If Moat is present in your meta then that's a argument that can be made. If not you can do much better on less mana.

Destabilizing you mana base just for Bolt seems bad when you can just run Dismember and keep the stable mana base.
You can also cast Dismember with colorless mana. You never have to worry about having a color cut off which would prevent your removal from being used.
I have 2 flex slots, i don't know if add 2x Spell pierce or 2x Dismember for an unknown meta (I dont run Standstill and 4x TNN)
Any advice? Thanks
Assuming MB? Can you post your entire list? I've been running a single echoing truth MB as a catchall and have been loving it. SB I currently have 2 dismember and 2 Swan Song (over pierce) but i am still testing those numbers and SS in general. i think i want more SS (or SP) over dismember as i am personally more afraid of storm decks than creature ones, and after this last weekend sneak and show.
Sure, this is the list I'm currenylt testing:
13 Island
4 Wasteland
3 Mutavaul
4 Cursecatcher
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Master of the Pearl Trident
4 True-Name Nemesis
3 Meerrow Reejerey
3 Phantasmal Image
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
4 Aether Vial
2 Spell Pierce/Dismember
I cut one Reejerey as I felt I had too mana 3 cmc and that was affecting deck's speed.
I've never run Echoing truth mainboard. It's enough to return something to it's owner hand? I know it's tempo, but at 2 mana... Hmm I don't know
Thank you
Hi
We often talk about the cards we play but not so much how we play them. My friends and I had some debate about it, in particular :
- When and what do you submerge against elfes ?
- What do you usually counter against storm ?
- Would you always counter the vial against D&T ?
I wanted thoughts before going back to my original legacy deck
4 True Name Nemesis
4 LoA
4 Master
4 Image
4 Silver Gill
4 Curse Catcher
4 Force
4 Vial
4 daze
3 Pierce
1 Jitte
13 Island
3 Mutavault
4 Wasteland
1 Pierce
4 Submerge
4 Tidebender Mage
3 Relic of Progen
2 E truth
1 Flusterstorm
vs green decks:
- 4 force
- 4 daze
- 3 Pierce
+ 4 submerge
+ 4 tidebender
+ 3 Relic
vs combo
- 4 tidebender
- 1 Jitte
- 2 Image
+ 1 pierce
+ 1 fluster
+ 2 etruth
+ 3 Relic
vs control on play: nothing
on draw:
- 4 daze
+ 2 etruth
+ 1 pierce
I wouldn't completely cut Reejereys. I have the feeling Engineered Plague and Golgari charm would be played more often, and against those cards we always want a lord on the board.
Specially if you are running 4 Images, which best target is TNN, you're exposing too much to Golfari charm/Plague.
That's my thoughts after some games against Shardless. I ended fearing Charm a lot.
As stated above, Merrow Reejerey is really good against the -1/-1 hate people might sideboard against us. It's also another reason to bring Aether Vial to 3 counters. And it helps with the clock.
This is the list I'm running:
13 Island
4 Wasteland
4 Mutavault
4 Æther Vial
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Master of the Pearl Trident
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Phantasmal Image
4 True-Name Nemesis
3 Merrow Reejerey
4 Cursecatcher
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
I am having trouble why a deck of 2/2's are worried about Golgari Charm?
4 images are an obivious “Tnn-creep” choice. Such configulation has worse synergy with every other merfolk, except Tnn. I would never cut reejery for that.
Copying Master, Lord, or Slivergil are all quite good plays with Image. If you have four Nemesis, then that makes sixteen targets for your deck. I wouldn't play four myself, just because you could easily gets hands, or draws, that just consist of image, catcher, and nemesis.
I tested a 4x TNN, 4x Image list against RUG Delver a bit today. The Images were never bad. The TNNs were usually pretty good. At the very least they shut down Goyfs. Delver beats + Lightning Bolts is still a problem but that's nothing new.
Who knew that, if you play merfolk in a field where everybody plays combo deck, have no Supreme Verdict and plays no creatures, fish would win Vintage Championship?
Congrats to Mr. Lim.
