Yes Wipe Away answers CB but it doesn't get rid of the problem. You can play either one but I prefer Krosan Grip ATM.
I haven't lost a match to Folk in a while. Mindbreak Trap is nuts. The only games I've lost have been fast hands. The last one I can remember was a turn 4 win via a huge ass Wake Thrasher. Imagine that. He had no countermagic at all.
Zoo is an entirely different animal. Since I started playing U/g Solidarity, I haven't lost a match to Zoo and I've been testing against my friend a few times each week. The games are very close though. Winning the roll really helps. I have a feeling that CB will die in your meta. Zoo and Merfolk are both really good against it and ANT just died.
The green splash is insane. Fog effect against Zoo gives you the crucial turns that you need in order to combo and win. Krosan Grip is bitter then Wipe Away cause it gives you opportunity to kill the CB in order to keep building up. Wipe Away can only be played when you need to go off, or if you have a counterspell and the likelyhood of you to win the counterfight over CB.
cjva have you tried Tangle yet? I wonder if being able to cantrip will outweigh the drawback of not stopping the creatures they play on the same turn we play Tangle. I find that when I'm playing Moment's Peace, I usually have quite a bit of health to spare before the combo turn. Being able to cantrip might allow us to chain Tangle's together while hitting our land drops, or just find the pieces we need to win. We'd, in effect, be using our life total as a resource. What do you think?
I see, so the green splash is definetly worth it.
Is this deck better than Spring Tide version? I can't see why, it wins at instant speed.
Thanks a lot, I will test this deck. It is always fun to kill in response to what your opponent plays.
Well they are different decks. Spring Tide wins one turn faster than Solidarity. Even so, I think that the green splash is good enough to compete with Spring Tides speed. I think Solidarity is overall the better deck.
Looks like we have something else to play in the board of the green splash:
Back to Nature 1G
Instant
Destroy all Enchantments
Rapes Enchantress pretty hard, which we will probably see more of in the general legacy meta now that the frequency of combo decks has gone down.
I have not tried Tangle yet. Gonna do that someday. Right now I'll thinking about putting Solidarity on the shelf. But we'll see how my meta evolves.
Difference between spring tide and solidarity is that spring tide dies to creature removal and combo hate. Solidarity blanks everything that takes care of creatures in the opponents deck. That, and the fact that spring tide needs to combo in their own turn.
If you want to build a deck that combos in your own turn, I would suggest ANT (even without mystical I believe that the deck will find a new evolution).
There's no reason to even think of enchantress. That deck is already a bye.
Solidarity on the shelf? Is it not a good choice for your meta anymore or you just want to play something else?
LOL
You are too nice man. I tell my buddies what they are doing wrong but not people in my local meta. Otherwise I'd have significantly less store credit than I do. :P
See in my meta, No one plays Solidarity. In Fact, I was playing Belcher vs. Counterbalance today, just testing (Yes I know Bashing my skull against a wall multiple times) and I suggested Solidarity as a deck. They said it was terrible. So now I want to play and test it and wreck people. Sure, CB is a hard match up, but my meta has a lot of Merfolk and Zoo in it as well. The CB decks get wrecked by those decks. And the deck is fun as hell to play.
So yea. As for the sideboard, I understand why the green splash is. 3x Krosan Grips in the board for the CB match up. Is there anything else for the sideboard? What about the zoo match ups, bring in the Moment's Peaces?
I am really enjoying this deck.
Well they said it was terrible for a reason. Its not great against CB.dec and it has trouble racing aggro. Moment's Peace makes the aggro matchup significantly better and Krosan Grip is great against CB.dec. Since I've started playing the green splash, I've been kicking ass in testing and at the last local event I went to.
It definitely is fun as hell to play.
@ Boarding:
Well what else would you play besides Grip? There isn't much else you could play to help that matchup. Also, when boarding, I suggest leaving 1 Grip in the board in case you have to Wish for it.
Against Zoo and Gobos, bring in both Moment's Peace. Also, watch out for REB's. They have fucked me over in some games while testing. Still though, I haven't lost a match to Gobos or Zoo. I'm so satisfied with my list... Only I was borrowing my friend's Trop so now I need to actually buy one.
would running 3 moments peaces in the board be good then?
Or is the deck too slow for this kind of meta?
IDK man, whats your meta look like? Mostly Zoo and Folk? CB as well?
Honestly I haven't done enough testing against Zoo to get conclusive results. It just doesn't make sense. I haven't lost a match yet while just testing against my friend so right now its 100%... but obviously thats not realistic. Also, he doesn't really like to play more than a few games before getting bored and wanting to play against something else. :P
I'd say its good against Zoo but honestly I could just be really lucky. Try doing some testing against Zoo to get more conclusive results. The CB matchup is still bad, but Krosan Grip makes it a little bit better.
The number of Moment's Peaces is really up to you. I'm enjoying 2 ATM but I might go up to 3.
I see. Well I might just choose this as the deck to battle with because it is fun.
Thanks for all your help. I will still test.
Yup good luck dude. Just didn't want you to buy it only to find out its bad for your meta, if it is.
So do we have a decklist to test for the shifting meta?
I had a list that I think is rather good a couple of pages back.
Problem with legacy is that we can't talk about a specific meta. If you play in the US I guess the meta shift from region and even on city lvl. In europe the meta is shifting from country to country, and if we take Sweden as an example you can see several metas depending on what town in Sweden you talk about.
Legacy is to wide.
So what this thread should try to focus on is several different builds, and discussing on card lvl. The green splash for k-grip and Moments Peace that I play is good in a meta where CB are the main control strategy, and Zoo the main aggro strategy. Moments Peace are acording to my theorys also good against dredge. In another meta where CB aint the biggest control deck I would say that a mono-u list is better (Still think mono-u should be considered the general list and the default).
I agree with cjva. Its really hard to say 'Solidarity is good against the field' because its really not. People say all the time that its dead. Obviously its not. It can still compete but it depends on the meta. My metagame is heavy blue so its a great choice. There is light aggro so I also play Moment's Peace. There is only 1 guy who consistently plays CB and there are like 2 Landstill players.
I still think the U/g list is probably the best list you can play ATM unless your meta is heavy wasteland.
