At a glance, he shores up the MUD matchup somewhat but I say he's still kinda weak. You don't want to be casting him late game when he could be a Jace or ETA, and early game you don't want to tap out just to cast him.

If you are wondering why no grave hate in SB or blasts main it's due my meta being very fair. Lots of non blue decks.
HI EVERYBODY!!! :P
I just got back from participating in the SCG Chicago Legacy Open event piloting my adaptation of U/W Miracles ending with a record of 3-3-2. I've been piloting this deck within my personal circle for about a year. This past month has been my first experience with competative play outside of my circle. The deck is built mainly around my own personal theories that were based off of watching SCG events:

[QUOTE=Quasim0ff;894676]That's a lot of winconditions. How was the relation between angels and monks, and which would you prefer?
Why 3 jace? BGx decks?[/QUOTE
Honestly, the reason I decided to try 2 mentors main was because I was never seeing entreat enough. I like both for different reasons. In one of the matches against mud mentor stalled the game out long enough for me to win. Where in game 3 of mud I made 5 Angels and won on the spot. I like the mix up of both especially because if you are playing one they don't expect the other. I don't think I would want more than 2 though.
As for Jace, yes. My meta is very fair. Lack of combo and delver. Jace just seals the deal for them.
I like the mix as well. 4 Mentors 1 Entreat for good 3cc playset on for Counterbalance.
Played a modified version of the mentor list to a top 4 finish in a 5 round tournament yesterday. I played the 4th daze and stp as opposed to the 2 MD blasts which I moved to the sb. I also played 2 rest in peace because there our metagame is usually littered by goyfs, dredge, and reanimator.
Round 1 Win 2-1 against Omnitell.
Quickly lost game 1 by way of an eladamri's call for emrakul. Won game 2 with my opponent on a mull to 6 on the back of snapcaster and clique beats supported by soft counters on cantrips while my opponent was light on lands. Then won game 3 with mentor while my opponent was on a mull to to 4 not being able to find show and tell.
Round 2 Win 2-0 against reanimator (teammate that also top'8d the event)
Won game 1 on the play after dazing and double fowing his turn 1 careful study. I luckily draw into a 2nd land to play a snapcaster on his eot. I then draw into top and cb to lock the game. Game 2 I won on the back of some monk tokens and vendilion clique.
Round 3 Win 2-1 against omnitell
Quickly lost game 1 to emrakul. Won game 2 on the back of a turn 2 snapcaster on his endstep while he struggles to find a combo piece. He was able to land a boseiju and cast 2 (that's right) uncounterable dig through time in addition to some other cantrips but he was never able to go off. Won game 3 on the draw with my opponent mulling to 4 or 5 off a clique and snapcaster under counterbalance while my opponent struggles to find show and tell off cantrips.
Round 4 ID against the mirror
Round 5 against Dredge (a teammate, he won the tournament)
Top 8 2-0 win against mirror from round 4
Won game 1 quickly off the back of mentor and some tokens while my opponent floods and was unable to draw business. Won game 2 with mentor again with my opponent mulling to 4. I was able to establish counter top early and then cast mentor. I was able to counter some of his business with counter top. We had a massive war on the stack over a stp on mentor which fueled mentor and some tokens to swing lethal next turn.
Top 4 Lost 2-0 mono W death and taxes (another teammate)
Lost game 1 in a few swings after keeping a 6 card hand with 1 Plains, top, 3 stp, brainstorm. Wasn't able to draw any more lands while my opponent curved into vial, mom, jitte then vial in Thalia , vryn wingmare, flickerwisp. Lost game 2 in a similar manner after mulling a no lander 7 into a tundra and top 6 hander. I decided to mull furthe6as I want at least 2 lands or a way to get basics against his deck. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see any lands until I got to a 3 card hand with 2 arid Mesa and a snapcaster.
The deck was powerful and I felt very much into the game always. This was something I didn't feel using older miracles decks which is why I refused to play it competitively. I actually just built the deck a few days before the tournament so I was iffy with playing it at first, good thing I stuck with it as the tournament had a lot of miracles and combo decks which was perfect for the list. Mentor was a beast all the day as expected. I'll definitely be rocking these in future tournaments.
