Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I'd run Vindicate so you can mana denial, and then just run Zealous Persecution. Ideally, if you're running SOFAI, you can race them in the air with tokens, and out of the board, blow them out with Zealous all day.
Also, never be afraid of 61 cards. It calls for you. It yearns for you.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Used to run Judgement. It's a fine card but I cut it for an Abrupt Decay because of Counterbalance mainly. Also lowering the mana curve is also kind of nice especially for me since my curve is a bit higher than most Deadguy decks.
I like Hero over Brimaz since it's a quicker clock and Hero can't be Decayed. I rarely have an issue of Hero getting stonewalled by a Tarmogoyf. I run oodles of removal. I'm honestly more worried about Hero getting Dazed or Swords to Plowshares.
As far as True Name is concerned, there aren't as many of those right now in the meta. Not terribly worried since.
-can race with Sword of Fire and Ice
-Liliana can sometimes kill it if they don't have countermagic and/or other dudes.
-sideboard options are plentiful. Zealous Persecution is insane. I also run a Toxic Deluge.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
I totally forgot about Zealous lol. I run it but I dont think I drew it a single time in any of my games. Maybe I should make it 2 copies instead of 1 if it becomes an issue.
I also plan on running SoFaI, but I don't have it yet. I currently have a SoBaM in its place for now, which I should have remembered had pro-blue as well. The wolf token and Deathrite fuel would have been nice.
As for Hero vs Brimaz vs Mirran Crusader, I think I'll try to play with all 3 and see which one I like most, or maybe as a meta call. All three have some really good strengths that I love.

Wolf tokens are nice but milling an opponent can be very scary. Fire and Ice is definitely where you want to go.
My personal preference is Hero. It's the only one of the three that is immune to both Lightning Bolt and Abrupt Decay. And on uncontested board Hero is probably a 2 turn clock. 7 damage on first swing. 11 on the 2nd.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
hell, just plain old lingering souls with it's flashback races true name. Souls plus Sorin's -2 emblem? Good luck racing that

Anyone have tested against Eldrazis?

I got smashed by them twice in tournaments, here's what I've noticed:
Wasteland is good, but unless they miss a land drop and you can set them behind, Wasting a land actually may actually set us behind more. We lose 1 turn of tempo, but since most of their lands tap for 2, they can recover faster than we can.
Discard is really good, but you need to go first or dodge Chalice on 1. I moved my Thoughtseizes to the SB and put Hymns main to help circumvent this in the matchup. I think it'll work out well.
Abrupt Decay is ok; you need it to kill Chalice and it can take out a Mimic or Revoker, late game save it for Endless One.
In general if you can survive by turn 4 or 5 until they're topdecking, we should be fine. Try to keep W up for STP if they drop Thought Knot, you can kill it in response so they don't take your removal. Always be wary of Reality Smasher, and save up extra cards if you can to pitch to it. Mass tokens are great for chumping (anything but Smasher), and ZP might actually be useful in wiping Mimics or Revokers.
If your meta is heavy in Eldrazi, consider Humility or Retribution of the Meek as sideboard options. I've wanted to test those but I'm not playing against it enough to really be worth the slots.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Only did a bit of testing and only pre board. Usually bad for dead guy though. Probably going to put an ensnaring bridge in board. Curious, how does humility work with endless one? Is it a timestamp issue? Good idea jrsthethird to take out one mana discard on the draw.
I'm going to try that too. Hoping my deluge and zealous can get a 2 for 1. Good news for me is shriekmaw kills any of the eldrazi. And not only that I don't discard a card to smasher ability because it's an effect, not a spell. Lol

So Endless One is really good for them with Humility; Humility's effect happens in layer 7a for every creature. Counters are applied later, in layer 7d. So Endless One actually has P/T of X+1/X+1 (because it has X counters, but the base P/T is now 1/1 instead of 0/0). It's the only guy they have that survives Humility, but we can easily save STP/Decay for it. However, if we have a heavy token strategy, we can chump block for days.

Depending on what comes out of SOI, with madness and enablers, running a discard-heavy madness build with LOTV, Putrid Imp, Oona's Prowler, and Big Game Hunter might work on a similar axis. Bonus points that Imp, Prowler, and new Heir (1/1, discard to flip to a 3/2 flier) all have flying and can go overhead.

