That's... a very good point. Thanks for reminding me, so there isn't even any other line to take in that spot, nevermind then.

I'm going to ask again (even though i don't have the time to read the whole thread, i believe this should be the most common question), is it possible to have a competitive version of this deck without candelabras (because they are so damn expensive...)
thx in advance
I would daresay that Candelabra is one of the core cards in the deck. Not running it will definitely make the deck a whole lot weaker.
Understandably, it wins games even without seeing it in play, however, I would strongly recommend having even at least 1 piece as it opens up a lot of plays for the deck.
Some of which include:
- Playing Primeval Titan with only a single source of G mana (As early as turn 4)
- Playing Eldrazi without the need for Show and Tell or an extreme ramp (I've managed to play Ulamog or Kozilek in turn 3 before)
- Being able to fetch for Eldrazi after Titan-ing an Eye of Ugin into play in the same turn
- Being able to use Vesuvas and Cloudposts the turn they enter play
I've seen lists with only 1 Candelabra that run Trinket Mages to make up for it.
What happened to my favorite funky deck?
Someone just used the deck to a good finish at our local legacy tournament. Too bad he was beaten out of top 8 by an Omniscience deck.
Any new tech we can use?

Could we possibly find use for this?
Sup!
I've been playing Turbo Eldrazi for a longtime now with alot of succes at my local store.
im playing a very common U/G list, nothing special really.
The thing is that alot of people are playing combo at the local store atm, so the traditional U/G list cant really do much.
And even if i board 10 cards in, the deck just cant hold em back for long enough.
So i was thinking of making a B/G Turbo eldrazi list. with discard and some sweet sideboard options.
Heres a list i made really quick:
3x Primeval Titan
1x Emrakul
1x Kozelik
1x Ulamog
4x Crop rotation
4x Top
4x Thoughtseize
3x Living Wish - something i've been thinking about for a while, could be quite nice, but im not sure if it will work. still need to test it.
2x Inquisition Of Kozilek
2x Exepediton Map
2x Oblivion Stone
2x Candelabra of Tawnos
3x Pithing Needle
4x Cloudpost
4x Glimmerpost
4x Vesuva
4x Verdant catacombs
3x Bayou
1x Forest
1x Swamp
1x Eye of ugin
1x Karakas
1x Bojuka bog
1x Urborg, Tomb of yawgmoth.
Thats 56 cards. You can add 4 innocents bloods, or you could even add Hexmage + dark depths combo. i just dont like playing something that costs BB.
Sideboard.
1x primeval titan
1x Emrakul
1x Tabernacle
xx Duress
xx Chalice
xx Mindbreak trap
and so on.
What do we lose from taking out blue ? well, Show and tell, Repeal and Brainstorm. some really strong cards, but with all the Sneak and show, Omnitell there is around, i tend to board out show and tell alot
atm.
Repeal is a really strong card in some match ups, like Rug delver etc etc. but atm its a pretty dead card for me, and i board it out alot.
Overall i really love Turbo Eldrazi, its insane against all the fair decks and its fun as hell.
but with the current meta i cant really get anywhere.
Oxide.
Sorry for bad Engrish btw, im not that good at spelling and shit
If your meta has lots of combo cutting blue is a death wish. Discard is much easier for combo to survive (brainstorm) and losing Flusterstorm seems like a bad idea to me. I'm also not on board with Living Wish but I've never tried it. Your english is perfect by the way.
EDIT- What type of combo decks are they playing?
Hi everybody!
I just went to a small 8-men tournament. I went 2-1.
