i like your taste, deck looks sexy overall. It'll look better with a foil canonist and Unlimited Plateaus.
my 2 cents.
@Grymer, really nice deck! Pimpness aside, why are you running SoFI when it drops off when you play Painter's on Blue?
haha spot on XD.. havent thought of that yet (havent testet it).. going to play it to night il change that sofai to solas ;)Quote:

(sorry, the scanner cut off everything that was wider than the 3 cards on the bottom, but you still can recognize any card)
@ Markers
This is by far the most amazing collection I have ever seen.
The Sacrifice & Nevinnyral Disk are just awesome.
EDIT: And what are the cards with their back mentionning "13+" on the first picture you posted?
Got some new stuff in today...
Some additional Alphas for the signed Alpha set

Getting signed Greg Staples cards is always nice!

and some random stuff (you can't have enough City of Brasses)...

The second sig on the Disk is Larry Niven (hurray! Second one!)
Nevinyrral = Larry Niven
He is a famous Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror writer that WoTC loved when they first invented magic.
Markers, Generally what is the reasoning behind not having particular cards signed? Is it because the artist does not sign cards any longer. For example you are missing a couple Quinton Hoover and Tom W. cards in in your Beta set. Can you not just send them the cards to get signed? Also Does Cornelius B. sign cards?
Thanks, I'm just curious in your process. The signed sets look amazing. Nice work.
Also, just pulled the trigger on a Beta Lotus today.....
I've never seen a signed Stasis. That woman must be dead or ashamed.
The reason that the Beta set is not 100% signed is simple: I am not finished yet (the project is on going).
I know 2 people that have a complete signed AQ set. I haven't met anyone with another complete signed set.
There are two reasons:
a) It's bloody hard work.
b) Getting cards signed is a niche hobby for the majority of people.
A lot of artists in early sets just don't sign anymore (Daniel Gelon / Quinton Hoover / Cornelius Brudi). Finding people who have that specific card AND are willing to let it go is insanely difficult.
Others attend maybe 1 convention a year (Anson / Mark P / Rich Thomas) if you're lucky.
Finding out if certain artists like Kev Brockschmidt, Andi Rusu or Fay Jones are still alive and would be willing to sign some Magic cards took a lot of persuasion, luck (found a guy that had a complete Fay Jones signed collection...same with Daniel Gelon) and time and was not done in 1 google query or 1 email.
Mark Tedin, Dan Frazier or Ron Spencer are the easy ones. They sign everything, are very nice guys and have a fairly quick turn around. But they are in the vast minority (when talking about the sets of the 90's).
edit: Congrats on the Lotus!
Not many out there. Apart from P3K-cards possibly one of the hardest sigs to get.
and since it's the pimp thread:

AP / Beta / UL
RV/ 4th / 5th
That was the first batch I bought back then
Markers,
Thanks for the insight into the type of effort you've had to put forth to acquire your collection. I find this part of the "pimp" thread as equally interesting as looking at sweet rare cards. I don't spend my time, money or effort on tracking down a lot of these things, so until the backstory is told I don't have a full appreciation for the pimpness.
Well done.
Huge respect for your collection Markers. You really bring out the essence of 'collecting' in this CCG/TCG.
Hope you will complete your entire playsets soon!!
Thanks guys!
Here is some stuff I got today.
The Hall of Gemstone or the Silhouette are perfect examples why I collect signed cards. Both cards are junk and 99.99% of the Magic population don't care about them. But having them signed (or the Silhouette altered by Kaja) makes them special and very sought after (by me at least).

Amy Weber is back in action ... She had quite a laugh when I asked about the alter for the mask. I like the result. It's small and funny
