If sneaky show is in your meta, then maindeck at least 1 pithing needle over a 2nd candelabra, and go to 3 surgical extractions over 3 iona. Any deck running intuition loses to surgical + counters.

Rock,
I have a question regarding your sideboard plan. What do you take out for the 14 cards you bring in against omni halls? I figured the 4 crop rotations and the 4 repeals seems obvious, but that leaves 6 more cards. I noticed you kept show and tell in post board on camera (much to the confusion of the commentators), but it's clear that you they 100% hose omni halls with Iona. I'd love to hear your strategy.
Cheers!
I take out almost all the land-tutor (8 cards), and against omni the titans, koz, ulamog, although ulamog I am still debating.
Much harder sideboarding decisions are when I want ot keep in crop rotates, and when I do that I usually am siding out show and tells or trinket mage/candelabras. The sideboarding is entirely matchup dependent.
I feel like Iona is a better choice overall so I'll go with that :) You are right with the Surgical plan, one problem I can see against Sneak Show are the Blood Moons if he can manage to resolve one, only Repeals can kill it.
I will retest this deck again after our Majors this Sunday.
I am just curious to how you misplayed on the last SCG. Is it because you went aggressive with trying to cast Emrakul while having 2 Fows? Then not having enough mana to cast the 2nd Fow? And the better play would be to wait a little so you can counter with Both Fows and the Emrakul? Is that the misplay?
I am glad you are active again here on the forums, you kind of disappeared for a while.
Got into the Top 4 at a local Legacy Event yesterday. 40+ players were at the event, and I ran the following list:
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmerpost
4 Vesuva
4 Tropical Island
4 Misty Rainforest
2 Island
1 Karakas
1 Eye of Ugin
1 Glacial Chasm
1 Bojuka Bog
4 Brainstorm
4 Repeal
4 Show and Tell
4 Crop Rotation
4 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Expedition Map
2 Candelabra of Tawnos
4 Primeval Titan
2 Trinket Mage
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
1 Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
SB:
1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
3 Mindbreak Trap
3 Iona, Shield of Emeria
4 Flusterstorm
4 Force of Will
The above list is identical to Jeremiah's except for the following changes:
MB
-1 Island
+1 Bojuka Bog
SB
-1 Bojuka Bog
+1 The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
The reason being Dredge is still a thing in our local meta, so I felt more comfortable having the hate in the main deck. Also, Canadian Thresh and other aggro decks were making a comeback, so I felt I needed the Tabernacle just to slow the game down a bit for them.
My matchups were as follows:
Round 1: Won vs. Esper Deathblade 2-1 (Ulamog on Detention Sphere released Emrakul from his aether prison)
Round 2: Won vs. MUD 2-1 (Force of Will on Chalice for 1 FTW!)
Round 3: Lost vs. Shardless BUG 1-2 (Liliana brings home the bacon... No Repeals, FML!)
Round 4: Draw vs. Dark Maverick 1-1 (Because I was a huge idiot and made a misplay at a critical time)
Round 5: Won vs. Nic Fit 2-0 (People sometimes forget Ulamog is Indestructible... I lost to someone's Gilded Drake before because of that)
Round 6: Won vs. Canadian Thresh 2-1 (My opponent mulled to 5 cards on the 3rd game, and only had a 1/1 Nimble Mongoose as his threat)
After 6 rounds of Swiss, I was ranked #5.
Quarterfinals: Won vs. Ad-Nauseam Tendrils 2-1 (Show and Tell Iona. 'Nuff said.)
We split the prize at Top 4 since people were basically tired and hungry at that point. Brought home a Volcanic Island for my trouble.
Moving on, I kind of miss not having Pithing Needle, particularly against Liliana of the Veil. So I plan to test the following changes in the main deck for next time:
-1 Candelabra of Tawnos
-1 Expedition Map
+2 Pithing Needle
A local shop had a day full of 8-man single-elimination flights but since everybody wanted mainly to draft Modern Masters, they launched only one Legacy flight, which I won with Eldrazis.
Pretty much Rock Lee's list -Brainstorms/+ Pithing Needles and the mandatory Bog in maindeck. Against heavy pressure I have always wanted a cheaper creature to tutor for with Eye of Ugin so I had a single, additional Steel Hellkite. It was solid but still probably unneccessary.
Finally I got some solid games going. I don't feel comfortable anymore playing without the needles unless the meta would be known and Wasteland-free - meaning pretty much never.
hi, im new in this forum.
1. sorry for my realy bad english, i hope u can understand what i want to ask.

now my question. how are ur boarding plans vs.
RUG, Tempo BUG, Shardless BUG, Gobo, Jund, reanimator, and special vs tes u name black with iona? u board iona?
hope u can understand what i want

Slightly different for storm. You take out chasm and karakas. You can keep in the repeals against builds that run chrome mox and infernal tutor, drop non-blue lands.
The most important aspect to beating storm is simply to not lose. Not to win. Going for a win is when you will lose. So be sure you're definitely winning.
After some extensive testing and tournaments I am convinced that this meta with abrupt decay and omni dominating is the best meta ever for Eldrazi.
The worst meta for the deck is one wasteland saturated, including recursion, and many varied viable combo decks.
The sideboard can't cover all those holes effectively, so you had to make exceptions, hence why the deck had "unwinnable" matchups for awhile, (elves, MUD).
Now though, the hate for omni splashes sufficiently for random aggro. If omni becomes more dominant, than show and tells and force of wills can be swapped in MD vs SB, but the deck is disgustingly powerful now. More than it ever had been.
Wasn't the golden age of Eldrazzi the Miracles era? :p
I agree on 12 Post being back on the map again with a lower Jund count and Shardless BUG being 50-50
I finished first in a local ~20 person tournament. 5+1 rounds, no top 8.
R1 Tinfins 2-0
R2 Canadian threshold 2-0
R3 UB Tezzeret 2-1
R4 BUG delver 2-0
R5 UR delver 0-2
R6 Deathblade 2-0
Maindeck:
4 Cloudpost
4 Glimmerpost
4 Tropical Island
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Vesuva
2 Island
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Glacial Chasm
1 Karakas
1 Eye of Ugin
4 Crop Rotation
4 Repeal
4 Show and Tell
4 Primeval Titan
3 Expedition Map
3 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Pithing Needle
2 Candelabra of Tawnos
2 Oblivion Stone
2 Trinket MAge
1 Emrakul
1 Kozilek
1 Ulamog
1 Steel Hellkite
sideboard:
4 flusterstorm
4 mindbreak trap
2 oblivion stone
1 tabernacle at pendrell vale
1 blue elemental blast
1 grafdigger's cage
1 cursed totem
1 venser, shaper savant
Steel Hellkite is a bit odd. I wanted a cheap target for Eye of Ugin, but it's most likely unneccessary. The Helsinki meta is rich in Wastelands so 3 Pithing Needles main.
The deck was a blast, as always. You can quite frequentily just play yourself out of a tight spot even when it looks really bad.
I have always played with 3 tops and 2 Trinket Mages. It is hard to evaluate the difference between 3 and 4 copies without extensive testing.
If you are mostly playing against slower control decks, a full playset sounds solid. I'm facing more delvers and Wastelands so there's usually not that much time to durdle with top.
Testing a new highly-contentious build after a 0-2 drop at SCG Worcester. I've never not made top 64 or better at a SCG, so that was an eye opener that I need to have avenues of play for outlier situations.
I normally don't present my coarse-builds, but a Very vague initial build is as follows:
// Lands
4 [MR] Cloudpost
1 [WWK] Eye of Ugin
4 [TSP] Vesuva
4 [SOM] Glimmerpost
4 [R] Tropical Island
3 [M12] Island (4)
1 [LG] Karakas
1 [IA] Glacial Chasm
4 [ZEN] Misty Rainforest
// Creatures
4 [M12] Primeval Titan
1 [ROE] Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
1 [ROE] Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
1 [ROE] Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
3 [FUT] Venser, Shaper Savant
3 [EVE] Glen Elendra Archmage
// Spells
4 [CHK] Sensei's Divining Top
4 [UL] Crop Rotation
3 [ZEN] Expedition Map
4 [IA] Brainstorm
4 [GP] Repeal
2 [ME4] Candelabra of Tawnos
// Sideboard
SB: 4 [US] Show and Tell
SB: 3 [CMD] Flusterstorm
SB: 3 [ZEN] Mindbreak Trap
SB: 1 [ME3] The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
SB: 1 [WWK] Bojuka Bog
SB: 3 [ME] Force of Will
What was the metagame? Why the sudden change to a slower deck?
I swapped the repeals out and have been testing a x3 dedicated anti-aggro/knight-bob-delver card that doesn't lose to abrupt decay. The pickings are slim. Sofar I've been testing cyclonic rift and simic charm, but I'm open to ideas. Next best idea is submerge.
Well with the shows back in, the deck lost very little speed. But the x6 control creatures in are a response to omni. This way game 1 isn't an auto-win for them, as both are major nucences.
The testing sofar has mostly been against the remainder of the field, as the omni matchup drastically improved from <5% to ~40% game 1, and >90% g2/3.
The other matchups, specifically delver, have suffered tremendously. I'm close to considering running abrupt decay myself and finding black somewhere. I also have just running dark depths combo somewhere in the 75, possibly in this slot. Still not sure.
