Just Stifle the trigger and you are good to go, right?

I also like AJ Sacher's take on a more "midrange" version of U/R Delver:

It would be cool if it could fit the Stifle + Wasteland package (kinda like Next Level Threshold).
In my limited testing, I really like Predict. With the amount of library manipulation, it often lets you draw two cards, and bin a card you don't need from the top of your library. You can flash it back with Snapcaster Mage for more card advantage. In one match, my opponent cast Enlightened Tutor for a bomb. I let it resolve, then "predicted" it away. Full of win :)
Full four Submerges in side is lots of fun with Predict.
Hi guys I'm new to this deck and love it. Have had some great initial results with the Serge list posted previously. Just wondering wherpeople stand on Price of Progress? Seems like a lot greedy mana bases around these days with RUG/BUG/Junk etc. Would dropping 2 Vortex from the main (perhaps squeezing it SB) for 2 PoP be a solid modification?
So I took UR delver to a local legacy tournament here (Legacy Wars IV) with a playset of Jace, TMS as the top prize.
Around 50 players registered.
I played the "standard" list, increasing the daze count to 3 and STILL playing 18 lands. I was expecting more miracles and combo.
Round 1 vs Maverick (Loss 1-2)
- Made a crucial mistake in game 3 where I bolted his Noble Hierarch WHEN i didn't have an answer for stoneforge mystic.
I eventually resolved a sulfuric vortex but it was too late as he has already gained 10 life with the help of exalted triggers.
Round 2 vs Bant Enchantress (Loss 1-2)
- I felt really behind in this matchup, even in the game I won it was still close in his favor. The Choke postboard made it more tough. As usually I will counter this and then the next "lock" enchantment will resolve, Energy Field or Web of Inertia powered by Rest in Peace.
Round 3 vs The Gate (Win 2-0)
- Got answers for his nighthawks and burned him.
Round 4 vs Elves (Win 2-1)
- Game 1 controlled him with burn and Grim Lavamancer. Game 2 I got swarmed! Game 3 same as Game 1.
Round 5 vs BUG delver (Loss 0-2)
- Game 1 kept a slow hand and paid for it, my fetch for blue got stifled and got really behind.
Game 2 kept a hand of Scalding Tarn, Goblin Guide, 1 Grim Lavamancer, 3 Burn, 1 daze. Did not draw the 2nd land :frown:. A greedy keep perhaps but I still think my odds wouldn't have improved if I mulled that to six.
Round 6 vs Merfolk (Win 2-0)
- Paired against a teammate so he scooped and we just split the ONE pack I will be getting as a consolation
Overall I feel UR delver has declined a little in performance, in our meta at least. Though it still is a good deck choice. More tight plays must be made next time. Always consider what you can and cannot beat and play with that it mind.
In my case against maverick, I should have remembered batterskull is what hurts the most!
And on the enchantress matchup, maybe I should have let Choke resolve and just play around it by being conservative with my usage of blue mana and I still got Mountains to rely on.
The additional daze didn't do much at all as I faced fair decks and is quite irrelevant in the enchantress matchup once they get to play their wild growths or have serra sanctum in play :frown:
Is Eggy the Gate player? then yes we played.
You mean Reginald Go. Yes he is the enchantress player. Really hard to keep up with that deck. So many must counter threats.
Hey guys, just wanted to know if any of you had some advices concerning the maindeck and sideboard options in a meta where Sneak Show is the deck to beat? My maindeck counter suite is : 4 Spell Pierce, 3 Force of Will, 2 Daze ( playing 4 of Brainstorm and Ponder). The fourth Force is in the side as well as 2 Disrupt, 2 Red Elemental Blast and 2 Blue Elemental Blast. I'm wondering if I should dedicate even more to the mu. Any input is appreciated. Edit : Anyone tested Gilded Drake or Sower of Temptation vs Sneak Show?
Thanks for the quick reply. I might replace the Disrupt for Pithing Needle. I'm questioning your suggestion to board in Surgical Extraction, isn't only useful when you already dealt with a threat? Edit : I'm going to check out the Flusterstorm, thanks. Edit 2 : Here's my maindeck :
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Misty Rainforest
3 Arid Mesa
3 Volcanic Island
2 Mountain
2 Island
4 Delver of Secrets
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Goblin Guide
3 Force of Will
4 Spell Pierce
4 Chain Lightning
2 Daze
4 Brainstorm
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Ponder
3 Fire / Ice
4 Thunderous Wrath
Boarding in surgical extraction against combo decks is something I do often too, usually replacing chain lightnings
For Show and Tell decks running Intuition it is very good. At worst it becomes a card that removes all copies of the cantrip spell he already played and gives you a peek at his hand and information on what his deck contains.
I appreciate the clarifications on Surgical Extraction. I'm gonna test some maindeck changes : -2 Fire / Ice + 1 Daze +1 Vendilion Clique. I suppose it's appropriate for a combo-dominated metagame. Unfortunately, it's the only information I have on it : Sneak and Show is the deck to beat. I'll know more when i'll get to actually go to the tournament when the deck is finished. Edit : Sideboard should look like this :
3-4 Surgical Extraction
3 Submerge
3 Sulfuric Vortex
2 Hydroblast
2 Pyroblast
1 Force of Will
0-1 Vendilion Clique
Hey guys.
im new with the U/R-Delver deck, but to me it seems like snapcaster are a bit too slow, since 2mana +1 for flashback cards seems quite a lot in this deck, but what is your guys experience with it? orbviously its ability is really good in such a deck, but dont you think 2 could do the job?
The problem with the deck is, that you are running out of gas very quickly. To deal with this, you have to play cards like Brainstorm, Ponder and Snapcaster. The latter allows you to re-use your spells and function as another body, which is often relevant. The manacosts can sometimes be tough to pay for, if you want to flashback something and play against Wastelands etc, but that's why we pretty much only play CMC1 spells and basics, so that's hardly an issue.
thanks a lot for the explanation, makes lot of sense... so would you prefer forked bolt over fire/ice?.. i was thinking of playing thunderous wrath build, and ice's draw ability to a draw in your oponents turn, just seemes like an good option to have?... well and the fact that its an instant...
i was thinking of:
Creatures: 13
3 Grim lavamancer
2 snapcaster
4 Delver of secrets
4 goblin guide
Instans: 23
4 Thunderous wrath
4 lightning bolt
4 force of will
3 daze
2 spell pierce
4 brainstorm
2 fire/ice
Sorceries: 4
4 ponder
enchantment: 2
2 Sulfuric vortex
Lands: 18
3 Volcanics
4 scalding tarn
3 Misty rainforest
3 Bloodstained mire
3 islands
2 mountains
List is not bad it is similar to the European Lists and I'm actually gonna try them out. Forked Bolt > Fire/Ice anyday. You hardly use the Ice except as Force of Will fodder. That 1 mana matters when Thalia is in play. I kinda like the European List because it has 2 more Forked Bolts in the sideboard which is good against Maverick and more Sideboard Space for Submerges. So you will board in extra Forked Bolts and Submerges for your Force of Wills which will probably make the Matchup a walk in the park :) Also I'd rather run 3 Spell Pierce than 3 Daze because Daze loses it's value late game too early.
points taken :)... what about the amount of snapcasters?.... 2 too few?
