Oh I'm aware. Ral Zarek or Garruk Wildspeaker would be objectively better additions than this new card, if you really wanted to make stasis work.
I figured I'd rather brew that deck than a Knight of the Reliquary combo, but I really like the idea of Goblin Welder with Artifact lands and something like Disciple of the Vault.
Ghost Town + Stasis to finish out the combos.
the metagame is full of Spell Pierce, Pyroblast and Abrupt Decay, Pyroclasm and Terminus.
the only way to make a Stasis list is with Root Maze and Garruk Wildspeaker.
Sterling Grove is also mandatory
In other news, turned out the alleged black enchantment (eldrazi processor) that got The Source riled up, is a fake. This has been confirmed on MtG Salvation.
Are there any cards for legacy in this set? (Except new Ulamog for Eldrazi and maybe 1 or 2 utility lands for Loam-decks? Is Retreat to Coralhelm good enough?)
Not sure if I agree with this. Stasis is best played like Choke, catching someone off-guard after casting a spell. Daze becomes great protection against Pyroblast and Abrupt Decay is likely going to be hard to cast. Even if you manage to cast it, Stasis should be able to draw->go into extra copies of Stasis. That said, I don't think Stasis is viable yet. I wish it was, because it is one epic monster of a card.
There's a bunch of cute possibilities with Emereia Shepard (7 mana landfall / plainsfall return a permenanet from your graveyard to your hand / to play) but you could just cheat Griselbrand into play and win instead.
Ulamog (by virtue of being a fat Eldrazi), Retreat to Coralhelm, and Wasteland Strangler. That's it. Not saying those are going to be played, but if anything does, it'll be them. Everything else doesn't make the cut. Including the lands. All of the lands uninspired and bad, and the ones with activated abilities are overpriced. If you have six mana and an active Loam, there's better things you can be doing.
Thanks for this. I have been wondering and waiting.Quote:

I am not saying this guy is busted, at all, I just look at him and think of how rad it would be if this card were viable, precisely as-is, because I think the control deck that would evolve around it is fairly obvious and so maybe it would be kind of hum-drum and stupid but also, just look at it. It reminds me of a more elegant time in Magic, in a way - your control finisher is dependent not on how much mana you have when you rip it (Entreat the Angels, bluhh) but instead its efficiency is determined by how well you controlled the game before casting it as well as after. Do you need to just make an army and crush? Or do you need to just maybe make one manland and slow roll the opp maintaining tempo? Gah, it's gorgeous. And yet so ineffectual. Life really sucks you guys.
Oh so disclaimer, I guzzled like 1/4 bottle of Nyquil last night because stpid late season allergies turned into a full-blown head cold thing. fml

Looks like this sets version of Ghostfire
As Bohr said, predictions are hard, especially about the future.
That said, the mana costs are high, and the power level is low. Many of the cards in the set are new versions of second rate cards with :1: added to the mana cost, and there's not much in the way of new or unique effects. That's not a good recipe for eternal.
Some marginal stuff like Bring To Light.
Can't be. The entire color of white has not a single remotely playable card at less than 6 mana. I call bullshit, and I'm waiting for the rest.Quote:
