One rumored card is pretty funny:

Counter target spell. Remove that spell from the game, then search that spell's controller's hand, library, and graveyard for all copies of that spell and remove them from the game. Then shuffle that player's library.
Note: wording is rough, but you get the idea.
Not sure if it's all hat playable outside of maybe a 2-of in T2, but it sure strikes me as funny, since so many people bitched about Extirpate being the ultimate card ever, etc.
5 mana is like, um, a whole lot of fucking mana when it doesn't even affect the board. If printed as you've described, this would qualify as the set's "overcost counterspell with an insane effect -- that no one will play away from their kitchen table." (See also, Last Word, Commandeer, Time Stop and a dozen others.)
Its Quash for an extra mana that can hit anything. And we know how much play Quash saw.
Man, if that's a real card it's horrible. Five mana is way too much. I would say no play at all for it.
This is like gifts GIVEN but not as good.

Barring weird stuff, Legacy players have gotten 2-3 cards per set, and that's good enough for me. At least it's better than not getting anything at all, or getting a shitload of things at the same time. This way, I can actually get all the cards, instead of not getting them due to them not being printed, or too many printed at the same time and not having enough money to throw away for magic all at one time.
Shadowmoor looks good enough so far from the spoilers. I might have to shell out a bit more than the recent couple of sets. But overall, it looks very cool.
About the 5 mana counterspell. Yeah, every set has an overcosted but cool counterspell it seems. I seem to remember it started from Spelljack. It's pretty useless, and it doesn't even work in EDH. Boo :(

Anyway, Shadowmoor is looking decent-fantastic from a creature standpoint. Non-creature spells??? Mostly "meh", a couple "interesting, but probably not playable", and that's pretty much it so far...
Basically the only use is for blue decks which for whatever reason don't want to splash for it. I don't know if that's ever correct, but if it is, it's a legitimate use. Though you may just want to stick with Quash anyways, as Loam is the one card you really care about. See also: Skybus thread.Quote:

This 8 mana 5/5 elemental , semi-smallpox card is going to be a bomb in limited if you're drafting red and/or black.
I dunno...8 mana seems pretty steep...Maybe in multiplayer, as The Ferret suggested.
If you reach 8 mana, that is. R/B in shadowmoor seems like an archtype taht does not like to see late game. I might just pick some bomb uncommon over it.Quote:
