I am lucky and topdeck a Sol land -> Painter. T3 I combo.
Game 2 on the draw I get an Ancient Tomb > SDTop turn 1. Sensei's Divining Top will never show me a land for the rest of the game and I stay painfully stuck at two lands. He gets 1 Qasali Pridemage, 2 Vendillion Cliques out and a big Jace (only for one turn as he had nothing to answer a REB on it). But i quickly lose to his fliers.
Game 3 on the go again. I mull to 6 to 2 land, 1 blast, 1 Maniac vandal, 1 painter and one Phyrexian revoker. On his T1 he drops a pithing needle on Grindstone, turn 2 a city of traitors allows me to play a moon and then I have all my time to play vandal and my combo to end the game by T5 as he had no basic and no other board presence.
Match 3: 0-2 against Merfolk
Game 1 on the draw, he FoWs my bridge T2. T3 I get a moon to stick so his Island, Mutavault, Mishra's factory are less appealing but by turn 5 he still has managed to get me down to 3 life and wipe my guys. T6 I go for a bridge again with no cards in hand but it's a FoW again and I lose.
Game 2 on the go. Mull to 6 to find 2 grindstone, 1 blast, 3 lands. I lay my stones out while he gets some Silvergill adepts. I get a moon online but he had a vial already. I lay down a vexing shusher on turn 3 but the following turn he gets two lords online and gets a fast clock.
Match 4: 0-2 against RUG delver
Game 1 on the draw, I keep a fairly good hand (Fetch, Mountain, Furnace, Stone, Monkey, Painter, Top).He gets a delver T1 flipped turn 2 (off a stifle) while I get a Top followed by a Painter T2. T3 he has two delvers online. I have 5 life at the end of T3 and him 18. Thank you Ancient tomb for the damage. There I was taking notes at the end of his turn and when he passes, instead of activating top, i just went into my turn. I had only enough mana to activate Grindstone knowing he had Stifle. I needed to find land+blast/REB+x with top. Since I did not activate it at his EoT, I got nothing instead and dies to delvers.
Game 2 on the go. I get a recruiter for magus T1. He dazes my magus T2. T3 I go for Bridge, he dazes off a brainstorm. T4 he flips his delver while we both have one land each (thanks to Daze and City of Traitors) (life is even at 18/19 then). He then gets a 4/5 Goyf online while I get a recruiter for painter. He swings (I have 8 life) and he plays a second Goyf 5/6 online while my guys chomp block. I top deck the missing SoL land to allow me to go off for the combo but he REB my painter. Yes, I named blue. Shame on me.
All in all that last one was a tough match up as he had 2 stifles, 4 Fow, some dazes and boarded in 3 REB and he got to find the answers he needed while I tried to push through.
Overall IP is quite a fun deck to play. Sudden demise got raised eyebrows every time I showed off what I had in my SB to my opponents. Definitely they were not counting on sweepers in such a deck.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
So, am I seeing a push towards sudden demise vs firebolts? I can see an argument for both. Bolts seem better against jund and most delver decks, as you can 2 for 1 their creatures over multiple turns. Where I can see sudden demise better against tribal decks.
Also, I don't understand the cage as the graveyard hate of choice. I get the interaction with elves and possibly maverick, but it doesn't answer the problem of trying to combo out against emrakul, progen, etc.

Re: [Deck] Imperial Painter
On the topic of White. I run it but main no white cards. In the side I have a Peacekeeper and E tutors. This really does help. My view being that if the Moons come out, Tutor goes in, thus you gain a more smooth running combo in the place of your control.
