Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Double sleeve foils and keep them in a dry place. I had my asthma play up last year and set up a ventilator in the room at night. Some random foil I opened from Origins or Karns ended up looking like a half pipe.

I think I will avoid foreign language cards because of tournament play.
Can I get any more pimp then alpha duals?
I always double sleeved them. Kept them dry and in a fliptop deckbox. Some did warp more then others and even keeping them in a large book for weeks didnt do it.
During one tournament i had a deckcheck and i had these original series Trinisphere's. Just those where a bit more warped and where considered marked. I got a gameloss for that and had to swap them with nonfoils in order to be allowed to continue the tournament. I was furious.
Sold ALL my foils and switched to JPN non-foil signed. Never regretted.
More pimp then Alpha? Alpha cards have different cut corners. I woukd even consider bringing alpha to a tournament.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
People asking about the basics of pimp :O
Foil>Cool promo foil>Non foil>Shitty foil
No language>Russian>Korean>Japanese>Chinese>European/Eng
Original artwork>No artwork>Amazing not original artwork>Crappy non original artwork
Signed>Unsigned
Original print>Reprint
SUmmer>BB>WB
But its pretty much all about what you want in your deck, for example picking a card like Birds of Paradise, the Poole art is nuts, the 7e foil japanese are insane as always, man even the promo art from terese is super good, i would like all 3 of them in different ways, based on the rest of the deck.
As far as im concerned there are only few things that ill never consider, mostly based on the glossy FTV foil

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
what will be the price range for an attactive jap foil R in the set? - I mean like Wasteland or Flusterstorm (if reprinted, if at R), also would Flusterstorm likely feature different art?

I personally dislike the judge foil force of will's art (and the little star in the middle) so I would probably have to pick up the new foil force if I wanted one for the cube
I`d go for the new one hands down unless the foiling turns out to be as shitty as most of the MM15 foils that look like fucking inkjet on tin foil. The new art is miles better, and none of them are original printing/art anyway, so… I guess the only argument against the EMA printing is the M15 border with the holostamp, but the judge foil has that shooting star, so… yeah.

The Wasteland art actually looks sick, I'd imagine a JP foil of that would run near $200 (remember, it's at rare so it will show up ever so slightly more often).
Flusterstorm will probably be around $150. This set will certainly tank the price of the non-foil Commander JP Fstorm, and if using the Judge foil as a guide, then I don't expect this to be an obscenely priced foil. Plus, Fstorm is not a playset, and is always a SB card.
I'm more confident in my FStorm prediction than I am in my Wasteland one. This is because all the foil versions of Wastelands have been hovering around $190-$240, regardless of edition. Which means that their price (rightly so) isn't affected by other versions. So taking that into account, having a foreign foil of that makes it hard to gauge how much it'll be since I'd have to factor in how common the foil will be as well as the foreign markup.

I'd also think the 150 ... I was thinking of MM Dark Confidant as a roughly comparable card...
to the 2nd part of the question - is there some logic regarding reprints of Judge promos and new art? - Reprinting FoW with the JP pic would make the JP very hard to move or would lose value, but does the same logic apply to less premium stuff? I can't recall (which doesnt mean anything) any JP being mass reprinted using the same visual appearence and from the constant Wasteland recycling I'd assume that both Karakas and Flusterstorm, if reprinted, would have new artwork ...on the other hand a lot of the cards in the set can be too old to reprint with original art, would they commision xxx new artworks for it? (just thinking about the mess makes me feel uneasy)

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
So normally I know exactly what I want for pimp cards, but I'm struggling with Sword of X/Y. Do I take the judge foil or the mirrodin foil? I will be using it in legacy, but a lot of the deck is modern framed including expedition Eyes, Wastelands and Ancient Tombs (Eldrazi). I'll also be playing Eldrazi in Modern while I still can but probably won't use swords in that format.
Although I love the GP foils, Sword of Light and Shadow and Sword of Fire and Ice are differently foiled (I'll be needing a SoLaS, but it sucks that it is inconstent with SoFaI; SoFaI has the ugly ass DCI stamp that makes it worthless to me. Luckily the Sword of Feast and Famine is properly foiled like SoLaS). Price-wise I think modern framed swords can go higher, which you can see by the price for Crucible of Worlds.
I also play MUD and Stax which has old border foils like Metalworker and Grim Monolith, so reusing the GP Foils in that deck is a bit nicer than in the Eldrazi deck. I absolutely won't buy a GP AND a mirrodin foil. Magic has been expensive lately already :)

For a deck that runs multiple swords I`d personally have consistency as priority #1. If you`re going to run L&S and F&I and no other ones, you`re lucky that both are in Darksteel and have the older, softer, more abstract art that imo is superior to Scars/MMA art. The old frame promo foils are nice, but I agree that the DCI watermark completely ruins F&I. I pick basically anything over cards with DCI/FNM/Arena/GP watermarks, including worn-ass white bordered cards, the only exception off the top of my head being FTV. That`s just me ofc.
So personally I would go for this setup:
Need only L&S and/or F&F -> Old border promo.
Need only F&I or F&I+L&S, but no other -> Darksteel pack foil.
Need other swords -> MMA+Scars block foils for matching art style.

