Yes, that version was much better and solved problem one I listed, but as I said in my post in response to post 522 I normally have a very heavy blue meta and problem two was still an issue. The flex slots I spoke of normally vary between gitaxian probes/counters and a now 1 of intuition in the main after seeing the seeing the results from the previous SCG winner, which is currently performing pretty well.Quote:

I think in the mirror match, it really comes down to how many counters you have. This deck can't win at instant speed, you need to cast enter the infinite to go off. You also need to consider that if they have an omniscience as well, they have both counters as well as cunning wish->wipe away to stall your win. Probe will help you know when you can go off and how many counters you need.
If the mirror matchup is becoming too common for you, I think the black splash has the most relevance in both the mirror and in general. Discard helps break the symmetry of show and tell as well as getting rid of hate pieces and flusterstorm.
That all makes sense, except that the highlighted statement is not correct. It can go off at instant speed, however it is a narrow corner case which involves you not having a counter to wish for as might happen in game 2, them not having a counter in hand, and some favorable flips as follows: Opponent casts S&T, you both play omniscience, they put enter the infinite on the stack, at which point you cunning wish for Release the ants and go for the clash kill before their enter resolves. This only works if you get lucky with the clashes, but it is not uncommon to float cards at the top of your library, or to brainstorm in response to stack the top of your library giving you a punchers chance. Like I said, narrow corner case, but it is worth realizing that it exists.Quote:

Yup, you never want to be in that situation, but you might as well play to your 1% out rather than just pick up your cards.

Is the main reason for Sapphire Charm instead of just Slaughter Pact so that you can save a mana off dealing with a Thalia when you go off? Or are there any other situations I can't think of (I'm sure there are, I'm quite new to this deck)?
Since you can't pay for the pact, slaughter pact is there to get rid of the necessary hate bear for the least amount of mana possible on the turn you go off (Thalia, Teeg, Canonist).Quote:

The mirror match depends almost entirely on having Omniscience and Cunning Wish. Typically I just jam as soon as possible and make my opponent have it. I would not wait for having two counters or even 1. It matters if you have counters if they jam, but otherwise it's more important that it's your turn. Besides cunning wish and counters both decks do not interact much, and there just aren't that many counters in the deck especially when players are running Pact, which is not a counter unless you are going off.Quote:

Congratulations on the top 16. I was saw the list after it was posted and wondered if you had ever wanted more counters main deck during the tournament. Not necessarily PoN, but just in general. How useful has wipe away been compared to a rushing river/echoing truth?Quote:

But But he has trickbind. You really need an impulse main. Trickbind shouldn't really ever be boarded in because you need the cunning wish to tutor the card to stifle whatever you need instead of hoping to draw it with the cantrips.Quote:

I have been playing this deck since July. I prefere the original version but sometimes the firemind's verson with Impulse, Flusterstorm, Intuition MD seems better (D n T, discard decks). My question is: what is the proper strategy against very fast decks: berserk infect, storm, oops all spells?
