Grixis Green? Have we reached the stupidity of Standard names like Dark Jeskai yet? :eyebrow:
Joke didn't deliver apparently!
In a just world, today we will see the Chalice and Probe ban..but this is not a just world obv.
I rarely fuck around on this thread but can someone explain to me why in the world Chalice needs to be banned? Like it is in what 5 percent of the meta at most? And all you need to do to beat it is play green, white, blue, or red, or just play some spells in your deck that cost more than 1 mana.
I am not trying to be a dick I am just confused as to what the argument could be to ban a fringe card that disrupts the predominant shell in the format. Oh wait is that the reason?
Seth
Any news of banlist changes yet? I'm impatient...lol
Not sure why everyone is so excited. It's just gonna be no changes
Chalice would be a hilarious ban.
By no means do I advocate that, but it would be hilarious.
Also no changes, maybe a DRS ban but I doubt they'll ban anything before the end of the year.
They aren't going to ban Deathrite (or anything else, right now).
[hyperbole]Shit, I might riot if they do. Just run removal, this isn't 2005, the format is about creatures.
Just unban some nonsense card that is on the list and lets move on with our lives.[/hyperbole]
Yeah I am just really perplexed with the talk in this thread. I guess I have been away for too long. If the power level of the format is that Brainstorm and his crew are safe, then we should all be talking about unbanning at this point. DRS is a good creature, but even the talk about a one mana planeswalker is hyperbole as equating DRS to JTMS or Lilliana is sort of dumb in terms of power level. Not to mention that the answers to a one mana creature (without inherent protection) are too many to list.

They may ban/unban now to give the format longer to adjust before the pro tour. Legacy doesn't turn on a dime like Standard, and even Modern changes at a fairly slow rate unless they ban a deck (which they do frequently) and then it's a quick turnaround (general sense, I actually like where Modern is ATM.) However, I still doubt any changes will happen, considering how recent the Top ban happened. They probably think that's enough for the pro-tour. I'd love to see some cards unbanned myself.
I'd love to see Brainstorm go away, by literally any metric it's OP, but it won't happen because WotC likes blue unreasonably more than the other colors, at least for eternal formats. I think there's a pretty decent chance Gitaxian Probe gets the axe though. Especially given that Legacy is the only format where they haven't hit it yet.
Holy... fuck....
This is bullshit
What's going on? Not seeing any B&R news on the mothership or social media.
There are a lot of people in this thread
Got ya
Dammit, I thought Steve knew something since it's tomorrow in Australia.
AND the toilets flush in reverse? God what a strange land you guys live in.
I wouldn't put it past WotC's website to have access to articles based on your system's clock
No changes to legacy.

Saw all of that coming. I am not disappointed.
We have all these ridiculous decks, and here I am just innocently wanting to play tier III decks with my Earthcrafts and Frantic Searches. Thwarted once again.
Bummed that Misstep dodged a bullet, but this is otherwise a solid announcement.
Workshop restriction would have been a travesty, but Thorn is a good hit. As someone buying into White Eldrazi it's not great for me personally, but Thorn's a bullshit card (and White Eldrazi can always try out Wingmare or some extra Thalia THC). Sphere can be more powerful, but I find Thorn to usually be one-sided.
Mentor needed to go. I suspect the deck will still be Tier 1 if they just replace 3 Mentors with Pyromancers.
Now that I type that out, I'm not sure this announcement is enough to actually change the Shops v Mentor dynamic . . .
Sure, but Pyromancer is a linear growth plan, which is a lot less explosive and easier to deal with (especially since -1/-1 effects wipes Pyro and the tokens).
Weaking both Shops and Mentor though allows other decks to actually play that couldn't split the difference. I.e. BUG Fish and hopefully combo outside Outcome.
I am a Stax player, I think that is fairly well known by now, and I can not see a flaw in this other than thinking Sphere should have taken the hit over Thorn. But hell, it is what it is, I am more interested to see what happens next. I am thinking about trying to build with Clamp and Genesis Chamber again. This is not a bad thing for Vintage.
For Legacy I think that was the right call to not ban anything, brainstorm is the ultimate spell of the format, but since Legacy is the only BS format, I think it will be very hard to take a strike. BS is just so good, it is a cantrip that also gives you virtual card advantage by shuffling away two cards that are not good at the moment, all at instant speed, its just so strong, I would like to see someday the format without it, but I don't know how people would react to it. Anyway without BS it would power down both delver and 4c control the 2 top decks, probably delver more, but still it would change a lot in the format, so I understand them not moving before the protour, and I think its right to wait.
What I really wanted was to see some unbans on Legacy, there are things that will be part of only tier 2 decks, so why not unban and bring some diversity up on the format.
