Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
So... I'm tinkering with a list at the moment... It's a bit of a mix between regular Rhino Fit and an Abzan Pod Fit list.
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Veteran Explorer
2 Deathrite Shaman
1 Gaddock Teeg
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Reclamation Sage
1 Eternal Witness
1 Orzhov Pontiff
1 Tireless Tracker
1 Bone Shredder
3 Siege Rhino
1 Meren of Clan Nel Toth
1 Sigarda, Host of Herons
1 Grave Titan
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Path to Exile
3 Pernicious Deed
4 Green Sun’s Zenith
3 Birthing Pod
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Windswept Heath
2 Marsh Flats
1 Bayou
1 Savannah
1 Scrubland
2 Forest
2 Swamp
2 Plains
2 Phyrexian Tower
It basically just takes the regular gameplan of disrupt and destroy and augments it with the Birthing Pod vicegrip if it goes long. In lieu of Abrupt Decay I went with both QPM and Reclamation Sage to solve certain problem cards. In some cases you'd rather loop QPM w/ Meren, in others you'll want to Pod Reclamation Sage into Meren (or Siege Rhino etc.). I plan to test it in a week or 2.
I tried to cram an Eldrazi Displacer in there for some insane value grinding but I don't know if it's worth the effort. I'd probably take out another Siege Rhino and the Tireless Tracker to fit in a Wastes and the Displacer. This'd allow you to blink a creature every turn when using Meren wouldn't be an option (b/c opposing DRS and opponents with at least half a brain).
It's thinkable one'd want to fit a SFM + some equipment into the deck but I just wouldn't know what to cut.
The build probably does fine vs. a lot of fair decks but doesn't help much vs. Miracles. Don't know if it's an improvement over regular Rhino Fit (or Walk the Rhino Fit).
Another list that might do some work vs. Miracles:
1 Dryad Arbor
4 Veteran Explorer
3 Deathrite Shaman
1 Qasali Pridemage
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Eternal Witness
1 Courser of Kruphix
1 Tireless Tracker
4 Siege Rhino
1 Sigarda, Host of Herons
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Path to Exile
3 Pernicious Deed
4 Green Sun’s Zenith
2 Diabolic Intent
1 Garruk Relentless
1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
1 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
1 Sorin, Grim Nemesis
4 Windswept Heath
4 Verdant Catacombs
2 Marsh Flats
1 Bayou
1 Savannah
1 Scrubland
2 Forest
2 Swamp
2 Plains
2 Phyrexian Tower
My regular build -2 Painful Truths, -1 Meren of Clan Nel toth, +3 assorted combat walkers (rather than multiple Tireless Trackers).
If you happen to run into both baby Sorin and Big Sorin, just ultimate baby Sorin to death, drop Big Sorin and start the slaughter.
I might want to fit in a Big Elspeth (Sun's Champ), but I don't want to cut a Siege Rhino (or anything else).

Turn 1 DRS into T2 Explorer + Intent, searching for a good walker T3 is definitely strong.
Between Cabal Therapy and Phyrexian Tower I believe that sometimes Intent wont find a creature to sac. Ofc with your token-walkers that wont be a problem, but the way to the walkers leads over Intent often I guess.
Did you test the list? Did you have said issue?

I've yet to test the list. Hopefully I'll get to that in a week or two too. I'll make sure to test your suggestion too, I'm very fond of Tracker (and turning Siege Rhino into a 3 mana GSZ'able creature is less of a problem than turning it into a non-GSZ'able 6 mana card).
By the way, don't forget there're 8 fetchlands you can also turn into a creature (Dryad Arbor) for Diabolic Intent as well. The list plays a virtual 26 creatures, Walker-related stuff excluded .
Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
Has anyone had experience with Garruk, Apex Predator? I've been considering one in the SB for the Miracles MU.

Some of the new spoilers have potential. Emerge just screams sac outlet for us which could bring back Meren builds so maybe there's something good there.
The new white card, Blessed Alliance could be playable. Instant speed edict, some degree of selection, and additional modes if you need a mana sink.

If we get any good, big Emergers in the right colour I'm revisiting Fierce Empath and (or, since just Fierce Empath also is Emerge cost minus 3) Tasigur/Gurmag Angler! I so hope this is going to happen.
I did see Thalia's Lancers. Screams value & Birthing Pod.
@Julian: That list explains so much. Very hardcore to not run Abrupt Decay/Path to Exile/Pernicious Deed, OMG. Not even I had the guts to think of something that crazy.
@Dayv, if you happen to read this: Why Minister of Pain over Orzhov Pontiff?
Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
Talking about spoilers, would it be crazy to get mildly hyped for a new decent Sigarda? That Voltron angeldrazi references her in the flavour text if I'm not mistaken.

Dragonlord Dromoka has been suggested as good 6cmc in the past.

I would change the manabase a bit, you're going to have to pick what you want, but with your current setup Wooded Foothills can't get you untapped white mana until you have 2 basics down. If you instead run Bloodstained Mire you can get your Godless Shrine for white and Overgrown Tomb for black. The downside being that Dryad Arbor gets worse and you'll have fewer pain free sources of T1 green.
If you want to spend mana, Tracker is great at doing so.
I would also cut 1 land, 22 works pretty well and go up to 61 because having an extra tutor target makes green sun's MUCH better.
I would go for Surgical Extraction over Extirpate as well.
Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
I'm going to devote some time today to testing sideboard options for Eldrazi to see what I like in :w::b::g:Fit.
I prefer GSZ-able targets for consistency's sake, but I do play two Diabolic Intents and two Sensei's Divining Tops as well if there's something great that's not a green creature.
So far I've just got Dragonlord Dromoka and Spike Weaver to test. I'm anticipating Dromoka being slow, and definitely anticipating Weaker getting Dismembered, Warping Wailed after two Fogs, or just buying me three turns without me finding an Eternal Witness to recur it.
I haven't seen or thought of anything so far that blows me away, so everyone tell me what you've been doing so I can add it to the list.

Woodland Bellower!

I'm hoping for something good too. Hooting Mandrills is another consideration as a Delve creature, we have options at 5, 6, and 7 on the curve.
That said, I'm prepared to be disappointed as well. I'm hoping for something small though where we can sacrifice Veteran Explorer to the Emerge, but in hindsight that wouldn't work for the trigger to also pay costs unless there's some rules trickery I'm not aware of. DRS is good for 2 points on Emerge though.

It would be nice but Sigarda was just in SoI and she wasn't very good. If you're looking for a silver lining though, Sigarda being the last remaining angel is in a pretty good spot to be one of the flagship cards of a third Innistrad block if we ever get one.

The Vista is my choice over Temple Garden. I rarely need green and white early in the game. At least, that's what my limited testing has revealed. For going to 61, should I just add a six drop? Do most Nic Fit lists do this? As for Woodland Bellower, it actually seems sweet. Maybe I'll try it!

Early white, and for that matter black are important for combo. Without early white you can't path a T2 Griselbrand or stop a Marit Lage, and against a deck like Elves you're reliant on only your 2 of Abrupt Decay without white. Vista is fine as a budget card, you just have to make the appropriate adjustments with the mana choosing between 10 vs 14 T1 green or doubling your access to early white.
Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
Should I switch to Temple Garden or Bloodstained Mire?

Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
It's up to you, I think there's a reasonable case for either. Bloodstained Mire allows you to save some life which matters against decks like Burn and Delver and makes you stronger against combo but it also means fewer green sources which leads to more mulligans.
I think the correct answer comes down to a meta call for you. Which is more common where you're playing? Aggressive decks or combo decks that kill with a big creature?
Edit: Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think you can just concede those matches. Your removal always has to get past counterspells anyways and matchups like Reanimator and Lands are already bad. It's probably better to just take the green fetches and make your good/even matchups better. So I take back what I said, Wooded Foothills is fine.
Re: [Primer/Deck] Nic Fit
I'm very intrigued by the enchantment-based build. Is there any advantage to choose that build over a more traditional style build? Does it have certain better matchups (and also worse ones)?