My list is classical but I lack 1 Trop and 1 Tabernacle:
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmerpost
4 Vesuva
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Polluted Delta
3 Tropical Island
2 Island
1 Karakas
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Glacial Chasm
1 Eye of Ugin
4 Primeval Titan
1 Emrakul, The Aeons Torn
1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 Ulamog, The Infinite Gyre
4 Sensei's divining top
4 Expedition Map
1 Candelabra of Tawnos
3 Pithing Needle
3 Show and Tell
4 Oblivion Stone
4 Crop Rotation
4 Repeal
Sideboard:
2 Spell Pierce
2 Mindbreak Trap
1 Blue elemental blast
1 Hydroblast
1 Show and Tell
4 Flusterstorm
1 Pithing Needle
2 Venser, Shaper Savant
1 Maze of Ith
First round against BUG: (0-2)
Game 1: I made a huge mistake cracking my map during my turn to fetch Eye of Ugin while 1) I already made a land drop & 2) he had an active Liliana... I manage to loose a game I should have won!
Game 2: I board the 4th pithing Needle & Show and Tell. He wastes my Cloudpost and Surgical Extraction it... Even with that I could have one and I was one mana short before he killed me with goyfs and deathrite. I managed to stay alive a long time with Needle on Liliana, Bojuka Bog to shrink his Goyfs etc...
Second round against Painter: (2-0)
Game 1: He plays Blood Moon on his 2nd turn with sol land + Chrome Mox. I respond with Show and Tell -> Emrakul!
Game 2: I Hydroblast his Blood Moon, he manages to Painter + Grindstone me but I have 3 Eldrazis wich he didn't remember the shuffle effect. He counters my Show and Tell but I topdeck an other one and win with Kozilek. It turns out he didn't have Crypt or anything to exile my graveyard so I could have play more carefully.
Third round against Esper: (2-0)
Game 1: I mull to 6 and he begins with discard (ouch!). He doesn't know my deck very well and all I see from him is Mishra's Factory, Tundra, Underground Sea and Top. A show and Tell Titan onto a hardcast Emrakul gets there.
Game 2: He doesn't do much even if he has a Jace. Well timed Repeal + Oblivion Stone ensure a clean Board in order to hardcast Emrakul.
I was pretty happy with the deck and even manage to destroy a Belcher deck in a casual game (1st game Needle on Belcher and 2nd game Flusterstorm + Mindbreak Trap in the starting hand!).
Cheers.
Gonna have to agree with HammafistRoob here. If your local meta is filled to the Brim with Storm, then it might not be the best deck to play.
Still, that's not saying it's a totally unwinnable matchup. However, you are really at a disadvantage there.
I would wait until your local meta rotates to playing tons of Control decks like Esper and Miracles before I dust off Turbo Eldrazi.
Incidentally, I also find it to be a bit underwhelming in a black-heavy meta, where BUG, Jund and Junk run rampant.
I've been toying with the new Dark Depths - Thespian Stage interaction in 12Post, it's really easy to accommodate an alternate (possibly faster) win con, we already have 8-7 land search spells (plus Titans) and some versions (including mine) have at least 1 Thespian Stage in there as well. I'm doing some light testing with one Dark Depths main.
We really got screwed with the Karakas new interaction though (no longer works as a pseudo wasteland against other Karakas).
Thanks Hammafistroob! I had some posts a number of years ago, but I guess they either get reset or the threads no longer exists...
Anyways, yeah you're right the Karakas is not that relevant on eldrazi(s) on most cases, I meant to say that it could stop the Dark Depths token plan :)
Ahh I gotcha. Maybe you posted from a different account back then or something? I'm pretty sure the post count is very accurate. (Except for DrJones, who obviously doesn't have over 100,000 posts lol)
To be honest, i feel that new rulings would seriously affect Kozilek, since it's the only one that cannot really get rid of it (90% of the cases you'll play Emrakul paying its casting costs, so even if it's bounced you still get the extra turn to cast him again)
About discarding effects, i agree with you saying this deck is often soft to them, so i was wondering if it's time to swap our hydroblasts for more defense... i was thinking about [Card]Leyline of sanctity[/Card] or [Card]Divert[/Card]. They have both their strenghts and weaknesses: Leyline is non sense by playing less than 4x, and i'm not sure if i want to side in such "dead cards" in matchups like BUG and mulling into oblivion just to find them in my opening hand, but most tempo decks cannot get rid of them and they could help fighting against ANT too that is not such a good matchup for us. On the other hand, Divert seems really powerful in early games (Diverting an Hymn to Tourach or an Abrupt Decay is so much fun!), while a bad spell pierce in a late one... what do you think about them?
