I'm actually really impressed by how many bombs there are at Uncommon or less. I mean, Bane of Bala Ged is a really frigging dangerous card if it lands, for example; especially in a place where lands are often down to three or four.
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
So I went to a prerelease, my first prerelease ever, and my first time playing sealed deck ever in my life.
I did poorly at 1-3, as expected, but what made the experience even worse was the excited cries of random people around me after they cracked open these "expeditions". One guy opened a Delta a few seats down from me, one guy opened a Verdant Catacombs at the other table, another guy got a Hallowed Fountain, and my friend even opened a Temple Garden.
I just felt kind of bad knowing that people were making $100+ on the spot while I was opening foil Oblivion Sower and Void Winnower as my only two remotely valuable cards.
I know the experience of these rare "expeditions" makes it exciting for a few people, but it sure is a big downer when you're *not* the lucky one and some random near you just opened a $350 dollar bill in his pack.
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
That sounds like a lot of expeditions cracked

Thats impressive considering you have been member at these forums since 2012, usually people start tournament playing at prereleases.

That sounds unlikely, I guess the expeditions arent as rare then... From what people speculated its 1/180 packs so 1/30 sealed pools has 1 expedition.

I opened nothing of value in ~2-3 years of prereleases so nowadays I cant stomach going.

Not to mention foil Oblivion Sowers have been at Walmart for a month now.

I pulled a Mythic Eldrazi, Strangler and 2 Tango-lands then went 4-1 with RW Allies and finished 5th of 54 winning another 6 boosters!

Distribution seems very random. We got 1 Expedition in a prize back from a 54 player event and a 20 player event opened 3 of them (two by the same person).
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
I 3-0ed then drew in the last round and sent my 12 prize packs back to the store for $36 credit.
The next one i did, i scrubbed out and dropped at 1-2.
Between the 2 pre-release flights I played, about 90 pools were opened and 4 expeditions were opened.
So about 560 packs opened and 4 expeditions in them.

I've of the mind that Constructed Magic is the only way the game was meant to be played, and refuse to even acknowledge Draft and Sealed as legitimate formats. This was my first non-constructed event ever, and will probably be my last. Draft and Sealed just aren't real Magic and aren't fun.

You're wrong. Sets are now made with limited in mind and it's a supported format. Your lack of skill doesn't mean it is illegitimate or disagreeable.

I agree Draft is one of the hardest formats to play well but a lot of fun. Try some cube drafting to get a hang of it. There is a lot more luck with sealed but still skill to have in actual deck construction. Which was, before easy netdecking, one of the really fun skills of the game which most players now lack.
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
Now that DTT is gone, I wonder if any blue tri-color decks are going to pick up Painful Truths as CA engine as well.

I ended up being dragged to a 2HG prerelease (my 2nd prerelease ever) because I have a friend who was dying to go.
At least one confirmed expedition got opened in our 50 person event, but its hard to tell because people were shrieking in excitement over opening all sorts of bad cards.
We won the event, but the competition was quite poor so it doesn't even feel like much of an accomplishment.
I was the only player who took their prize in store credit instead of packs.
I fucking hate casuals.

That's why we've made them more expensive and moved them up in rarity. This felt like a better plan than having to add an extra clause onto every big creature.
Pretty much a confirmation that for now, Reanimator decks will still be getting ridiculous targets in Legacy.

Yay
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
Everybody needs some love, in the face, possibly from a big monster.
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
This also demonstrates that the Reanimator archetype in Standard, Bloc and Modern will disappear bit by bit... Which is a tad sad, really.
Re: [BFZ]Battle for Zendikar spoilers thread
2 expeditions in 21man release.
1 got opened to when a guy cracked his only booster he won

Really though it's stupid to put all those "If this would enter the battlefield from not your hand, instead do something stupid" clauses on big guys. Legacy will always have Entomb/Exhume or Show and Tell/Eureka/whatever else you can think of to poop dudes into play for way less mana than is fair; if their goal really is to build from a Modern/Standard/Draft mentality then these are wasted words most of the time and they can always ban anything that's degenerate.
Gosh, if only they could keyword "must be cast from hand to stay in play", half sarcasm.
EDIT: Plus even when they do put those anti-Reanimation clauses on cards, people still find a way to break the game. Four Horsemen, right? :/

They already have something like that.
