Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
44 or 45 people
When I left Nightmare was 3-0 playing round 4 (MS Paint), same for Peter Rotten (Goyf Sligh). Zach "Two Baskets" Tartell (Ichorid) was 3-1, as was Konsultant (U/W/g/b Landstill).
I went 2-0, then 0-2 with Ravager and decided to head home rather than play for the small chance of being a x-2 that makes it in.
There were a ton of Goyf Sligh/Burn decks (I personally saw 5, there may have been more).
Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
Way to keep it Albany, Matt.
Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
Top 8:
3x Goyf Sligh (Matt P (Peter Rotten) and two dudes neither of whom I have seen before)
Ichorid (Daemon Whitby)(Parcher)
Canadian Thresh (Carl, the guy who top 8'd worlds in Standard and got a Community thread named after him)
UWb(g?) Landstill (Geoff Smelski)(Konsultant)
What's the cure to hiccups? (Dave Elrod)(Freakish777)
Tombstone (Brian Finlaysen-Schuler)(TheBiggestLegacyPlayerAlive)
I'm typing up lists as we speak. Metagame breakdown to follow.
Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
I should also note I savagly misregged my decklist again. Not that it affected me too bad, but that pretty much summed up my day/weekend/week/life.

Wait, I thought it was 'Due to the people who hate decknames that doesn't describe the deck, I've decided to give this lengthy idea as a deckname instead'
Well either way, congrads goes out to both Matt and Dave, and GD I love it when Albany influences the Cuse meta.
Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
Is there anything different about the Ichorid list that T8'd? I want to know before I leave for a tourney, going to play Ichorid as well. My first tourney in years, and representing Team Herbig... Yeah!

Re: 08/30/08 Beta Tropical Island Summer Paradise Event
Congrats to all who top 8'ed and Carl for winning the event. Nicely done.
It was a little emotional at the end as this was my final Legacy tournament before leaving for the service. It was only fitting to have it end with the friends who made it all possible. Hopefully I lived up to being A Legend all these years.
You're all awesome. But when I get back...there'll be hell to pay.

Good luck with everything. Even though I don't think I've ever had the pleasure to meet you, you've been around since before I joined and you've contributed a ton. Again, good luck.
Also, Nick, because it's your list, how is the 3/1 Counterspell/Spike package working out over Fire/Ice? It seems better in the Syracuse metagame at first glance, I remember wanting them a while back at the GAGG.

It was Nick's deck, but Carl's list. If I remember what he told me correctly, it was he cut the Fire/Ice's himself for more counter. Why he didn't just cut 2 more cards and do Counter/Top though is beyond me.
