So how is it looking for top 8 Jbone
32nd. $100. Woo!
Shit better than I've ever done! Nice!
Congratulations!
Decklist and report might be a while. For some reason I can't access the website on my computer, 403 error? Posting from my phone for now.
Allot of people having that issue. Wonder why? Works fine for me
Grats on the finish jbone! Way to represent! Wish I could have been there! Stupid jobs.
I went 6-3 in msp playing punishing fire and got 51st. i beat land tax, UR delver, belcher, jund, and goblins x 2, and lost to reanimator and 2 merfolk decks. merfolk was very sad - in 2 matches i mulled to 5 4 times to lose an easy matchup. The UR delver player had been told by a judge the round before that a flipped delver had a cmc of one when his opponent tried to deed it - was that vs. one of you? Three of my opponents mentioned that they had played vs. nic fit the previous round.
my friend won though, so there's that.
I had a really rough day getting a judge screwover in round 1. And then proceeded to get to play all 3 of the trifecta of decks we dont wanna see. High Tide, 12 Post(monogreen which was worse almost), and Reanimator over the course of the day. I did beat Merfolk once, Delver once, Zoo once, and Miracles to a 4-5 finish. Ironic that a deck designed around basics got stuck with 3 duals in play no fetches and no explorer until it was too late against a merfolk. Losing to Back to Basics lol.
Of note was the epic miracles game in round 5 where a Garruk Relentless ultimate ended the stalemate with 1:02 left in time after game one.
Also Im super excited my good friend got to take it all the way this year.
I'm at work, so I can type up my list.

I loved this list and I wouldn't change anything in the main if I were to play the deck at the same tournament again. I was about to go with the 4 Gitaxian Probe plan, then we realized that Thoughtseize is basically paying 1 more mana to take their best card instead of draw one random card. It's been a while since I played Thoughtseize main and it was fantastic. I also got Huntmaster going and I was surprised at how easy it is to chain flip him with Punishing Fire. I usually play Scapeshift, so I hadn't got to experience him in his full glory, and it was awesome.
It sucked to lose to merfolk twice when I should crush them, but I got a string of very bad hands. I made up for it vs. Belcher by going T1 Thoughtseize, see 2 Lotus Petal, take Belcher. Turn 3 rip a cabal therapy, take 3 Lotus Petals, GSZ for Explorer, flashback, take 2 Seething Songs.
And nice work by Kenny Dungar representing my LGS :D
I really like your list. TS is a better idea than Probe, I agree. Losing to Merfolk twice is bad luck. They can be dangerous if they get too many Lords, but you have the 3 Decays and the 3 Deeds and the Red Blasts from the SB for them. A few questions:
- why the Needles in the SB?
- did you get to use Kessig Wolf Run?
- what do you think about a 2/2 split between Inquisition and Thoughtseize?
- with the extra 1-Mana-Discard and the Decays it seems like Witness would always have something good to return. Maybe run a second?
- how good was the Ooze?
- how good was the Garruk?
- how good was the SB Liliana?
Needles used to be thoughtseize, but when I moved them to main the morning of the tournament, I had to pick something. I'm sure there is some better choice, but the needles were ok. I boarded them in against Land Tax for Scroll Rack, and I boarded them in against Death and Taxes because they have a million targets (One of my goblin matches was actually DnT - my memory was bad in the car on the way back).
I fucking love Kessig Wolf Run and I will never play red Nic Fit without it. It's always the first thing I grab with Prime Time because then even if they kill prime time, every creature you draw can just end the game on its own. I won quite a few games because of it.
I could see it, but I'm always nervous playing non-Thoughtseize. I feel like the 2 life matters less in the long run than the restriction on what you can grab. I'm also 90% sure that turn 1 Thoughtseize is the best thing you can be doing in Legacy right now. There are a lot of decks where their opening hand goes from good to terrible after one Thoughtseize.
I could see a second, I didn't really think about it. I've only ever run one.
Ooze was decent. Not great, but he did his job. I wouldn't take him out. He's a good way to get out an early blocker against aggressive creature decks.
I only saw/cast Garruk once, so I can't really comment.
Lili was a card I moved from main to side to fit in Thoughtseize, and I only boarded her in once against Reanimator but then I got Iona blacked. I didn't play in any other matchups where I wanted her over anything else, so I could see taking her out of the board along with the Needles. I put her in because I'm scared of Geist and Mongoose, but I didn't really see them, so idk.
I ran UWR Stoneblade this weekend but ran into ScapeWish in R3. I don't think he gave two shits about my Geists between Deed and having sufficient blockers thanks to Huntmaster to easily deal with it. Sure you'll take an angel hit, but that's about it.
Sounds like a fair number of Nic Fitters were in MPLS (attendance was 301):
Ayotte
jbone
Karang
My R3 opponent (I believe he said he ran Arianrhod's list if you're curious)
Besides Jbone there was actually one other gentleman at the tournament I saw actually running Thunian-fit. Kinda funny to watch the one match he dropped turn 2 angel into turn 4 combo off the GSZ.

I was your round three opponent. I was playing scapeshift again. I dropped at 4 - 2, after getting my world wrecked by omni-tell. Beat goblins, UWR delver, Junk Rock and RUG delver on the day. Lost to esperblade in a close one and horribly to Omni-tell.
I watched a thunian nic fit deck against burn (Must have been Jbone?). It didn't look very fun for the burn player. Nice work and grats on the money finish!
People who played Thune over the weekend: what did you feel worked vs what didn't. Strengths vs weaknesses. Pros/cons. Etc. I'm on my phone because of the stupid fucking 403 error, so my posts are a little tight atm. I hate posting on my phone, lol. But yeah. WTB feedback from people who've played this thing for a lot of rounds now.