Played the deck to a top 8 finnish at a 32 man tournament, i didnt keep any notes but here are the matchups.
Round 1 - Jund 1-1
I lost game 1, Game 2 he wastelanded me 4 times and used surgical extraction on cloudpost, however pithing needle on liliana, glimmerposts, and him missing a couple of tabernacle triggers made me stay alive until i could hardcast ulamog and kozilek.
Round 2 - Esperblade 1-0
Game 1 I won easily, game 2 i once again got my cloudposts extracted, however similar to the first round i managed to stay alive until i could hardcast my eldrazis, he had answers for them but time was called and i sat safely behind a glacial chasm with 30+ health.
Round 3 - Dreadstill 1-2
i won game 1, in game 2 and 3 he managed to resolve early dreadnoughts and had counters for every relevant spell.
Round 4 - Return to Ravnica block deck 2-0
This guy had just returned to magick after after a hiatus and played with the cards he had available.
Round 5 - BWg Deadguy Ale? 1-0
I got doubble Hymned and then he played a Liliana which he ultimated me with. However with some tight play i managed to stay alive and eventually was able to cast kozilek 2 times using repeal and then blew his board with Oblivion Stone. This was a long game, we had just drawn our hands for game 2 when time was called.
Quarterfinals - UG Infect 1-2
This is a tricky matchup which i never tested before, they don't have any answer to glacial chasm so we need to be able to tutor for it in the early turns and hope they dont counter the tutor spell.
Game 1 i managed to crop rotation for it in respone to his pump spells, however i wasn't able to develop my board before i had to sacrifice it.
Game 2 He got a slow start, but he had a FoW for my crop rotation, however i had another one which he didnt have the counter for, with some good draws i was able to hardcast Emrakul a few turns later.
Game 3 He was on the play with a fast hand and a FOW, not much i could do.
Here's my List:
CREATURES (7)
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
4 Primeval Titan
SORCERIES (4)
4 Show and Tell
INSTANTS (11)
4 Crop Rotation
4 Brainstorm
3 Repeal
ARTIFACTS (13)
4 Sensei’s Divining Top
3 Pithing Needle
3 Expedition Map
2 Oblivion Stone
1 Candelabra of Tawnos
LANDS (25)
4 Tropical Island
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmerpost
4 Vesuva
2 Misty Rainforest
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Flooded Strand
1 Island
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Karakas
1 Eye of Ugin
1 Glacial Chasm
SIDEBOARD
3 Flusterstorm
2 Mindbreak Trap
2 Blue Elemental Blast
2 Venser, Shaper Savant
2 Chalice of the Void
1 All Is Dust
1 Oblivion Stone
1 Phyrexian Revoker
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
2 weeks before the tournament i decided to cut the Trinket Mages from the deck since they seemed to slow at the moment and increased the number of Pithing Needles back to 3.
Being able to shut down liliana and deathrite shaman was really strong in the BGx matchups.
What is the point of having just one Candelabra?
You don't have Trinket Mage to find it. Are Brainstorm and SDT enough to find it (and speed you enough?)
This deck has a lot of digging power and im often able to find the candelabra if i really need it, the main reason i only play one is because i don't want to cut anything in my list for more copies, i feel like the other cards are more important at the moment.
Random thought: could the depth/stage combo fit into this deck? Thespian's stage can be used as extra cloudposts and you only need to add in a single dark depths.
It will require some testing. I like the idea of randomly winning off of 4 mana eot, but the deck space as always is tight, and with no dudes to fill in the gap against lilianas/stp's, still losing to wasteland, and being blocked by delvers is annoying.
With Dark Depths being an option, I would suggest rolling into the July 13 meta with repeals stocked on the main though.
