I don't think anything else on the banned list could accomplish that without being horribly overpowered. It'll never happen with how conservative WotC is with the Legacy B&R list which is sort of the a blessing honestly. One only need look at Modern to see how well it works out when Wizards tinkers with formats obsessively.
Recruiter and Dragon aren't getting off the list ever, logistic reasons and all that.
If it were up to me i'd unban Vise, Twist, Bargain, Earthcraft, Survival, Windfall, Memory Jar.
And did you know conspiracy cards are actually banned in Legacy? What the hell, the list is 10 cards longer because of this shit, terrible. http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/mag...rces/sfrlegacy
Couldn't they just say Conspiracies aren't constructed cards? Jesus christ WotC how stupid can you be.

Well it's going to be skewed because everyone will be playing for or expecting people to play said card. I think you've got to take a few things off. Have you guys ever seen the Japanese event where they tried a similar experiment. They allowed you one banned card off the Legacy banned list. Mental Misstep was by far and away the most played forbidden card, since it's the ultimate derp ape delver card.

But seriously, 4 Volcanics, 4 Tarns, and the ENTIRE deck is $1850 - with a full set of Forces.
I am curious what $2000 mana base you are using for your argument. Sure, when you staple a bunch of Wastelands to a manabase, you can drive the price up, but you don't have to spend more than ~$1000 even if you want to play blue cards!
And don't get me started on the number of people actively playing at the local level using Shocklands. It's a strawman argument, but it happens.
As for how many people aren't playing Legacy because of reasons, I'll have to let you know next week, after the 2000+ player GP.

This $680 Open winning decklist would like to talk to you about inferior lists to blue shells...

To this day, my only objection to Conspiracy as a whole. Everything was so well done, it's painful that they couldn't just lump the cards in with stuff like Planes and Schemes. So much less elegant to sit them on a shelf next to 20-year-old Ante and Dexterity Cards.
Re: All B/R update speculation.
Isn't Elves a $1000 deck?
Re: All B/R update speculation.
My list (standard elves) is 1848.88 TCG mid.

Not true. Not a single blue deck is 1k or less.
http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/legacy#paper
Lowest priced blue deck listed there is 1800.

.
Yes! That must surely mean everyone who wants to play Legacy is playing it. Dat logic!

1. Quote is taken explicitly out of context - sentence fragment indicates that the original quote was about the TCO of the deck and not just the Manabase. (-1)
2. Claiming Dredge is Empirically inferior to traditional Brainstorm shells is disproved when Dredge beats Brainstorm shells to win the tournament. (-1)
Thanks for playing! You're total score is *** (-2) *** points!
Re: All B/R update speculation.
Anomalies happen, one example means nothing ultimately
Remember Jund depths featuring squee, man that deck was something of a pile, still won an open

I always use to joke with a mate of mine that Fish was a Red deck and Goblins was a Blue one.
Of all the Blue decks Fish really is an anomaly. It's a great way to get into the format though.

That's largely because of the lack fo blue duals required.

True, but remember: What deck that uses any color dual lands isn't at least $1000?

Belcher? (Taiga)
Re: All B/R update speculation.
play dark depths, it's cheap and puts up good results

Here's a hint: 1-2 top 8s does not equal several hundred top 8s. Anyone who seriously pretends to contest the idea of Dredge's inferiority to a brainstorm shell (outside of a specific meta call for one specific tournament every several months) is quite frankly delusional. "Look at this one result where dredge won" yeah, who cares?

Yep, Taigas are only ~$60 on SCG, Plateaus are ~$55 and Savannahs are ~$70, so you could conceivably make Zoo, as the fetches are ~$20.

Except the part where a set of goyf is almost 1k alone

I'm pretty sure Hooting Mandrills is just as good as goyf right now. With so many of your opponents nuking their own graveyards, and the rest packing graveyard hate, Mandrills being a 4/4 is often the same size or larger than a goyf. And if you are playing mandrills against goyf, you are almost certainly larger, because you can nuke your own graveyard.
Re: All B/R update speculation.
Best of luck casting Mandrils as a Zoo player against incidental maindeck graveyard hate.