The card itself, Anguished unmaking, is meh. It has no reason to be prefered to C-Judgement.

If the card were say uncounterable too I'd play one or 2 in board/main to replace a decay or 2.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
The difference is being able to actually kill a Jace in response to +0, mid-combat tricks, or hitting Batterskull after they drop it end of turn. Those aren't irrelevant.
I would have preferred the option to hit a land for 3+ life, or a nonland for no life. Just saying.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Wizards thinks that land destruction takes fun out of the game, at least as far as a primary strategy goes. I want more LD also, but I doubt we will ever see it again in a flavor that constructed eternal formats can appreciate.

Oh I'd love that too but they aren't going to print Vindicate for Standard. I suppose Beast Within is as close as you are going to get as far as a 3 mana destroy a land.
I would have accepted it as a sorcery but uncounterable. Instant is cool and all in the situations you mentioned and plenty more but I'd way prefer uncounterable over instant. That way, I wouldn't have as many clunky Abrupt Decays in my 75. :)

Absolutely, I would play Vindicate everytime over this. I think this is modern playable, but that's about it. I was so very sad when they didn't complete the uncounterable RTR Cycle for a BW card - considering every one of the cards sees some sort of play.
On a side note, it's nice to see another Deadguy player in Toronto :) Played at my first event last week and someone mentioned your name as the only other player in TO playing this deck.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Yea, TNN doesn't seem as big as an issue now that I think about it. I just never drew enough gas to out race it + jitte, or removal that could hit either.

Yea, I'm definitely going to be using a SoFaI, just gotta find someone with one for trade (which is impossible apparently lol)
and I'm definitely feeling Hero, if they can't answer it its pretty much game over.

Elves, Young Pyro and TNN is not so big in my meta so I have my two ZB in the sideborad now. I had a in main before.
Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)
Been grinding my Abzan build in locals lately, went 3-0-1 and 2-1-1 the past two events.
Last Thursday - 3-0-1
Budget Jund - 2-0
Merfolk - 2-1
Esper Mentor - 2-1
Lands - ID, played a few matches after, went 1-3
Last night - 2-1-1
Aggro Loam - 2-1
Infect - 1-2
Death and Taxes - 1-1 draw
Sultai Control (non-Shardless) - 2-0
Pretty happy so far. Hymn has been an all-star for me.
Just finished a 5-match League on MTGO. Went 1-4; only played one fair deck (Grixis Delver) which I won 2-0 rather handily.
My losses:
ANT (1-2) - I put up a fight in game 3 but he got there.
Reanimator (1-2) - Denied him resources rather well game 1, and he drew into the Exhume a turn before I could get his last Grizzy with DRS. Game 2 was won off of denial/Thalia from SB, and Game 3 was pretty handily his.
Zombardment (0-2) - Did not know what to expect, misplayed a lot from inexperience with the deck. Game 2 he sided in Magus of the Moon; I handled it and went Waste+Surgical on his Badlands, figuring it would be his only red source. I was almost right, but he had his singleton Undiscovered Paradise in hand. I almost got there with SOLAS, but misplayed into his active Bombardment and he got me down to 0 before I could get my DRS online for more life.
Oops, All Spells (0-2) - He won the roll, mulled to 5, and won the game. Game 2 I kept a hand with Surgical + Crypt, but his hand was on the Belcher plan. Didn't have the mana for it, but drew an LED next turn to win.
Does anyone play blue decks on MTGO anymore?

Cool. Yeah I'm the only guy in Toronto that plays Deadguy Ale. There's a guy that I bump into that plays Deadguy in Oshawa. Lol, but really there aren't many Deadguy players at all.
At SCG Worcester for day 2 the meta breakdown had 1 Deadguy player....me. For Grand Prix New Jersey I was listed as BW Stoneblade, 1 of 2 players on that deck. Although I heard the other guy was on a maindeck gameplan of Helm/Leyline combo. Considering that nerfs Treasure Cruise that was a pretty good idea.
Well welcome to the thread and the Toronto Meta.
So Sorin got spoiled. 6 mana. crap. LOL, i was hoping for 3 mana but that's a hail mary pipe dream. Of course, I did try Elspeth, Sun's Champion once. Once.

Pitches to Unmask!
EDIT: I'd love to find a way to make that work; probably by building the whole deck in a fashion that essentially draw cards (Bob, Truths)