Will keep you guys posted.

I played against Grixis Delver (2-1), ANT (2-0), Omni (2-0), and Doomsday (2-0). Even the one game loss was close, as my opponent was hellbent with lethal on board, and I had several fresh looks at a Terminus.
I absolutely wrecked Omni and drew hot fire in that match. G1 he mulls to 6 and FoWs my turn one top. From there I was able to get cards out of his hand via my own FoW. He actually gets Omni into play, but doesn't have anything leftover to cast for free. I then immediately untap and Council's Judgment his Omni. Ambush Viper gets there.
For G2, he had Tundras in his deck and I know he has a proclivity for Mentor, so I assumed they were coming in post-board. (-4 STP, -2 Plains, -1 Terminus, -2 JTMS; +2 Flusterstorm, +2 Pyro, +1 REB, +1 Disenchant, +1 EE, +1 Staticaster, +1 Canonist -- the 4th Terminus might have been better than the Staticaster, but I went with the latter to increase my blue count). In this game, he resolves a turn 4 Mentor and Preordains. I untap and kill it with Council's Judgment, and have Brainstorm + Terminus to clean things up if he tries to fight. I then Terminus away the tokens. We go draw-go for a few turns until he goes for it. His turn happens like this: With five lands, he first casts a Preordain, and then a Show and Tell. I currently have three blue-producing lands untapped, and have 2x Flusterstorm and 1x DTT in hand. I first DTT (delving six). He responds with Brainstorm (presumably to find FoW), which allows me to Flusterstorm both the Brainstorm and Show and Tell. The game is very easy from here, as I find CB, Top, and Canonist from DTT + draw step.
I got second in an 86 player legacy event locally with the following decklist. I switched to two Izzet Staticaster because I expected a lot of Pyromancer running around. It turned out there was a lot of infect too, so that choice worked out well. Staticaster was fantastic. Mentor was great when I saw it, but I didn't feel like I saw it very much in post board games. Overall, I was pretty happy with how the list performed. The one entreat served me very well, and I don't plan to cut it, but one was enough. Venser was great every time he came down, but Clique was the real MVP. http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=10042

Round 1
LED Dredge 2-1
Game 1 - draw - loss - We both mull to 6. He gets the dredge engine going, and I never find a terminus.
Game 2 - play - win - I counter a couple enablers and clear out a couple bridges. I find a Relic of Progenitus and set it up just chewing a single card off his fully stocked graveyard for a few turns. He goes for a LED flashed back Faithless Looting, and in response I blow relic and Venser the flashback.
Game 3 - draw - win - My opening 7 sees Containment Priest. His first two dredges miss any relevant creatures, and Containment Priest and Vendilion Clique take it home.
Round 2
Grixis Delver 2-0
Game 1 - draw - win - He gets a Delver and a Pyromancer with a few tokens, but top finds a Terminus to clean things up. I set up Counter-Top with Jace at 2 life, and there’s no coming back.
Game 2 - draw - win - I take some early pressure from a Pyromancer, but a terminus cleans up, and Venser and Mentor take it home.
Round 3
Merfolk 2-0
Game 1 - draw - win - Early pressure and lords put me down to 4, but I find a Terminus and clear the way for Jace to fateseal his way to victory.
Game 2 - draw - win - A turn three True-Name Nemesis starts the clock, so I entreat for 2 on turn 5. I proceed to race, counter the blockers. EOT Snapcaster, and swing for the win past a tapped True-Name with 2 life left.
Round 4
Esper Deathblade 2-1 - this player goes on to make it to top 8 as well
Game 1 - play - loss - I mull to six and a pair of Thoughtseize tear apart my hand. I’m able to Clique, but it’s not enough. I go for a desperate Entreat, but it gets countered, and I fall to Batterskull.
Game 2 - play - win - I don't really remember what happened. I didn't have a spectacular draw, but he flooded. I find a Mentor and an Entreat on the top, so I decided to Entreat and hide the Mentor for game 3. He falls in two turns.