Oh man, this is not making it easier but you are correct.
I doubt I'll need SoFaI in Eldrazi, because I believe it's not the correct sword in that deck, but the deck is mostly modern framed so the Darksteel version is a bit more consistent than the Mirrodin one. It also plays Umezawa's Jitte, so as long as Jitte isn't properly foiled it will look even more out of place I think. I really want the promo though but I'm just afraid it will look bad with the rest. I used to have mirrodin foils and wasn't too impressed with how they look irl.
If I play MUD, Sword of Fire and Ice is the correct sword, but the promo has the fugly stamp even though that deck would benefit great from more old borders.
This is super hard. :)

Sure. In fact if I'd be playing any kind of old school Magic, it wouldn't be without IA and friends. There are so many beautiful cards in post-Dark expansions, and speaking of color fixation, Thawing Glaciers could help a bit for a fraction of buck.
Also, there comes quite some removal in form of Reprisal, Exile, Dark Banishing, even Contagion, in case you'd ned it. Necro is legal?
I did end up putting in Exile, but I never even though of Reprisal or Dark Banishing, both of those are probably sweet. Necro isn't bad, but I think it will be difficult to cast (just like Underworld Dreams is), and it might accidentally force some aggression my way. Right now, it's pretty easy to fly under the radar. I still need to get a Thawing Glacers, but it's been harder to find in nice condition than some Beta rares!
Appreciate the comments and Mox Monkey, love your decks as well. Both look like a blast, and I like that you are more creature reliant that I am. I think in an environment with multiple 93/94/95 era decks, it's definitely the way to go, but at the moment, I'm battling against any EDH deck (planewalkers are a bittttch).

For equipment I'd go for DS version because it is a different kind of artifact and the distinction on the board state is more clear (ie not a lock piece in stax), plus I think it pairs better with equipment flavoring that is newer aged than a poop color. <==Another reason why judge crucible looks like ass.

Personally the DCI watermark doesn't bother me too much, it's not great looking, but it's not absolutely fugly like that enormous shooting star on things like Karakas.
For me it's old frame foil over the new frame foil every day of the week unless it's like the Bob with the fugly shooting star, I like the Noble Hierarchs though. I would love it if all of the old frame foils were done as they first were, or have the little shooting star where the set symbol typically goes like with the Noble.
For me I would do the Judge Promos where possible for all the swords, or all set foils if you are playing one that can't be, like Sword of War and Peace.

Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
Asking for opinions but id probably end up getting both.
I have my playset of the original FoWs. I was about to commission a language swap for them into S-chinese until I heard about the announcement. SO...
which would do have?
S-Chinese foil new FoW, or altered into Chinese original FoWs

This is not really a question.
Obviously the original one. Old art >>> New Art >>> Judge art (So much potential, so much ruined by the border!!!)

That certainly depends on whether or not you have judge mana drains to pair with them, then again I'd go for Judge foil FoWs before any other FoW.

The new border is poop. If it was old border judge foil, I'd agree. I like the new artwork, I just think the border ruins it a lot.

I don't know why people hating on expeditions. Eye of Ugin is amazing IRL, I've since acquired a playset. Different folks different strokes I guess.
Personally I don't mind the expeditions, I'm just not a fan of full art. I purposely chose s-chinese foil Khanslaught fetchlands over the originals because the new foiling makes altering them look much prettier.

Couldn't agree more. Misty Rainforest and Scalding Tarn expeditions are just things of beauty. Polluted Delta also looks great but original Onslaught Rob Alexander artwork is way too good.
Expeditions are WotC cash grabs no doubt about that but they are still awesome. I hope they keep printing this premium versions of cards. Who wouldn't want an expedition Jace TMS :) ?

Nothing wrong with the artworks, it is the lay-out that stands out waaay to much.

Simplified Chinese foils, without any doubt. Language alterations are very seedy in my opinion.

I have more pimp questions concerning Swords. I've since discarded judge promo swords as an option due to consistency errors between SoLaS and SoFaI (foiling isn't the same).
Now, to my next surprise I saw that Modern Masters SoFaI and SoLaS command a much higher price than the original ones. I completely missed this, but this is due to the fact that the Modern Masters versions of SoFaI and SoLaS are adapted to the SoBaM, SoFaF and SoWaP artwork and layout. So for true consistency I'd have to go with Modern Masters foils, except the original artwork is so classy...
I doubt I'll go for SoWaP SoBaM or SoFaF any time soon, but you don't want to one day come to the conclusion that you need those too.
Agh, this is so hard :) Help!

I had the same "problem" when pimping my Stoneforge package.
At first I wanted to get the Judge Swords since I love old border foils, but clashing with the new Swords/Jitte/Batterskull became a knock-out.
For pack foils I decided to go with the new ones for consistency's sake, even though I prefer the old arts.
http://i.imgur.com/aRjTf6N.jpg
So, I don't think my choice is necessarily the most pimp or best looking, but I'm very pleased with its consistency.
