Yes, of course, but you still have to run the Emrakul package in addition to the Release the Ants kill because of some awkward situations and matchups where you can't kill your opponent with Release the Ants… Laboratory Maniac doesn't require Emrakul in the same way… Hence why Release the Ants does indeed require Emrakul.

Not really. Think about it like this:
In Legacy, the only cards that can beat / tie EtI (CMC: 11) once you start clashing, barring the mirror, are Blightsteel Colossus (very rare to run across) or Emrakul (more common).
Certainly, the Lab Maniac kill generally doesn't care about what's in your opponent's deck - that's the entire reason to play it. The cost is that it takes up an extra sideboard slot compared to the RtA kill. The whole debate is about whether or not that extra slot is worth the more guaranteed kill.
The Emrakul package is not because of those situations, but is played as an out to Gaddock Teeg / Thalia / Taxing effects if you get down an Omniscience (and have only 1 Cunning Wish) but your opponent has one of those out, which happens regardless of if you're playing Release the Ants or Lab Maniac kill. If you notice, both lists posted by Lejay and Emidln play the Emrakul + Eladamri's Call package.

The Emrakul is absolutely also for the reasons Patrunkenphat7 listed. The deck needs a backup way to win against decks that can tie or beat the clash. Release the Ants cannot beat an Emrakul in the opponents deck. 12 Post, the mirror, Sneak and Show etc. You need another way to win and Emrakul is the cleanest way to do so.
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
I didn't know Lejay was also running Emrakul package in the Lab Maniac version. I wasn't when I tested it because the Emrakul main can be a little awkward at times. In my list I basically took out the Emrakul for a 4th Cunning Wish (which is essentially another Enter the Infinite), and I replaced the SB Eladamri's Call and Release the Ants with Research/Development and Laboratory Maniac. So I actually felt like the Lab Maniac kill opened up an extra slot in the main and took up the same number of slots in the SB. In general the Laboratory Maniac kill has just felt a lot more consistent against the field so far.

Certainly, the Emrakul / Eladamri's Call is useful for the cases where Emrakul is in the opponent's deck, but Lejay has stated the primary reason is to have an out under Teeg / Thalia, etc.
Even if they have an Emrakul, you can just let them draw it, Noxious Revival your RtA, and continue on. You have options other than the Emrakul / Call package, but I agree it's the easiest backup finisher.

To clarify, Lejay's list is the Mono blue one that runs the RtA kill with 1 Emrakul in the main and 1 Eladamri's Call in the board. Emidln's list is the one that splashes 1 Underground Sea in the main with some discard in the board, uses the Lab Maniac kill, and has both Emrakul + Call in the sideboard (you bring in Emrakul against the Teeg / Thalia decks).
If you're running Emrakul + Call as a backup win in both versions, the Lab Maniac kill takes up 1 more slot in your 75 than the RtA kill, but is a more guaranteed win (without having to use Emrakul).

Sure. Unless, being the genius that we all know you are, you decided to side in either Research, Lab Man, or Emrakul for game two.
Call/Emrakul is optional in Lab Man lists. It's an alternate way to deal with hate bears that has more surprise value and is slightly different to fight than bounce/removal spells (variety of threats is a big deal).
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
I board in one bounce spell when I play against Meddling Mage opponents. If they name Cunning Wish, then you just win by combo-ing then bouncing. Surgical Cunning Wish involves them discarding the wish (because it's exiled upon resolution if cast) and then resolving a Surgical Extraction on the Cunning Wish when it's in the graveyard. What is much more common is an awkward Emrakul in hand when you have Dream Halls in play.

SB: 1 Swamp
SB: 1 Eladamri's Call
SB: 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
What about match against non standard-meta deck like monoblack (mass discarding) and mono brown (trini, golem and chalice are big problems)?
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
A friend of mine is having issues against reanimator playing omnitell, any tips on this or suggestions?

If your metagame asks you to run 4 grave hate, you should probably play another deck.
I said the deck lost to grave decks right from the beginning. It should beat every other meta though.
If he's dead-set on this deck, have him try emidln's build. I talked briefly about playing reanimator with his build in my tournament report for Somerset here. If he expects to play Reanimator, cut the Teferi's Realm in my board for a Noxious Revival and consider finding room for a 3rd Flusterstorm in the 75.
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
I am fairly new to playing combo decks, so I would appreciate some insight. I have not seen this situation previously discussed, but I apologize if I overlooked it elsewhere.
Question: Play one leyline or two?
Situation: In game 2 against a base BG deck, I boarded in leyline of sanctity to turn off hand disruption. I know my opponent runs maelstrom pulse (main deck) and probably a golgari charm and a krosan grip as enchantment hate out of the sideboard (seen these from him previously). Other enchantment hate is possible though unlikely. I open a hand with 2 leylines and no brainstorms.
Should I play one or both leylines on T0?
What I did: I played both to dodge singleton enchantment hate, but I question whether I should have kept one in hand to potentially be an extra card if I found brainstorm later in the game.
What should I have done?
Edit: Rest of opening hand was Ponder, Island, Flooded Strand, Show and Tell, Dream Halls

I would play both Leylines. If anything, you want your opponent to worry about those leylines and not your omniscience/dream halls.
You will only have 1 Leyline in your opener 33.63% of the time, and 2 only 5.93% of the time, with more than that less than 1 game in 250, so it's not that relevant. This seems like a corner case, and it's worth thinking about whether you want to take the risk of drawing into a BS and wanting to put it back. With a BS in my opener I may consider it more strongly if I can ensure having a T2 Brainstorm + Fetch, since that is for sure going to net me a card. Otherwise I think I put it back.
Experience: ~100 matches with the deck on MODO, and a SCG top 16.
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
What about a Fire Covenant side card? It could be good for mass removing thalia, gaddock, meddling, etc...
Re: [Deck] MonoU OmniTell
I liked Massacre with Emidln's list. Gets everything but Teeg and doesn't require you to play red. If you're going to splash red, you might as well just play Pyroclasm.

Fire Covenant is istant and is wishable... massacre or Pyroclasm no.

So what kind of manabase are you suggesting then? Since there's no way you're going to be able to consistently get 1BR without cutting a bunch of basic islands...

Started playing this deck next to TES. I love the dark side.
Tom the card you are looking for is sudden spoiling. And I clearly wouldn't run it.
