Curfew works in UW_Tempo because Reanimator sets Iona for White. That wouldn't happen agains't us.
White splash is surely viable. I gues that 2 Tundras would not cause us so many problems. Going to try a few lists.

That game was the most fun i had at the GP. The crucial game error that eventually won me the match was that he thought he was the agressor.
He won game 1. I boarded out reset and tide and hoped he would try to combo during my turn. Twincast and mindbreak trap was the nuts in the game.
I went 4-3 drop. Some of the losses where pretty tight. Drawing blanks when i need to draw cantrips etc in order to win.
Faced ANT and the biggest reason he won against me was that he played Xantid Swarm instead of Silence/chant/etc. With 3 Mindbreak Trap in the board i had more answers against them then xantid.
The biggest reason i won the 4 i won was cause my opponent played bad magic (the solidarity mirror i can understand, he haden't tested for the mirror, and i can play soli mirror just for the sheer fun in it). So right now I'm tinkering with other decks, but think Solidarity can be a very valid deck if just the meta becomes a bit slower and the combo decks are ANT, Belcher etc and not Reanimator.
FoI are the nuts, and I belive i would never play a list without 'em. The synergy with Brain Freeze are just insane, and having a 1U instant thats as good as Demonic Tutor mid combo is insane.
Which blanks were you drawing? I found Solidarity to be much more consistent when you drop FoI for PTD. PTD lets you set up. FoI is completely dead and sure it will usually find you something useful, but I usually draw something useful with PTD as well. I think its a debatable slot in Solidarity.
I'm going to start testing a U/w build of solidarity soon. I know its more vulnerable to wasteland, but Orim's Chant is nuts protection, functioning as a timewalk against aggro. Playing with Remand and Orim's Chant is really attractive to me against aggro. Has anyone had any luck playing a list like that?
Have you tried running Tolarian Winds in the board? It has saved my ass in a countless number of games, especially when your Meditate yields x3 Land and FoW.Quote:
Lands and FoW are the most blank cards you can draw mid combo. But it was a mix of Land/FoW. cantrips when I needed untap and untap when i needed cantrip etc.
How would you guys sideboard look like it you want to dedicate hate to 2 specific matchups: Merfolk and Zoo?
mine is currently like this:
1 Stroke of Genius
1 Brain Freeze
1 Meditate
1 Turnabout
1 Wipe Away
1 Echoing Truth
4 Hydroblast
1 Twincast
1 Rebuild
1 Ravenous Trap
1 Tolarian Winds
1 Mystical Tutor
also, what do you side out agains't those? (I run a list with 2 BF, 2 FoI, 2 Remand, 1 Twincast, 1 Cryptic Command. The rest is standard)
How well have the hydroblasts been? I can imagine they are good against Zoo. I've noticed that most builds have dropped Fireblasts and Hydroblast is great against Fireblast. Remand is great in the Zoo matchup. If I'm on the draw and I have one in hand, I can usually make it to turn 5. I like to keep in my Remands in against Zoo. Also, I haven't had too much luck with mystical Tutor myself. I'm probably going to drop it for something else, most likely for Words of Wisdom. Occasionally there is that game where you need to use Stroke of Genius and then can't make your opponent draw for the win.Quote:

I don't like FoI/Cryptic Command builds against aggro anyway. Thats why I play the build that I do with PTD. Theres only like 2 CB decks in the meta. Is your meta Merfolk/Zoo heavy? I've been running Traps in the board and have yet to drop a match to Merfolk. I've found that PTD builds are also better against Zoo that FoI/Cryptic builds.
Maybe I can cut Command for a 3rd Remand.
I already run 1 Words of Wisdom, but maindeck. In the SB, I'd prefer Visions Skeins, so that the opponent will die even with a Progenitus in the deck.
Blasts are great, since happens to be a lot of goblins here too (and some random burn).
I'll give it a shot at the PtD list (-2 FoI, -1 BF, +3 PtD, or even 4, in the new 3rd Remand? don't know...), is just that FoI is soooooo powerfull, but I'll try it anyway.
I'm thinking of going -1 Mystical, +1 Mindbreak Trap, so against Merfolk I can Tutor it. Sure he will see it, but free counter is free counter.
Thanks.
WOW!
When I had lost all my hopes for the new set (not a single barely-good instant) I check mtgsalvation and see this:
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=235276
The second card. OMG! Is more than I could dream for an instant in a new set, and uncommon!
Maybe it won't be played at the end, but I had so poor hopes for this set...
It's not confirmed in the spoiler yet, but the poster is a respetable one and at this stage of the spoiler season I believe its true.
Edit: Iis not as good as I first thought. To produce mana you need a tide and at least 5 mana. It won't make the cut, but at least is something...
Yea its strictly worse than Turnabout.
One thing did catch my eye though:
Suffer the Past XB
Instant
Exile X target cards from target player’s graveyard. For each card exiled this way, that player loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
It requires a black splash, but its an out to Ichorid instead of a pretty much unwinnable matchup.
Also, I have found that with Tolarian Wind in the board, I'm often able to get +20 mana. We could play this as an alternate win condition in the board, provided we have a black splash. If you can Brainfreeze your opponent for a lot, then play this, its GG.
What else would black bring to the table though?
Extirpate is the only thing I can think of, against Reanimator, IGG, Loam, etc.
EDIT:
It should also be noted that Suffer the past lets us gain life. That could allow us to go off twice (provided we gain enough life to stall a few turns) if we run out of draw, but can't kill with it.
EDIT 2:
Dream Salvage looks pretty good in the Dredge matchup. When Dredge discards a bunch of shit while going off, we could use this to go off in response, drawing shit tons of cards for U. Its probably dead everywhere else though. I can't seem to find any cards that make both players discard so that we could take advantage of it.

