6 Spheres is too many. Look at Chalice as a two of.
I really don't like Chalice of the Void as a sideboard option...it hurts a lot our 1-mana drop (that are like 10/12 post board), it is ok that stops StP or all cantrip, but also deny our tutors and our ability to make mana advantage with Exploration/Manabond...
I know that the majority of people play them, but I find them very painful and not useful as they could be...I'm very good with 6 spheres postboard right now, also due to metagame
On Zero it hurts Storm, on one it does nothing to us once we are dredging. (normally anyway.) Yes it stops Rotation and Gamble. But if you cast them early your gold. Also there are many a deck I would trade my speed and tutors to wholesale shut them down.
What do you think of gigapatrick's "transformational" sideboard? He lately uses:
4 Chalice of the Void
3 Sylvan Library
2 Choke
2 Sphere of Resistance
4 Krosan Grip
When he boards in the Chalices he boards out all the 1 drops but the Explorations, which you cast at the beginning of the game, and he adds the Sylvan Libraries as a consistency engine in place of the tutors, and as a non-graveyard dependent alternative advantage engine. Against Storm, he has higher probability to have a CoV in the first 7 and he plays a total of 6 artifact hate anyway. It's especially good against Miracles (Sylvan Library is great against them, also huge total number of must-counter) and Tempo. Seems very reasonable to me.
I love everything in it, but I wouldn't play less than 4 sphere right now. Maybe if ANT cools off 2 spheres could be OK, but chalice is not a trump to storm. Sphere actually inhibits them from casting their spells, chalice still allows the cast to happen which adds to the storm count + only counters 1 suite of fast mana (0, 1, or 2). I doubt 2 is ever a number you would ever want to set your chalice to but that's a different matter. I played 4 sphere and 2 chalice at an IQ last weekend and placed second over all. I played against ANT twice and would not have won either match without 4 spheres. Otherwise this board looks awesome, I'd try it at a local if I had the libraries.
Congrats on the second place at the IQ. That's awesome.
On the topic of the "transformational" board and Chalice of the Void more specifically (since I feel like I should contribute):
Sylvan Library has impressed me immensely and I don't think it'll be leaving my board anytime soon. Keep in mind, though, I'm playing in the MTGO meta where you have to face Miracles every third match. Library probably doesn't come in as much when you're facing Delver all the time (but then, we shouldn't be wasting board slots for Delver). Recently, in a Channelfireball article on Miracles, Reid Duke said of Library: " This is the one card in the entire Legacy format that I least want to see. I almost never beat it." I want this card in my deck, and even after I've made the distinction between the online and paper metas, I'm planning on finding real copies of Library to play in paper.
Chalice of the Void also feels very strong. I want to keep testing it. My greatest fear with the card is not that it isn't good enough against Storm. I think that it is. I've found that against Storm you either need two pieces of artifact hate to lock them out of the game, and any combination of Chalices and Spheres of Resistance will do, or that you need one piece to slow them down long enough for you to make a fast combo, in which case Chalice on one is probably good enough about as often as Sphere of Resistance. A good Storm player can beat either one by its lonesome, either by going off with Cabal Rituals in the case of Chalice or with Lion's Eye Diamond in the case of Sphere. My main fear with Chalice is that by playing it I'm losing out on Gamble and Crop Rotation. This is where I need to focus my attention when I continue testing.
In any case, these are my thoughts, and I suggest trying everything out for yourselves.
This was a good idea, worth trying. Sylvan Library is also a card we should try out? 'Free' Sensei's divining top every turn, rearrange the drawstep-card, translate life into cards (sords to Plowshares on token equals more carddraw). Fetchland & tutor cards shuffle away non wanted cards
Sylvan Library, Manabond and three Loam. Living the dream.
Personally, while I think the idea is cute, I am not sure I would play the card myself.

Godspeed.
3-0 had to slay one of our brothers :( it was my mirror cherry.
I am going to crash out (it's 7 am) but good luck to you and I hope to wake to pleasent news.
4-0 beat reanimator. Crop rotation does work. Marit lage op.
5-0 jund. Punished him with his 2 dark confidants. Punishing fire op. Having a blast here y'all
I fucked up and didn't call a judge on a cheating opponent. It was a painter servant deck so I lose to that anyway. 5-1
Still in it y'all! 6-1 beating dredge. Bog game is strong today.
I beat storm(ANT) 2-0. 7-1 Bog is an all star today. They were newer to storm as a deck and the dweeb didn't realize spell mastery needs a graveyard. Whoops. Day 2 here I come
Volcanic Fallout wins the game against double Bloodmoon after Brand draws too many cards. Sick.
That was a fucking sweet way to win. The fist bump was well deserved.
You guys keep winning over there. When I do next months update I want to be able to put us in it.
Oh wauw! Keep it goin', guys!
No, my board is really fucking odd because of local pressures. It is heavy on grave hate.
It was not so much to deal with Bloodmoon in the game as it was a (as far as I can tell) an increase in the burn in the deck. There was nothing I saw that would lead me to think there where cards in the opponents deck (Sneak) that could be killed by it. What it did do though is increase the reach against someone drawing off of Griselbrand. That is what happened and the outcome was beautiful to behold.
I might be wrong in my reading of the situation, but if that was the plan, Barcode is much better at planing ahead than I am.
Just saw the blip in the twitch stream of the GP when a Lands player beat Owen Turtenwald on Sneak and Show with Volcanic Fallout. Did someone say that was Barcode? If so, congrats to Barcode on the steal. Sweet.
I believe there is 12 total Lands decks in Day 2, know how anyone is doing?
I have a question and i point of discussion I suppose, I'm testing the deck with Rifstone Portal and only one Manabond right now, but never feel soo good with this only one Manabond...is it necessary or can be taken away for something different?
I'm not feeling satisfied with only one, never impresses me like the 2-copy one, and the Portal is good for me (it allows lots of different things that i'm not going to explain cause you know very well).
What is your idea on this point? Has anyone ever thought about it and remove the single Manabond?
Lets open a discussion on this...
This deck is really good and evolve every week, i'm very happy to be part of this community
Ive been testing Riftstone for a Manabond and it hasn't been too bad. However if you are wanting to run 2 Manabond and the Riftstone, its really up to what your meta is like. You could probably cut, Ghost Quarter, 1 Thicket, 1 Punishing Fire. Its really dependent on what your meta is like, and what you yourself is comfortable with. Just try cutting different things and see what you yourself like :)
Also Lands is on Camera vs Shardless at the GP! Go Lands!
Now we have Lands vs Aluren...exiting MU in my opinion...
My question is different...I've already cut one Manabond to include Riftone Portal (just see the power of the card in feature match area)...but my question is: is the single manabond still a good choice maindeck? Or it can be cut for other cards?
Anyone know when and where any of the matches will be archived? I wasn't able to catch day 2 at all and I'm curious to see this volcanic fallout incident. I don't see how it's so good and it's never even occurred to me to include it in the side.
It's on twitch, the time stamp can be found on the Seatac thread.
Also us v 4c Delver in the finals. Yes!
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
I will enjoy writing next month's DTB announcement.
That should end the talk of lands being worse in a meta without Dig.
I heard jarvis mention that the miracles matchup is slightly unfavorable, how are the combo matches? Reanimator, S&T, ANT, high tide? Also, how is the D&T matchup?
His SB only had 6 cards dedicated to Combo 2 cotv and 4 sphere of resistance. Is that really enough to deal with combo?
