Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Yeah but it's not the same without the audio. I thought that cap summed up Commando pretty well. I've got a 4 barreled rocket launcher, there are like 9 dead hispanics behind me and a burning jeep, I'm coming to find you in your mansion and fucking destroy you, then I'm going to kill Bennett, rescue my daughter and bang Rae Dawn Chong until my dick falls off.
Doom rules.

Going third person and all caps.

I love when this whole "what is pimp" talk comes up.
The post by sauce just made me chuckle. "Most "pimp" is not subjective. What people like is subjective. There is a level of "pimp" that is/can be agreed on by majority of players."
Everything is subjective. Even if you have the money to get whatever you want. Eventually you'll come to a point where everything is just cardboard that has cash signs on it. Thankfully I've hit this point. no attachment.
Love the Arnold mat, Sean. Baller.

It's like saying Ferrari is subjectively (vs objectively) more "pimp" than a Nissan 350Z. It is not. It is in fact objectively more "pimp".
Just like with cars, in magic, there is a certain level of PRESTIGE or what some may call "pimp". While you can only afford some level of "pimp", you may have a bias towards it since its all you can afford.
A lot of people fall into this type of thinking. "What I can afford is prettiest TO ME". They tend to ignore the other (more pimp) options because they cant afford them.
This leads to the thinking that "pimp" is subjective.
Here is a guide that I think a lot of people can agree with.
Basics (in level of prestige):
Summer > Guru > Arabian Nights Mountains > Foil Unhinged > Beta > Apac/Euro/etc. > FBB > MPR > Foil Zendikar > etc.
Duals:
Summer (mostly unattainable but here as a placeholder) > Beta > Alpha > FBB > Unlimited > Revised
Fetchlands:
Original Onslaught Foil > Zendikar Foil > Original Onslaught > Original Zendikar > Judge Foil
All other cards:
Beta/Alpha (if available) > Original art black border (ie: Kird Ape) / Foreign version (korean, etc) > Original Foil (STP/Wasteland) All languages > Original non foil black border (Karakas, Dreadnought, Show & Tell) > Judge foil > FTV foil> White border
Unsigned vs Signed card
This one is the only truly subjective category IMO. Some dealers do not like them, some do like them. Some people consider signed cards "destroyed" and/or "ugly". Others covet them.
I will not rate them because of that.
Same with altered cards.
Edit:
Added FTV foils
If I disagree with you because I like English foils more than anything else, does that make your post invalid? What is nice for some, may not be nice for others. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. "Pimp" magic cards are subjective to each individual. Some people will share preferences, some won't. Every category is subjective; no "If's" "And's" or "But's" about it.

People who've watched Commando and think it worked due to Arnie instead of the legend that is John Bennett have missed the point tbh :)
Anyone knows of a place which carries these now? Need a couple more of the black ones.

Was bored. Bought a box of russian journey into dicks. Did not get $120 worth of cards. Not shocked. Still got some playable stuff.

I wonder about Chinese Tempest print runs, I've gotten ahold of multiple Korean starters over the past 4-5 years but rarely see Chinese. Tempest may have been Hong Kong and Taiwan only and a smallish run, but Korean has more "value" so it gets eBayed and MOTLed around a little more.
It also took longer to find 4 Chinese Wastes than to get 8 Korean ones.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
To be fair to your Journey into Nyx box, Russian Mana Confluence is the only Russian version of "City of Brass" that is available isn't it? If so, the all Russian dredge/storm/whatever else players may actually be able to drive the Russian ones up kinda high. Also Russian Master of the Feast is sick. I kinda want some.
-
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Well it's a shitrag aesthetics wise compared to City of Brass, the art is some fucking random mouse movements and color diarrhea in photoshop ... but in most cases it's the better card, especially in vintage where City in a Bottle is a thing. I am happy with those pulls. I'll need 4 x Korean ones I think for Vintage though because they need to match undiscovereds, but these 2 russian ones should be sufficient for legacy. The fat demon is OK, but it's tough imagining he'll ever be good enough to play ... even with chains out they are looting all the things that neuter his drawback cost more than him (uba mask, lotion-t). True Youthful Knight will get some run and maybe guy who snipes delver all day in cavern of humans.

i agree, i am looking for traditional chinese myself, but it's much easier to spot korean/japanese ones.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
There's a lot of Chinese stuff floating around on MKM but, as an American, its a pain to ask a third party to order a ton of playsets of random Chinese stuff from an equal amount of sellers there.
-
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
i live in HK and the locals here prefer Jap & English cards more than trad Chinese.
done even try to start with simplified Chinese ones :)
actually, even in drafts, English boosters cost more than trad Chinese.
problem here is that the legacy scene is dead, and you'll only see old cards in EDH decks.
everyone's binders is just chuck full of Standard legal cards or EDH staples.
i dont play EDH so I dont know if Wasteland is a staple since I haven't seen a Chinese Wasteland as well.
so in HK, it's Russian (no way to get them here) > Jap / Korean (a bit of preference since it's easier to get Jap cards than Korean ones) > English > trad CHinese > simplified Chinese

It's also painful paying in Euro.

Taipei is much the same, a ton of limited and miserable standard. They were getting EDH going last time I was there, but after taking a fucking beating from my mostly old Clique deck they started the next league as EDH with 'Modern Plus Commander / Planechase Sets'. Failure.
I got a bunch of T-Chinese I had no luck finding in the US whilst I was over there and generally everyone was happy to swap their TC stuff for Engrish.

Curious, are they simply that hard to get signed (I know wasteland is)
-
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Well none of them are going to be state side that I know of at any event. So getting them signed likely involves their representatives, mailing then across the ocean, etc.. Now that a Korean City of Traitors is worth (???) I don't know $200? I'm not going to stick them in a mailer. I could insure them but even if I got the claim ... there are no Korean CoT to buy. See eBay
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_saca...aitors&_sop=16
It's a bunch of jap garbage and english ones ... 1 auction for german and 1 for t-chinese ...

Kev Walker isn't signing via mail and only appears like once or twice a year at a big tourney.
Colin MacNeil...Well, it isn't impossible but a lot have tried and failed...

Hey,
I was wondering if in HK people prefer T-Chinese much more than S-Chinese? In which region use traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese? Also is it hard to find Foil Polluted Delta Simplified Chinese?
Thanks!