Game 3 - draw - win - A terminus cleans up a Stoneforge, a Deathrite, and a germ token after we're both low on resources. I've held back a Venser in hand and find a Karakas as he goes to recast a bounced Batterskull. EOT I bounce the germ with Venser and follow up with Mentor replay Top, and he dies over two turns.
Round 5
Shardless BUG 0-2 - this player lost a win-and-in in the final round against the infect player I played in top 8
Game 1 - play - loss - I mull to 6. I know this player and suspect he's on Aluren. I get punished for that assumption. He gets some early creatures to pressure me pretty hard. I have a pair of cliques with a Karakas in hand, and I try to fog the Tarmogoyf, but a Shardless cascades into Hymn, and I’m wrecked.
Game 2 - play - loss - I keep Island, Top, Brainstorm, Brainstorm. He forces the Top turn 1 the Thoughtseizes a Snapcaster. I Brainstorm and find no land. I make a monumental error where I don’t hide the other brainstorm on the top of my deck, and he Thoughtseizes the other Brainstorm. He has t3 Lili, and I struggle to do anything of substance. I’m able to land a couple Digs after Lili ults, but it’s not enough.
Round 6
Omnitell 2-0
Game 1 - draw - win - I open with a pair of Pyroblast in hand. I counter one cantrip and hold up the other for a while until she casts Dig. I land a Counterbalance and hold up a Snapcaster for Pyroblast, and the first Show and Tell is countered to a blind reveal Vendilion Clique. She finds a Boseiju, but no meaningful spells. I manipulate for a bit, land a Jace with Clique, and fateseal my way to victory.
Game 2 - draw - win - I keep a red blast and a Counterspell in my opener. I find a Force and a Wear/Tear shortly thereafter. She attempts to Dig on my EOT, so I red blast it, she forces back, I allow the force to resolve so I have enough graveyard to dig into a blue card to pitch to my Force as well as another red blast. After my next turn she plays Show and Tell. I red blast and Force, and she Forces twice. She gets Omniscience into play, but has nothing to cast after committing so hard. I tear the Omniscience, play Clique and beat down.
Round 7
Draw into top 8
Top 8 Quarterfinals
Maverick Wish 2-0
Game 1 - draw - win - I keep a slightly sketchy hand with a swords and a Clique. He has a Tidehollow Sculler on my counterbalance applying some pressure, so I play a Clique and start beating down. He starts to Karakas the clique, so I use that to tear his hand apart. I Entreat for 1 and win the race.
Game 2 - draw - win - I mull to six and keep a sketchy hand he mulls to 5. He has a Spirit of the Labyrinth that does some work. I use Venser to mess with his mom and swords his Spirit. He finds a Stoneforge into Batterskull, but Terminus cleans up, and Karakas-Venser takes it home.
Top 8 Semifinals
Infect 2-1
Game 1 - draw - win - My opener is 3x Brainstorm, 2x Snapcaster, 1x Swords, fetch land. I find an additional pair of swords pretty quickly. I never attempt any removal during combat. He gets me to 7 infect, but I’m able to snap-swords/ambush viper so many infect creatures that a Vendilion Clique can take it home.
Game 2 - draw - loss - We go back and forth for a while. I establish a strong board presence with Clique and Jace, but he’s able to Become Immense into Berserk on his Inkmoth, and Snap-Swords wasn’t enough.
Game 3 - play - win - He mulls to 6 and plays a couple of Inkmoth. I’m able to swords an Inkmoth and land a Clique to see he has no colored mana and a lone Force for castable spells. I follow up with Jace and fateseal bottomong only colored land sources. He finds another Inkmoth that meets Izzet Staticaster. Jace keeps him off colored lands until his entire library gets exiled.
Top 8 Finals
UR Delver 0-2
Game 1 - draw - loss - A quick Delver flips to bolt and Swiftspear smash in for a lot of damage. I have a turn 2 top, but I’m unable to get any answers through Daze, and I die very quickly.
Game 2 - play - loss - I have a top into a turn 2 Pithing Needle. I attempt to Wear the Needle, but it gets countered, and I’m unable to find a Terminus until it’s too late. I see a Terminus on top from a Counterbalance flip. I play Jace and need to find exactly Terminus, brainstorm, land. I don't, so I die.