Choose one - Tap X target permanents; or untap X target permanents.
playable or not?
Instead of critics (and being solidarity one of the most debated decks but lately no one cares about, and this thread can prove it - only time to time having some activity with the same persons) you can answer by simply giving your (i hope) helpful opinion.
By other words LETS TALK AND PARTICIPATE!
Hoping for some answers ;D Cya
I would really like it to be playable, but I can't think of any plausable situation where it is not strictly worse than turnabout.
Pros: Can tap or untap any kind of permanent, not just creatures or lands. Unfortunately, the only permanents we run are lands, and (generally) the only permanents that we want to tap tend to be our opponent's creatures. The added utility seems wasted in this deck.
Cons: You pay 1 mana per permanent, making the spell very mana hungry compared to the already expensive Turnabout. It might be worth considering if we needed more untap effects, but we don't.
Sadly, this card was very, very close to being playable. If it had cantripped, or had cost XU, it would probably replace Turnabout, but this is simply not the case.
-Silent Requiem
That other card was clearly bad.
What about THIS one?
Or is nobody reading my posts too? >.>Quote:

The question is what we want Solidarity to be.
If we consider that the classic "high tide" is dead we might have the chance to come back with a kind of "Solidarity 2.0". Therefore we must be 1 or 2 turns faster.
Our biggest problem is the lack of heavy blue instants since 3-4 years. So we shouldn't be longer afraid to splash our deck!
There are many possibilities but me must try to stay as monoblue as possible:
Green) I've seen already green splashes for Krosan Grip but as long we have Wipe Away there is no need. Other green useful spells might be some like Tangle because it can stall 2 more rounds.
Black) Many interesting cards in exchange for life but I don't know if we can pay for them every time. It might cost too much fexibility.
White) Great protection cards like Silence or Orim's Chant. Would be nice as a wish target but I guess we can't afford to play them main board.
Red) I never tried to maximize my mana flow but if it's possible to reach 20 mana or more we can play cards like Comet Storm / Volcanic Geyser and we get the possible blue hate and mass removal for creatures.
I personall prefer the red or white splash^^
The trouble is that as the deck currently stands, there is no guarentee that you will have large sums of mana available. Sure, in some games you have more than you know what to do with, but in most you have 4 or 5 floating as you cantrip from card to card.
Of course, there is nothing to stop the deck being rebuilt to change that. However, if I can get the 21 mana needed to turn Suffer the past into a kill card, I could just cast Fireball, or Stroke of Genius, which is in colour. So no, I do not see this card being a valid kill card.
Could it buy us some time? Possibly. But it is effectively dead mid combo, and small/mana innefficient before the combo. You talk about using it against dredge, but frankly I have never had a problem with dredge since they printed Ravenous Trap. Even game 1. So I'm not sure what this card does that we need.
-Silent Requiem
I agree with silent requiem about the black instant, i think in order to be efficient it needs too much mana that about 70% (or maybe more i think) isn't possible.
Solidarity is a deck that is always in the edge of the knife, a little slip and we are completely screwed...
I was thinking about a card from visions called three wishes, what did you think?
My biggest problem nowadays is my sb! I simply can't find a good sb!
Dispel seems good enough because mind combo against blue based decks we allow them to mana ramp so Spell Pierce isn't good and as we start to combo the only possible way to response to it is our opponent play an instant. Divert works sometimes specially against Discard based decks... Dredge and specially Reanimate blows my head off when i try to find some solution for that dam Iona, Slaughter pact is good but i cant kill sb slots to fit more than one, the Ravenous Trap only works at dredge matches, and its only one.
Snap and Echoing Truth are bought good choices against aggro. I start using a second kill spell besides Stroke - Vision skeins - do to that games here we have enormous quantity of mana but few draw spells and we wish for stroke and than finish with Vision.
