Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Fitting a Dig in the legends build makes more sense there as that build has other late-game engines besides CB-top. Dig is excellent at assembling karakas/venser/vendilion too, if that is the kinda thing you are into.
Legends builds usually play more "gimmicky" cards as well, letting dig act a little bit as a tutor as well.
You cannot hit a md relic with dig in Philipps build, for one.
Running 4 ponders also makes the digging value of dig less relevant.
Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Went 3-0 today at a local (with the stock 75 ponder build), beating UG Infect (2-1), UWR Legends Miracles (2-1) and Jeskai Pyroforge TC.dec (2-1).
For the first time, ever, I had to mulligan to 4. My 7 was Island, 2x Jace, Entreat and 3x Swords. I thought he was on control, he usually is. Both 6 and 5 I saw 0 lands... that's a first :D
Deck is still insane. I had quite an easy time beating all the decks, tbh, and I punted two of the games I lost, due to laughing and drinking beer. To celebrate, I bought a FBB NM German Tundra.

I wish I could have celebrations like this.

To be fair, I'm selling all my cards I don't need/use anymore, in order to get this (as well as 2 more eventually ^^)
Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Back with my last post from my blog, and decided to end it all with a Legacy De with Miracles:

I'm looking forward to your articles =)! When will the first be online? Any estimation (A)! I have to travel by train 2 hours a day now, and love to read some magic articles!

Hey,
thanks for expressing your anticipation. It means a lot to me!
So, my report from GP NJ should be coming online any day on StarCityGames. I also handed in a (very casual) Vintage article to Eternal Central and right now I'm working on the UWR one, no idea when and where it will be published yet, though.
Greetings

Too bad they didn't come up earlier, planning to defend my legacy champ title tomorrow running your 75; could not have hurt to read one more article :)

Really looking forward to the "primer".
Hope to see if my boarding plan is retarded, by your standards! :)

But as said, it's a big article about UWR, not Miracles only. :)
Once again, thanks for expressing your anticipation! I really hope I can meet all the expectations. :D

What do you mean by behind on cards or difficult card resolves?
I'm trying to get at when there's something that makes assembling Countertop not a solid lock. Aether Vial, Decay + most cards, Liliana, etc. I think my main problem is that the Ponder build is incredibly durdly in comparison to the legends build, and when something happens that doesn't allow me to close out a game just on that, it sucks.
I'm having trouble with figuring out how to win the game just on the back of that and a Jace against some decks, and I'm struggling with closing games out with the deck. If anyone has played both or a lot on the Ponder build and has tips on what I need to do differently against things like D&T, Bug, and Punishing Fire deck, or planeswalker deck, I'd appreciate any insight. I'm much more confident in those matchups with my Vensers and a third Entreat in the board.

Will the primer being mainly miracles and then related strategys explained as well, or UWR in general, with miracles being a small portion, on equal footing with stuff like UWR PyruForge TC.dec and UWR Delver?
Are you considering swapping to another deck, since you'll focus on the entire UWR spectrum?

Ill talk about Patriot, UWR Pyromancer, UWR Stoneblade and Miracles, on an even footing. I don't consider swapping to another deck, as long as I want to win. For the yolo, sure - why not. Additionally: I want to broaden my spectrum of articles/experience/everything in order to be more than "the Miracle Dude" one day. :)
Greetings

It's funny for you to say that. Ein would very likely say the opposite. Not that I can read his mind, didn't he mention Legend build durdle a bit much sometimes back?
In any cases, this is my understanding: let's say you're getting hit by a turn 1 swiftspear along with YP and token early game. You're under tremendous pressure to find a sweeper, or find that Brainstorm to put the Terminus back on top of library. Ponder and Snapcaster can help in achieving that. When you run Legend build, you instead have a Clique, much less helpful in doing so.
I believe what you're saying is the raw power of Legend build, but TheHeff has explained the difference already. With that said, no one is stopping you from running 3rd Entreat in the board in either builds.
Against D&T, it's all academic. Just be aware of the trappy Vial and anticipate how D&T will try to lock your lands (fetch correctly and at appropriate timing to avoid aven mindcensor) at all times. Both lands and Jund use PFire, so I assume you are referring to Jund. Against Jund, just watch out hate cards like Choke. Right now, there's a solid argument for having Kor Firewalker against UR Delver and Jund, you can try that if that's your meta.
Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Hello everyone,I have a question about side-change with Deathblade. My sideboard have 3stoneforge+2batterskull+3blood moon, and I want to change them in,so should I keep counterbalance in my deck?
Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Just look at Cuneo's new control deck posted recently on Channelfireball. His win-cons:
1 Elspeth
1 Jace
3 Snapcaster Mages
In fact, he is not losing a single word on this issue. In fact no control player is losing a word on the win-condition issue:
Alphastryke's win-cons in his gold-digger list:
3 Jace
1 Baneslayer (= removal magnet)
Carsten Kotter:
3 Jace,
2 Stoneforge Mystic
1 Batterskull
This is simply how you do it.

Can we see a list of your 75? My gut instinct is that you don't need it when you have such a high density of bombs already, but 3 Blood Moons is a ton. Make sure you have the tools to not lose once Blood Moon hits. No feeling worse than making it so they can't cast spells and losing to what they have on board because you can't fetch for Terminus.
Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Ran phillips gp list at finnish champs today. Lost in the semis to jund lands.
Really dissapointed I couldn't take back to back titles :(
EDIT: didn't think this deserved a new post, but some of the weirder things that happened in the tournament included:
- angels racing emrakul
- jund lands "almost" got decked (6 cards) at 70+ life
- I lost to double siege rhino drains (he went 5-0-2 with the deck)
- won a game eventually on 1 life against ubg landstill where he drew from 3 landstills and had waste-loam going from turn 4-5. It game down to liliana ultimate splitting jace at 13 vs rest, jace won.
Gotta love legacy :)

Re: [DTB] Miracle Control
Seattle is the first SCG circuit with the new format. There were 3 Miracles in the Legacy top 16.
Kiesel at 16th: Based off Ein's list, -2 Ponder + 2 Clique
I used to run something like his, but not anymore.
Traut at 11th: Based off Ein's list, -1 Jace +1 Snapcaster, -1 Ponder +1 Pyroclasm
I got a feeling he did an audible by moving a Jace to SB.
Bass at 1st: Miracle Blade, I'm still trying to understand how did this list finishing first.
