The blue splash is very viable, since it also gives you some nice sb tool with Spell Pierce. But yeah, it feels kinda awkward to run BS in Gobs, but well, its the broken card of the format.

A couple weeks of updates.
Went 1-3 last week with about the same list. Changed around a couple sideboard cards and fixed the omission of Sharpshooter. 2-0 win over U/B Delver brew. Then 0-2 loss to Omni. 0-2 loss to Elves. 0-2 loss to MUD.
Went 2-1-1 this week with something new, a green splash for Collected Company. I jammed four copies to improve chances of seeing, not thinking too hard about tuning the numbers. It functions nicely as additional Ringleaders. It doesn't peak as a draw 4, but it has the upside of (probably) not missing. And it's a Ringleader that can hit non-goblin sideboard cards. Would run again.
2-0 over Canadian/RUG Delver. 0-2 loss to Shardless. 1-1-1 draw with Miracles. 2-1 over Grixis Delver.
Had my eye on situations where Subterranean Scout would have been nice to see. It would have been relevant several times. Looking forward to trying out one in the main.
It's a little OT but gobbos are quite strong in current t2.. Love the deck so far

Hello again! Are there any other Source Goblins players heading to SCG Chicago for the Legacy event on Sunday? I'd love to meet some of you in person!
In addition, this is my most recent list. I've slimmed it down quite a bit after having some trouble deploying large mana costed threats and having played against Omnitell and Reanimator consistently at my local FNM. Luckily I've been able to 2-2 in matches against OmniTell and 2-0 versus Reanimator, but I've always been lucky enough to draw the correct hate when needed. I've also been trying out different variations of the deck - R/W with a Wear//Tear in the board, Canonists and Thalias, R/B with Earwig Squads and Cabal Therapies, and R/G with Krosan Grips, Pendelhavens, and Tin Street Hooligan. All have had above average results - the R/W variant went 4-0 last Friday and the R/G variant went 2-1 today but was far more convincing with the wins.
I've settled on taking this R/G list to SCG Chicago:
Lands (19)
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Mountain
2 Taiga
3 Bloodstained Mire
2 Wooded Foothills
2 Wasteland
2 Pendelhaven
Artifacts (7)
4 AEther Vial
3 Chrome Mox
Creatures (31)
4 Goblin Lackey
4 Warren Instigator
4 Goblin Piledriver
4 Goblin Matron
4 Goblin Ringleader
3 Goblin Chieftain
2 Goblin Warchief
2 Goblin Rabblemaster
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
1 Goblin Sharpshooter
1 Skirk Prospector
1 Stingscourger
Instant (3)
3 Tarfire
Sideboard
3 Trinisphere
3 Chalice of the Void
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Krosan Grip
2 Pyrokinesis
1 Tin Street Hooligan
1 Stingscourger
1 Krenko, Mob Boss
My concerns really right now are the following -
-My mana base seems relatively susceptible to Wasteland - with 19 lands and 3 Chrome Mox, I'm at 22 mana sources and would LIKE to avoid flooding, but playing only 4 Mountains really is quite frightening. Should I cut a fetch land to up the basic count? Alternatively, should I drop a Chrome Mox? Thus far, I've only had a single game where having more than one of them was actually a burden... and it was because I also had Pyrokinesis in my hand :/
-I really do feel naked without a 3rd Shatter Goblin somewhere in the 75. My losses have been the hardest to swallow versus decks that are running equipment. I was absolutely run over by Death and Taxes this past evening because I couldn't interact with Mother of Runes nor the equipment he placed on creatures. I've upped the Tarfire and Pyrokinesis count both by one as a concession to this matchup and Elves (which, sadly, I haven't had much practice against as no one around here runs it). Also, MUD has been a bit tricky to play against so playing many Shatter effects seems relevant versus them, though I don't know how popular the deck is outside of the two that are around my LGS. Should I try to fit in another Tuktuk or Tin Street? If I did fit in a Tin Street, would it replace a Warchief to have the best chance to avoid the 'nonbo'?
-I hadn't realized before that Pendelhaven is a Legendary Land. Oops! How often is it a problem that you have drawn both? Perhaps I should drop one for a basic land as well?
-Is four Piledriver too many? Especially considering I'm running two Rabblemasters (who have performed well, by the way, but still not certain I need more than one.) Should I make a slot for either another utility Goblin like Goblin Settler/Siege Gang Commander or just stick with the all in damages plan?
Anyway, hopefully someone will be around in Chicago as well. Feel free to post here or message me, I'll be sure to check it before I leave and when I get in town late Saturday.
Your maindeck only has three Tarfires for removal spells. I would suggest adding two copies of Gempalm Incinerator, cutting some combination of Goblin Piledriver and Goblin Rabblemaster.
Also, the main benefit of Tin Street Hooligan over Tuktuk Scrapper is that it's a lot better when you don't need the artifact removal. I'd say it makes more sense to have Tin-Street Hooligan maindeck and Scrapper side.
Maybe something like this?
-2 Rabblemaster
-1 Piledriver
-1 Scrapper
+2 TSH
+2 Gempalm
This should improve your matchup versus DnT, and then you can reassess what matchups need improvement.
I agree with Sandro. Gempalm is very powerful against DnT, and you want to run Tin Street over Tuktuk in the main.
Your list looks good. One thing- Run all four Chieftains before you run any Warchiefs. You're maindeck ing TSH and Winstigator. Chieftain is just better.
Well done, Brennan! I'm glad to see the Rg Winstigator list doing well. The sideboard is looking pretty strong as well. KGrip+thorn gives you plenty of SnT answers that also play well against combo and control.
As to the mana base: Do you miss the Full sets of Waste and Port? I would think with Winstigators you might be able to take More advantage of the colorless lands. Or is the idea that as the game progresses you just want to out-Aggro your opponent with board position?
Here is my tournament report SCG Chicago with Goblins
While I prefer to look at it like a WInstigator list, I'm still playing four Vial. The advantage engine is too real when Instigator connects. I'd like to think of it as a hybrid of the two.
Thanks! It's up now.
Thank you! Yes, Trinisphere was excellent when I played OmniTell and I think all Goblins players should be including to fix that matchup.
Thanks! Yeah, I was able to beat Reanimator and Omnitell but lost to BURG delver and Death and Taxes - DnT is seriously harder than I thought.
Thank you! I don't have thorn but KGrip was a beast.
I have never played Goblins with Port so I cannot comment on that but I think that two or three wastelands was good enough for what I was doing. Having too many colorless lands makes casting Instigator on early turns very frustrating. Death and Taxes does the mana denial aspect far better than we can, so I don't know if I agree with trying to do that the same way as them. Splashing a color for sideboard (or even mainboard) options seems like a far better approach for Goblins.
If you have problems with a lot of utility creatures and elves, try cursed totem
I rarely if ever played sharpshooter...but if you're running it y not tutor it vs death and taxes? He hits 18 of 26 creatures by himself in the 27th place Chicago list. Everything else but Serra has 2 toughness which just require u to run one of your gobbos into a wall to get 2 damage points.
What do people like to Matron for vs death and taxes?
Edit: to clarify I'm not suggesting him when staring down equipment, when you can resolve siege gang, or when you need a Hail Mary ringleader.
Interesting run you had there!
It's pretty interesting to read that Skirk Prospector seems to fall out of favor. I have the same feeling after cutting MWM. Do more people feel this way?
Also, I was thinking about playing a second Goblin Sharpshooter in the SB, making room by cutting Pyrokinesis. Any thoughts?
What is the generaal opinion abour 3Sphere without the manadenial-package? Lately, I am thinking about Ashen Rider in the sb again. Against most Omnitell-builds it is just devistating.
Again, congrats!! It was a good read.
I suppose I could have gone for Sharpshooter, but with no other threats in hand I wanted the cycle to draw some sort of gas. Any other Goblin draw there puts me ahead in the game. Either way, if I tutor for Sharpshooter he can Revoker that as well and the end result is generally the same if I can't goad him into blocking with the Serra Avenger to untap my Sharpshooter.
Pyrokinesis is far better IMO - Instant Speed, 4 damage spread now which can kill larger toughness creatures without relying on tricks to untap, and it's a surprise and doesn't have summoning sickness. Granted, I didn't see Sharpshooter all day so maybe that's just me v0v
I would not want to run any sideboard hate against Omnitell that doesn't either immediately hose them or at least buy us a turn to win with a massive attack. The problem with Ashen Rider is that they can respond to the trigger by either Cunning Wish for Trickbind and go about their business (yes you can exile Emrakul on the Annihilator trigger but you're also down 6 permanents, good luck winning against Omniscience) or they just respond with Cunning Wish again and kill you with the Release the Ants/Firemind's Foresight package.
Krosan Grip is the #1 way to beat this deck, and I will probably be going up to three copies in the sideboard. All we have to do is have a creature with an EtB ability and a KGrip in our hand. The moment Show and Tell resolves, as soon as you get priority from the trigger, you KGrip the Omniscience. Sure, they get a free Dig/Cunning Wish or whatever if they're savvy but you've dealt with the immediate problem. Trinisphere just helps supplement this plan and prevents you from auto-losing to a free Emrakul, in additional to making all of their cheap cantrips into not-so-cheap cantrips.
Hi Dan,
Congrats on your good result. Interesting that you settled on G as your splashcolor. I find G an attractive splashcolor as well, but not for Kgrip, but rather for Carpet of Flowers. How do you like that card (against U creature based decks like RUG, grixis, BUG and the likes)?
